Bradley was talked about in the "realistic moves" thread. He must have impressed someone to be followed like this. I've never heard of the other kid though.

Do you follow the USMNT at all? I try not to. I saw him in the last Concacaf gold cup. He does seem to be an all-action midfielder, not afraid to put in a tackle - which is a prerequisite to play for a "bully boys" club like rovers ;) and now he's scoring goals at a decent level. Personally, I can't see him being worth 4.5m. If we are going to spend that much on a yank midfielder I'd like to see if we could pluck Dempsey from Fulham (as other posters had mentioned) - I think he's demonstrated that he can be a player at this level (not the Championship w/ the rest of the cottagers). Fulham might actually have a few assets that would be worth picking off IMO.

Heerenveen want £4.5m for Bradley - that's the price they have been quoting. That could come down obviously and I would reckon something less - plus extras for appearances - might do it.

As he is young and decent I think it is a reasonable price range.

Interesting you said we had 10 million to spend. Thing is if we blow half of that on a midfielder we are looking at having to stretch 5m to get in a left winger and a striker.

I've banged on about this a bit but just out of interest has Sparky expressed an interest in Kewell? I hear a rumour we offered to take him on loan this season?

Heerenveen have a nasty habit of getting their asking price for players as Boro found out when they signed Alves who had all but gone on strike in Holland.

Will be interesting to find out what the Spuds players' mindset is currently. Ramos certainly got a performance from them after indicating most of them will be out of the door this summer- problem for Ramos, it wasn't the performance he had in mind.

From the top of this page right down to this post , I have not been able to understand or fathom a single one of the posts! What on Earth are you all gibbering about?

Morrissey, former lead 'singer' of The Smiths. It was a bit of an 'in' joke but quite amusing nonetheless. It would have gone over a lot of heads...like one of MGP's poorer crosses. ;)

In a way I'll be sad to see you lot go down, Fulham, Bolton and us all came up together and it looks like we will be losing two of the longest surviving promoted teams. I think it is the only time all three teams that came up lived so long in the Prem. I have actually enjoyed watching Fulham this year they have, to me, at least tried to play some decent footy and have had the devils luck with some of their results. I'd much rather see the like of Brum go down that you lot. Good luck and don't stop visiting if you don't make it.

Well I have looked at the table and although it is not looking good for Fulham at present, I would not say they are definitely down. Only Derby so far are in that awful position, so I would say to ffan: dont give up hope just yet, look at what West Ham did last year. Also I fully concurr with what USABlue has said.

Bradley is certainly still not the finished article, as I said in the "targets" thread I think... he's a box-to-box type in his ethic and desire, but at the smae time, the youth and inexperience means he can go hiding. Having watch pretty much every NT match he's featrued in, He has equally great (Poland) and poor (most recent Mexico) games, and I can't yet pinpoint why. Also since his daddy's the USANT coach, he'll get called away quite a bit for that duty.

that being said, I agree with the sentiment above, Bradley is the most promising young American in terms of being able to hang in the prem in the midfield role, but personally I still see him as a yaer or two away from that form/ability. I don't think of Dempsey as a midfielder any more, and to be fair, he had a good month early on, but over the season, Dempsey seems to have been fairly dire since.

I kinda live in Cork from where the lad comes from and my son plays soccer and I can tell you that Gearoid Morrisey is a very very good young player, been the talk of the city for a long while as was Conor Hourihane who recently signed with Sunderland and is doing extremely well.

Also just to note there is an absolutely unbelievable amount of talent in Cork and in Ireland.

Best get scouting and save some pennies.

You're from Ireland?

Are you the only Fulham fan on the island then, I know how it feels

No but my wife and kid live there.

But when I do live there, it is a very lonely place to be a fulham fan, so yeah i know how you feel

Nicko, you have been right usually on stories connected to our club. I know you have repeated a few times that you think Bentley will sign a new contract, but every interview (see below) he gives now is making me think that he is likely to leave in the summer.

Is it fair to conclude that if Blackburn are not playing in Europe next season, Bentley is more likely to sign for a club, such as Liverpool, who are competing there? “I won't answer that; I'll leave it up to you to decide,” he said.

I have just seen the same thing on another sports site. It doesn't look promising but I would like to see what he has to say for himself at the end of the season if we do get europe instead of just jurno speculation from Bents now regular round of transfer bating

David Bentley interview in the Times

I wouldn't read too much into it. I think he is using the fact that Rovers have yet to sort out this contract problem to do some flirting. You can't altogether blame him.

I still think he will re-sign. I also don't think there is a Big Four club for him...so why move just for the sake of it?

Liverpool have about three right wingers at the last count and while he would be good in their set-up I don't think he is Spanish enough for Rafa...although the lady from The Times is obviously quite taken with him.

Nicko, small note for you from the reserves tonight, not going to make the back page but Steve Davis (ex Dingles captain and i believe he is on the staff there) was in the crowd tonight. Just thought it could be interestign for you to look into.

Cheers for the tip...just looked at the teams and I think he wasted a trip. ;) But, then again, maybe not.

How Bolton could stick so many seniors out and drop the kid Wolze is beyond me. That is a club in trouble.

Lucas Neill was looking for a major pay day and was not interested where he went...which is why he picked struggling West Ham over Liverpool.

I don't think Bentley is the same type and he is also younger and knows that he needs to be at the right club for his England chances.

Neill was also in the last few months of his contract, so Rovers had to get him out for some money. That does not apply with Bentley.

I think and hope this will go away as an issue soon and Bentley signs this new deal.

The hold-up is about money and agent's fees...if he wanted out they wouldn't even be talking.

Keep the faith.
