It is. Very very few kids growing up with dreams of being a professional footballer ever get near to even the Vauxhall conference never mind the Prem.

Indeed, but bearing in mind some of Reid's recent performances, I would suggest some of those kids you refer to would perform better than Reid. Lets just hope he is still getting to grips with things after a long lay-off. He should have maybe praticed passing the ball foward when he was out injured.

Mind, good pass to Bentley yesterday for our goal.

Davis has been decent since he joined Rangers, and has improved the team a bit, but that wasn't too difficult. Personally I would rather Hemdani play when he is back fit.

I don't see him improving on what we've already got and is nothing special, so for £3.5m no way, not even for £2m in my view.

I think Davis could be good but for less than the prices quoted. Martin O' Neill didn't fancy him (but he prefers Zat @#/? to Gary Cahill) and Fulham under Sanchez was not the club for him. Maybe something has gone wrong for him but I think it could be brought back.

I think pretty much anybody could improve our midfield. A past it Dunn and a crocked Reid are a shocking first choice pair for a Premier League club with top 6 ambitions...

I really like Milner and think he's be a good signing if Bentley were to go.

The likes of Pennant, Lennon, Milner and Johnson would all be decent replacements if Bentley were to leave and I reckon we'd have a fair chunk left to spend improving other areas of the squad after filling his position.

I'd really like to keep Bentley, but I don't think his departure would be the end of the world, or be nearly as big a loss as, say, Bellamy's.

What do people think about Milner? Good potential signing?

Or maybe Lennon & Huddleston for Bents?

Sorry I'm not intentially trying to constantly berate you, and it is nothing personal but;

Why on earth do you keep throwing up crazy player swap suggestions where teams offer us a number of personnel instead of any cash?

I cannot for the life of me remember a transfer in history when a club has thrown multiple players at a club in an attempt to sign a player. One player and cash maybe, but there is absolutely no chance that Spurs, or any other club are going to attempt to sign Bentley by offering numerous squad players to us.

i thought michael bradley was a central midfielder??

for me if we was to sell bentley i think getting pennant + cash would be a good deal..

if we got straight cash (say 15million)-we would probably spend more then half trying to buy a decent enough replacement..whereas if we get pennant plus cash-we have a decent enough replacement and plus cash to spend in other positions..

id prefer pennant to lennon-for me lennon is all about pace nothing else to his game..pennant has pace and a decent cross on him..

thats if tho..hopefully it wont happen..

Got to say don't really see the logic in this, I'd much prefer the cash. If we got Pennant + cash then we'd get much less cash anyway, probably no more than half of what we would have got since he's a regular first team player for them. I'd much rather have the whole cash and being able to pick who we wanted to buy. Lennon and Pennant arent the only two right wingers around.

Beattie / Ostenstad / Davies was a bit complicated.

Because the likes of Tottenham and Newcastle are supposed to be havingbig clear outs - so if they are two of them (as the press suggest) then would it not make sense for them to use them rather than an extra £15m cash?

Have just returned from hols in France and been trawling through 2 weeks of stuff on here. Hadn't seen Bentley's comments after the England game until now, but, having been at the game I can see exactly where he's coming from. You could sense his frustration when he came on at getting so little time in a game where the inability of Beckham to run more than once every twenty mins and the fact that Wes Brown was playing right wing had slowed the pace of the game to less than walking pace. When England got the ball they kept passing it out to the left where Downing played it back to the central midfield and the agame just never came to Bentley. He tried to inject pace but nobody else was playing by the time he got on and he ended up doing nothing really. The game must have been absolutely dire to watch on TV because it was appalling in the ground. The death of the big French commentator the day before had upset the French team and they struggled to do anything in the game either and all the French people we spoke to were just relieved that they got the pen and won. The biggest excitement for us was my daughter getting locked in the loo for about 20 mins!

Lorient Marseille last Sunday however, was an excellent game for spectators. Cisse looked a real threat when he came on for Marseille but it was end to end stuff and with about 30 shots on goal according to L'Equipe either side could have won though unfortunately Marseille did. Managed to get free tickets for the game though so couldn't really complain.

Was talking to some French people in a bar last week and they were saying in the light of the PSG racism carry on how much they like watching English football, not because of the quality of the game but because they love the way we've cleaned up our game and don't need to have fences around our grounds, and women and kids can go to matches without being afraid of what might happen to them. There are still several grounds in France where people don't take their kids apparently cos it's too scary.

I wonder if the days of mixed crowds will come back. One place where this happens is Fulham. I think it is a designated 'neutrals area' but when it shows the goals on TV there are always some fans jumping up and some sitting down no matter which team scores.

You were spot on about the first bit but my Rangers supporting mates say he has been fantastic, especially in Europe, where the pace of the game is much much slower.

Any chance Hodgson will get the old p45?

I watched him playing for Rangers against Porto the other night and he showed a few nice touches early on, but long before the end of the game he was blowing and looked completely knackered.

I really like Hemdani as a player, but he's very much like Tugay in the sense that he can often be an unaffordable luxury. He's usually very good in Europe, but struggles to displace the more solid likes of Thomson and Davis in the SPL. And thats with very often playing a 5 man midfield.

Good player, but he wouldnt be suited for the Premier League.
