bluebruce Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 Dear Lord some people are thick.... I'll say for the 100th time at least. Beckham's 'contract' is not all footballing. That reported figure includes merchandise sales, a reported stake in the club (in fact in a recent interview he hinted that he has an option to buy the club outright at the end of the curernt deal), appearance fees, etc.... His actual footballing wage is reportedly $5 ot 6.5 mil /year which doesn't put him on the list and is not extravagant. editing to add link and clean up spelling: All MLS player wages Oh! My sincerest apologies for not stalking you across the board and seeing your comments on Beckham's contract. This CLEARLY makes me thick! Rather than 'not-a-saddo-stalking-loser'. Patronising pillock.

bluebruce Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 Nearly every end of season we get this who'd be good for Rovers from a relegated prem side, does nobody ever think that they are in a relagation doomed side because they are rubbish. In addition to the examples some others gave- Bentley was in the Norwich side that got relegated, just before we brought him in on loan.
T4E Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 I wouldn't mind Steven Davis who is on loan at Rangers from Fulham He's a cracking player, he's having another great game tonight against Sporting. Can't say I'd paid him too much attention at Villa or Fulham, but he's fast becoming a favourtie at Ibrox.
ffan Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 He was absolutely poo this season. Too lightweight for the Prem this term but excels in European football because of its slower pace and more time on the ball.
USRoverME Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 Patronising pillock. qft, expecting people to know about what they speak.... silly me!
bluebruce Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 qft, expecting people to know about what they speak.... silly me! You're right, they should extensively research it, assuming that the various media sources it kept being touted on were all wrong. I should have personally written to Mr. Beckham and asked him about it, perhaps. You've enlightened me, every time I make any kind of statement, I will prepare enough supporting evidence to fill a notebook.

You know how these Beckham things are. I'm not sure what you're getting so worked up about.
JAL Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 I`ll give you what i consider to be above average players Jaskelinen Bullard Simon Davies Villa (possibly) and as much as id hate to say diouf these players could walk into a top ten team imo Simon Davies ...are you Welsh, your having a laugh.., top ten team player my arse, Jaskelinen has been good though until recently when he threw one in against Liverpool, Diouf no, cant comment on the others never seen them.
Hughesy Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 Some of them may be able to walk into a top 10 side, but not many would make it in a top 6 side, and thats where we want to be. If we want to improve and push further then we need to look for better quality.
SAS Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 Simon Davies ...are you Welsh, your having a laugh.., top ten team player my arse, Jaskelinen has been good though until recently when he threw one in against Liverpool, Diouf no, cant comment on the others never seen them. Diouf, even though we hate him, he would play for a top team, you watch who he goes to in the summer Jussi, one mistake............. WOW
LeChuck Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 Diouf has Newcastle written all over him. Davies would do a very good Kuqi-esque role for top 10 side
American Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 Diouf has Newcastle written all over him. Davies would do a very good Kuqi-esque role for top 10 side I see Diouf going overseas to a decent, but not top, club.
SAS Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 Davies isnt classed as a good player tho Any team he is in, will be relegated
tcj_jones Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 As much as I hate the donkey faced spitter, he is a very good footballer. I'd imagine he'd move abroad and hope I'll never have to see his face again.

jprover4life Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 nicko...jus a quick question really. was just wondering if you've heard of anyones interest in the Zenit St Petersburg player, Andrei Arshavin, played last night in the UEFA Cup against Leverkusen, and seemed to destroy them!!! heard the commentator saying hes Russias gem, and he looked an outstanding player with lightening pace!
broadsword Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Davies isnt classed as a good player tho Any team he is in, will be relegated Mite unfair on Davies, who's turned his career around at Bolton. Still remember laughing my head off when he screwed up a one-on-one with Friedel when he was at Soton..
b12_simon Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Mite unfair on Davies, who's turned his career around at Bolton. It's more like "found his level", IMO.
Hughesy Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Davies isnt bad at holding a ball up and winning free-kicks but he is no premier league goalscorer really. Championship is more his level - oh well looks like he will get to see that next year!

Personal favourite of mine...the last I heard Tottenham and Newcastle looked at him but it's a lot of money. I would love to see him in the Premier League, clever player with a bit of an edge. Top quality.
Commondore Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 I don't really have a great insight into Zenith Petersburg's economy, but most of the top teams in Russia have there own Abramovich and are stinking rich. This means that their players are on huge contracts and the clubs really have no reason to sell them. There are a lot of good players in those countries, and the only one that has actually moved anywhere in the last 5 years or so is, as far as I can remember, Elano... EDIT: Grammar check...
QOTSA Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Hey Nicko, you were on the ball with the Santa Cruz to Blackburn story. He said he was supposed to join another club prior to Rovers but wouldn't divulge who. Was it Zaragoza or City?

Man City thought they could do better and he fancied England more than Spain.
LeChuck Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Wasn't it Betis, not Zaragoza? 99% sure it was, but I can't find anything on the internet to support this.
T4E Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 I remember it being Betis as well. I'm sure the original Nicko's thread would back that up - I seem to remember a link that claimed he'd actually signed for them.
