BiggusLaddus Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 ..but a good shout in my opinion Bentley running riot against France or Reading ...ummm? Hopefully he'll come back to us thinking he has something to prove. Also hopefully Beckham will have a stinker and need subbing at half time and Bentley will totally eclipse him in the second half and turn the whole Beckham worship thing into an anticlimax (maybe even pop in a Beckham-esque free kick for good measure?).

Gav Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 If Beckham is picked ahead of Bentley it totally makes a total mockery of the selection procedure. Whilst I agree Beckham does deserve his 100th cap, Bentley has been outstanding in recent weeks, whilst Beckham has been plying his trade against market stall holders and waiters in the Far East. I’m sure Fabio wants to get this milestone out of the way, but picking him ahead of Bentley is disgusting. To add to the gloom: PICKING RIO FERDINAND AS CAPTAIN, HAS AGAIN MADE SURE I HAVE NO INTEREST IN WATCHING THE NATIONAL SIDE FROM HERE ON IN. Come on the frogs.
brfcshabba Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Looking at the lineup, we haven't exactly moved on that much since Sven.
herbergeehh Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 It's a friendly though? Anyway... what's Wes Brown doing there? Could be worse though, you could be two nil down against Montenegro. Awful 1st half.
Fife Rover Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Totally not getting the point, Fife. You complain that the prices are so high and the players make too much money, yet you fund the league by paying for television subscriptions that help put more money in the league coffers. A bit hypocritical, if you ask me. If you really were against the money in the league, you wouldn't subscribe to the television package and go watch a low level team in the area that isn't available on tv. I have already done that American. Until the end of last season in fact I was a regular attender at either Cowdenbeath in div 2 or East Fife in div 3. But as I just explained I can only very rarely get out to Footie matches now. Am I supposed to just switch off and not even watch on the TV as well?
Hughesy Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Capello said it is all about form - if that is the case - after bentley has just played his best game of the season, why is beckham playing instead?? Pathetic!
Cocker Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 PICKING RIO FERDINAND AS CAPTAIN, HAS AGAIN MADE SURE I HAVE NO INTEREST IN WATCHING THE NATIONAL SIDE FROM HERE ON IN. Come on Gav it could have been worse.......................................it could have been wesley brown
Exiled_Rover Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 It's a friendly though? Anyway... what's Wes Brown doing there? Could be worse though, you could be two nil down against Montenegro. Awful 1st half. Is Pedersen playing?
brfcshabba Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 I hope we have an absolute nightmare in the first half
alexanders Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Is Pedersen playing? He was in the line-up, but I actually didn't notice him being involved at all. Got subbed before 2nd half.
92er Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Healey going on loan to Ipswich, according to 5 Live.
roversmum Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 I have already done that American. Am I supposed to just switch off and not even watch on the TV as well? Take no notice, Fife. Mr Roversmum is still able to get to matches, but he'd be lost without his football on tv and I don't care where the money goes as long as it keeps him happy.
philipl Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Obviously Bents needs to play for a big club like LALA land.
T4E Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Healey going on loan to Ipswich, according to 5 Live. That's a great signing for one of the teams looking for a late promotion push.
baxendenblue Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Working hard...but getting a few slaps. Ben Foster was the keeper. Man U were loaning him, now they have decided against. Won't play for them and can't play in Europe, but Sir wants to keep him now. Other targets been contacted but there are some lazy people in the Premier who would rather take a salary and do nowt than play. The left winger should be sorted out tomorrow. One way or another. The club - who wil be named if it goes wrong - are letting the agent decide which club their player should join. Farce. Lots of Championship moves on just now. Stoke, Cardiff and Crystal Palace all busy. Interesting Thanks Nicko
Rathbone Market Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 I have it on good authority that Berbatov has bought a place in/around Liverpool...if anyone cares! Might put a bet on for United to get him. If true might kick-start a chain of transfers elsewhere?

Fife Rover Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Take no notice, Fife. Mr Roversmum is still able to get to matches, but he'd be lost without his football on tv and I don't care where the money goes as long as it keeps him happy. Thanks for that Mum. It is nice to know there are still some people around with a bit of human understanding. I have already admitted in various posts over the last months that I feel myself that I have a huge dilemma and conflict within myself. This was before I had got to the stage of not being able to go out and stand on a cold terrace at Cowdenbeath or East Fife, and sitting on a wooden plank seat in the ramshackle stands is no better. But although I miss my little teams almost as much as I miss Rovers, they are at the end of the day not as close to my heart as Rovers; no other team ever could be. So I console myself with the thought that I can still see the Rovers at least on TV, even though it does go against the grain of my stance against the way corruption and money have taken over our game. There is nothing more I can do about it; I have given my views and reasons enough times on here and elswhere, but there is only so much one man on his own can do. If the rest dont believe it, or worse still dont want to believe it, there is nothing else I can do about it.
Pinch Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Axe injured Santa Cruz with a tackle in today's SA v. Paraguay friendly (forcing him out of the match halfway thru the first half). That is unlucky. I know which of the two I'd prefer to have out of our lineup. Nicko, any word on Cruz's condition?

If you really were against the money in the league, you wouldn't subscribe to the television package and go watch a low level team in the area that isn't available on tv. I think his point (he stated that he could not travel 8 miles to get to his local game) was that there are many people, who have basically a choice of watching football on TV or no football at all - due to age, infirmity, unable to travel, can't afford to travel etc. Rover supporters are all over the country, who often cannot afford the travel costs to get to the games. When it comes to priority family or football - then family has to come first - another reason why many do not go to live games.
PAFELL Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Thanks for that Mum. It is nice to know there are still some people around with a bit of human understanding. If the rest dont believe it, or worse still dont want to believe it, there is nothing else I can do about it. I have read your recent posts on this subject - in my view you do not have to justify or otherwise to anybody on here. You have clearly explained why you are unable to go to live matches and all on this site should apprieciate the position you are in. Having already given a lot of you life to football - especially Rovers - seeing the good as well as the bad days - you should not consider feeling 'guilty'(I want for a better word) that you have to sit at home watching on the TV the game you love. When the various negative comments about Rovers are put on this site I often wonder would these people support Rovers if they ended up being relegated to the bottom of the football league - or are they glory hunters. A true football supporter of a particular club supports that club through thick and thin no matter the league position they are in - even if were reduced to doing so on TV. It is just over a decade that Rovers have had the success they have had - so you would have seen, in comparison to today, more of the bad times than the good and are still a Rovers supporter. So again I say you do not need to justify yourself to anybody with regards to attending or not attending live games. Keep the remote handy.
thenodrog Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 It is just over a decade that Rovers have had the success they have had - tempus fugit....... Its nearer to two decades now mum. Where's it gone?
alexanders Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Healey going on loan to Ipswich, according to 5 Live. Is he ready for Saturdays clash against QPR?
