Was looking at your clarrots fiends (intentional sp) league table, they are still only 4 points off the pace, results must have gone favourably.

4 points behind 6th, but 8 points behind 5th. Two of the teams above them outside of the playoffs have a game in hand, as do two of the teams in the playoffs.

They haven't got a prayer.

Not quite...heard a similar argument about Rovers and sixth last week and we know that was tripe.

Need a keeper and a left winger by Thursday. If they get them I start believing again.

The point is that six straight wins would do ANYONE just now who wants to finish in the top six.

Do you want it or don't you is the question...I know the manager does.

If Ipswich or Wolves win their game in hand the Dingles will be 6 points behind at best. The chance was there for them two games ago, and they well and truly bottled it. I look forward to their long drawn out relegation battle next season.

Irrelevant what other teams do - six straight wins does it. Five out of six might do it, but while there are six to win then six it should be.

Chances like this do not come round that often, so now is the time to get a couple of class loans in.

Not necessarily irrelevant considering the number of teams now bunched up. Plus, the competitiveness of the league makes even 5 of 6 very unlikely, even if they could get in Damien Duff and Brad!!

Nicko any news of any clubs being interested in Mokoena?

Kinda hoping that there may be some interest as the guy is quite frankly rubbish.

Beginning to think Hughes feels the same as he hasn't played him much since the African cup of nations and the signing of Vogel surely would impact on his chances in the future.

OK...add 18 points to Burnley's current 55 and the total of 73 would get you in the top six.

Come back and check that at the end of the season. It won't take that much, most of them are dropping points and sh***ing themselves.

What do you make of the clubs chances, that will get relegated from the Premiership, Fulham, Derby and say Bolton, of bouncing straight back up?

Derby will have to start again...those players won't win in any company.

You never know with Fulham. The owner is a bit up and down when it comes to enthusiasm. Not sure Woy is there for the long-term. Too many questions to give a straight answer.

Bolton would lose a lot of players. Jaaskelainen, Nolan and Davies - probably happy to see the back of Campo and Diouf. So that will be a struggle.

Birmingham would take it hard. Big Alex was a gamble of an appointment because he has no English club experience. It is starting to show. Would lose a few too.

So, in other words, the Championship will be wide open again next season.

Not saying 18 points wouldn't do it, saying that it's very unlikely they will get 18 points, even if they get in a great left winger and a great keeper on loan.

It's still there...if they want it. Barnsley at home a week before the FA Cup semi, Norwich with nothing to play for, Sheff U at home, Southampton away, Cardiff at home and Palace away. The last two will probably have nothing to play for by then.

If they sign the two they want, it's possible. If they don't, they won't.

Birmingham have the experience of the Championship, so if they got relegated they would be my favourites.

Megson should be able to get Bolton up considering his experience in the lower leagues.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hodgson was moved up to director of football or a similar position and John Collins is appointed.

IF Hull go up, and Bolton go down... I can see Phil Brown going in for some of his old "pals" at Bolton. probably Gardner or Hunt as a fullback.

Possibly - Although Ipswich only need 5 wins from 7 to better that amount. Not to mention the Dingles negative goal difference, worth another point itself. The other 3 in the playoffs will be nearer 80 points.

If Burnley win 6 out of 6 I'll buy you a season ticket there next year. If they've got enough left

As Burnley are giving away season tickets for nothing if they are promoted that is a very kind offer of yours. ;)

As laughable as that would be, I believe they're only giving them away to those that were daft enough to renew for this season. Perhaps you're already in line for one?

It was about the worst decision I've ever seen. Roy Keane didn't even appeal for the free kick. In fact, none of the United players did.

Still, how boring would Anfield have been if we'd won the league a game early? :D

Without Gerald Ashby we would have beaten the Mancs at Ewood and without Paul Durkin we would have drawn at OT. That would have been a swing of 9 points to Rovers and a 10 point margin would have more accurately reflected the respective abilities of the two sides that season.

........ talk of going down easy is irrelevant, Samba should not have given Heskey the option.

It is relevent. At long last refs are now starting to punish petulant behaviour against them. It has taken a very long time but with the right media coverage and backing from genuine supportrs, it has shown that it can be done.

We now need to rid the game of play acting and 'going down easy' (or easily) which is football speak for cheating. A season or so ago Alan Shearer was in the studio covering a game. Can't remember who he was talking about but he said the striker in question who 'won' a penalty 'got clever' in having the penalty awarded for his team. In other words he went down and cheated and even Shearer on national tv was advocating this sort of behaviour. I think the time is right for getting tough on these Heskey-like 'tart-fairies.'

On the other side of the coin though a lot of the time a striker is impeded in the box by a defender having his hands all over the player or being obstructed by a trailing leg and those extra couple of seconds lost can easily make the difference between scoring and not scoring. We saw an incident on Sunday with Rooney, can't remember which defender it was (Carragher?) but he stuck a leg out, caught Rooney who then stumbled but to his great credit decided to stay on his feet and try and finish it, but by then the chance had got considerably harder for him. In truth it probably deserved to be a penalty but Rooney not going down meant nothing was given.

I do completely agree with the sentiment of your post and that true divers are a scourge on the game, and also this disease is spreading to players who wouldnt have considered it before. We saw Bentley have a go on Saturday which was a shame to see. But sometimes there is a grey area there where a striker is unfairly impeded when trying to score and feels he has to go down in order to convey this to the referee as its denied him from scoring.

I love the guys who don't go down easily. It warms the cockles of my heart even though they might have won a penalty. They play yhe game in the true spirit.

Those who spring to mind immediately are Dunny, Jason Roberts and Rooney.

In my memory of us in the Prem Flitcroft and Batty being the best midfield examples of that spirit. Gave it but could take it too without complaint. 'Proper' football players.
