If you read the previous posts you will see that it is a comparison between the two places. So, TG I am neither an idiot nor a fool, unlike you my friend, who it seems has taken the biscuit when it comes to calling names. :rolleyes:

Why are they even relevant as comparisons?

Your other points describe positive and negative aspects (rat infested hovel, more facilities and amenities, cleanliness, red light districts etc), and your whole post was comparing the two towns so either the numbers of Asians and gay bars was either a positive or negative comparison.

Which of the two was it?

Twas neither a positive nor a negative my friend, it was simply a comparison. Just because there are more gay people in Portsmouth doesnt make it a bad place likewise with the Asian population in Blackburn.

The issue was simply to give sort of comparison of the places or the two football teams. I apologise if the gay thing upset you, even more so if the comment on Asian population. But, if they upset you they are based on facts alone.

I now suppose though that the saying "The truth hurts" has come home to roost somewhere. :rolleyes:

BTW if you want to know why North End is a rat infested hovel, here goes. It is mainly built on the site of a WWII ammunitions site that was never ever cleansed before building homes.

What do you mean...what I think he meant or do I see it as a positive or negative thing myself?

Only the bigoted would see more asians or more gay people as a negative thing for a town. Personally I don't see it as a positive or a negative thing but it's fairly obvious he listed them as negative factors.

When people are comparing towns they usually compare the pros and cons, I have to say I don't really buy that it wasn't a 'positive' or a 'negative', there's literally hundreds of neutral irrelevant factors you can list when comparing towns but you just happened to choose those two. But there's little point in continuing this as I have no way of proving it. I'm sure they are based on facts but they have no place in comparing how good the two places places are, especially when listed alongside the other things.

I have no issue with you calling some place in Portsmouth a rat infested hovel, I've never been there, it may very well be one.

I think Wupert's weturn is about the least of their problems.

Hear there may be some really bad issues coming there soon...I don't want to expand on that right now.

I think we should just take it as it's said - there will be money available for players. I suspect that at a club like rovers, that amount isn't set in stone anyway. Hopefully, if a player becomes available, that is going to cost a bit more than expected, JW would go the extra mile to get him.

I think that is absolutely right and has been the case in recent years. Rovers seem to have a policy, a very wise one, of only buying reasonably priced players that will improve the first eleven. Williams has stated this several times and i remain sure if the manager provides the justification, the club will provide the cash.

Which is why, as Revidge put it, I was a little cycnical about the timing of the announcement.

I just hear that there is a big financial matter coming to a head at Southampton but until I get more details I will leave it at that.

Would have to upset Wupert and his cronies, of course.

Financial matter? Dont tell me the directors are resorting to nicking handbags as well as the players are they?

I think it would take a lot of handbags to sort their mess out.
