nicko Posted March 10, 2008 Author Posted March 10, 2008 So, what's on Tribalfootball today? Cheslea planning a £10m bid for Bentley as he is apparently stalling on contract talks. Blackburn are looking to bring in Fenerbahce's Uğur Boral (replacement for Pedersen?), Porto's Bruno Alves and Getafe midfielder Esteban Granero. Nicko? Hate to say it, but they are lifted from the Sunday People. Save your time waiting for the websites to read them and nick down that supermarket...

nicko Posted March 10, 2008 Author Posted March 10, 2008 And, by the way, Bentley is NOT leaving. Don't start that one...forget all of the waffle on this subject. If players are to be sold to raise money for new faces it won't be Bentley. There is only one club with the money and the interest. But why would he go to Manchester City?
PAFELL Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Hughes would sign better players than Chopra, King or Koumas and you know it. For 15M he could sign 3 top players. Would I swap Bentley for three top players...Yes I would. IMO Bentley is a better player than Damian Duff was for us and he went to Chelsea for 17mill - Sutton went to them for 10 mill - Rovers would not consider parting with Bentley under 20mill - Any club would have to offer an extremely high price to get Bentley - anyway Bentley, in my view is not interested in going to a bigger club - if his remarks with regards to Walcott are anything to go by. Bentley wants to play regular football, which ne gets at rovers - at a bigger club he would only be a squad player.
deryck guyler's spoon Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 In the People today: Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate will be handed a £20m transfer kitty in the summer. Boro in the money of all of a sudden? The chances of The Walker trust allowing Mark Hughes a transfer kitty even a 5th the size of that? Slim to f all.
tony gale's mic Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 IMO Bentley is a better player than Damian Duff was for us Disagree. Bentley has been very good for us but Duff was out of this world at times and could make things happen out of nowhere.
Eddie Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Yeah, Bentley isn't anywhere near that level yet and I don't think he'll ever be as useful as he doesn't have the pace. Duff won quite a lot of games for us by himself, Bentley can't really do that as his style means that even his good play usually has to involve someone else.
thenodrog Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 If we got 15M for him this summer I'd be well chuffed. To make the wholesale changes that are needed Hughes will have to raise the cash through sales. Bents, Benni and Peds being the most saleable. All can leave for me. Noooooo selling your best Asset isnt the way forward. Id much rather see us sell someone like Roberts, Mokoena, Henchoz and Gallagher than sell one of our best players. Alternatively Hughesy we could let him run down his contract and walk away for sweet FA. Ever thought that by his apparent reluctance to sign a new deal that this may well be his intention? It's a dirty business remember.
RibbleValleyRover Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Can't see him leaving anytime soon, especially if he continues to be picked for England whilst playing at Blackburn. Plus he has experienced what its like to be a "squad" player, rather than a first team regular and its been made clear on numerous ocassions he wasn't happy about that. The £10 million figure is a joke, you are looking at least £15 million, possibly more. SWP went for over £20 million and he is rubbish, then there is Darren bent who went for £16 million iirc.
nicko Posted March 10, 2008 Author Posted March 10, 2008 Pretty astonishing news from the FA. Rovers charged for the Habib Beye-MGP handbags interlude... But NOT Newcastle. If your blood boils and you think there is some bias going on here then I can understand.

When did Bentley say he was NOT signing a new contract...and apart from that he's got about four years to run.
ihtd Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Bentley won't be going anywhere. Man Utd have Ronaldo, Nani, Anderson & Giggs, Chelski have Cole, Moluda(sp) & SWP, Liverpool have Kewell, Pennant & Benayoun and Arsenal don't even need mentioning for obvious reasons. Spurs have Lennon and Villa have Young & Agbonlahor .He would be stupid to leave for any other club in the Premiership and he doesn't strike me as being stupid enough to leave for Newcastle where he'll win sweet fa. IMO if Darren Bent can leave for 16-18million and SWP for over 20million, if someone were to come into him we should be holding out for around SWP price. As i have already mentioned, no other club in the Premiership needs him, not saying they wouldn't like to have him in their squad but the players those clubs already have are mainly as good or better in the case of Ronaldo.

Atomicrover Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Remind me again of the picture I saw.....who had whose forearm in who's throat?
tony gale's mic Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Bentley will go to Spain eventually, I'm sure of it. He's that kind of player, won't happen in the near future though.
roversmum Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I think I still have the incident on my skybox hard drive. Have a mind to send a copy of it to the FA with protest. The ONLY thing that could have swayed it might be Jason Brown and Aaron Mokoena's haste in jumping into the fray though I don't believe they were any quicker than others of a Newcastle ilk. Other than that, what the dickens is going on?
nicko Posted March 10, 2008 Author Posted March 10, 2008 Interesting that Rovers 'officials' are also mentioned in the charge...this could be a big row.

If your blood boils and you think there is some bias going on here then I can understand. You what!?!? This has to be a wind up. So the guy who delayed the restarting of play and then acted aggressively towards an opponent gets nothing but a yellow card. MGP who did nothing wrong gets the same punishment and our staff who didn't enter the playing field or in fact leave their technical area get an FA Charge. That is just ridiculous and i suppose the FA will justify it with an Arsene Wenger quote. Pathetic.
roversmum Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I'll have another look but I think what happened was that Jason Brown and Moko jumped in to stop the guy from pasting Peds and the staff jumped in to get Brown and Moko away. They were all wearing the same tracksuits so there could be some confusion over that. All our other players simply pulled the Newcastle players away. It's just like school, isn't it. The kid that lands the first blow gets away with it, it's the retaliation that gets the punishment.

RibbleValleyRover Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Looks to me like they haven't even looked at the incident and have instead looked at our placing on their so called 'fair play' league table, which is a joke in itself. If Rovers staff have been looked at, does that mean a possible touchline ban for Sparky? I can see us appealing, but we have no chance in winning, even though the charge is an absolute farce.

If your blood boils and you think there is some bias going on here then I can understand. Just seen this on SSN When are we going to tell the FA/Premier League to get [rude word deleted]? I mean when a player in your team gets punched in thr face and assaulted during a game, resulting in him then being booked, for the second time in almost as many games, then they bloody charge for not controlling our players [rude word deleted] Muppets Posted that on the official boards just after I saw the news on SSN ...I think it sums up things pretty well!
Nuclearsox Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Come on. Fair's fair. At times on here we look at things through blue and white spectacles. You can clearly see from the picture below that Morten has his shirt untucked. Guilty as charged.
Hughesy Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I think its time we went public on the FA and referee’s treatment of our club and how biased they are against us with handing out free-kicks, yellows/ reds etc, its pathetic. Arteta went for Pedersen, so Pedersen got booked as did Arteta. Newcastle player tries to choke Pedersen with his arm, BOTH teams jump in, Rovers get charged! Samba wins ball with foot high – Fulham get free-kick. Fulham player did exactly the same in 1st half, no free-kick to Blackburn. Everton – Johnson hits the ground 25 times and wins 20 free-kicks. Other times he is told to get up, no booking for Diving. Fulham’s Eddie Johnson dived 3 times, referee didn’t give a free-kick, he told him to get up – but no booking. Please add more if you can remember them all! Other examples of big team syndrome. Taylor gets a straight red for tackle on Eduardo, Bendtner does as bad a challenge just didn’t catch him as bad, he gets away with it. Gallas kicks out at Ronaldo, clear on replay, FA take no action. Flamini jumps into Nani two footed but Nani was too quick, no action!
