Nicko, you seem to be answering a weekly question on Bentley, but any truth in the Liverpool story today?

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is confident of beating off competition from Atletico Madrid to land Blackburn's David Bentley in a sensational £12million swoop.

Also, any truth in the Gravesen rumour? Ideally we would be targetting someone younger...

The Liverpool story says the price is 12 million and that Bentley has a couple of years of his contract left...so I will let you judge whether it should be taken seriously.

The Gravesen link has to be one of the stupidest stories I have ever seen.

I wonder what the odds are on Jewell being sacked before the end of the season. What with this "tape" coming out.

Joking aside...if you look at the pix of his face I think you will see he is [a] much younger, much slimmer and [c] has lots more hair.

So you can take it that the video is about five or six years old.

It's all very strange.

But I don't think he will be sacked over this. Whether he quits is down to him and Mrs Jewell.

I believe the size of his wealth was mentioned by a far superior financial expert than myself... ;)

Signing players was and still is needed. However Coyley won't take any old crap. He has bid for several but lost out on most for various reasons. The owner/chief shareholder has backed him all of the way in the players he has chased.

The Argie would have been good for the left wing and the shortage of a good keeper has been costly.

I'm not sure some of the players want to get promoted badly enough. It is the same with many other teams in the hunt - they would rather be good in the Championship than at the wrong end of the Premier League.

That might explain why teams with no fear and bad memories of top-flight kickings are doing well. Stoke, Bristol City and Hull are going close while Watford and West Brom seem to lack the hunger for all of their superior squads.

Odd, but it's human nature.

That article just seems like they've added lots of litle bits n' bobs to it as they went along, picking names and teams on bits of paper, out of a hat...

Bentley wants to leave... and er, Liverpool are going to sign him for..... £4million, wait, no... thats not that reasonable or believable, pick another one out... er, £12million.... yeah, that sounds about right.

what else? ...well, we know Blackburn are offering a new contract currently... which he hasn't signed yet... so, in theory, he must be stalling on it... obviously because he wants one of the big 4 to come in for him... I mean, why would he want to play for Blackburn?

Yeh... put that down! ...and, lets add that Liverpool could easily offer him double what Blackburn are offering him, because they're just a small town club and Liverpool are one of the big 4 and a mighty team.

Now... let's contradict ourselves by making the last statement useless by saying Bentley is not motivated by money...

and to get more people interested in the story, let's add that Capello has told him to leave Blackburn too.

Thats why I PM'd you Nicko, asking which journo's do you know that generally tell it right... as there seems to be soo many about now that just make cr*p up....

Reputedly Liverpool only valued Damien Duff at 7 million..... until Chelsea blew em out of the water.

Incidentally, could it be the blonde in the Paul Jewell pictures is his wife? (also a few years ago with a different hairstyle and pre-surgery perhaps)

I've just had an unpleasant thought that the blonde in the pics could even be Robby Savage! :o

Bullard to Blackburn is what I have been hearing...

I doubt he'd move back up north again, if (when) Fulham go down he will probably move to another southern team I'd think because thats the main reason he went down to Fulham in the first place.

Well I don't know the ins and outs ofit but I believe that the medical staff give him a series of tests.. :lol:

Bullys fine now, knees fixed good and proper.

Lovely lad, decent player, but no-one would insure him after that horrible injury. It's not happening.
