Nicko, do you know if we are still looking at Tom Soares at Palace?

Like the look of him so far. Victor Moses looks a real prospect as well, bags of confidence and pace. They are both a bit rough around the edges, but definitely something there. Along with Sinclair, the are causing Stoke real problems.

Correct. It's between us, Villa and Man City. Whoever finishes higher gets into the intertoto. The Portsmouth situation is irrelevant now, we just could do with beating them. :rover:

I may have this wrong - it's been a long day, but what about if Portsmouth were to finish 5th, above Everton? Wouldn't we then need Portsmouth to win the cup? Although it's a 7 point gap, Portsmouth have a game in hand (away at West Ham tomorrow) and Everton have still to play Chelsea, Arsenal, Villa and the newly rampant Geordies. Given they are not playing well they could fall apart yet.

There was a scout there tonight from Rovers...but not a leading one.

He looks like a poor man's Huddlestone to me.

It angers me to see Sinclair making a difference for a promotion-chasing team...for reasons I don't want to repeat right now.

The Championship is so wide open that it only takes one or two quality loan deals to make it happen.

It's a strange league, didn't realise till last night the Bristol City, who are top of the league, have a goal difference of 0. Never would of thought that. Stoke didn't look like a team who are challenging for the top spot.

Just spotted that Soares is 21, the same age as Huddlestone, thought he was a fair bit younger.

Sinclair would of been a decent signing for your mate. Did you say at the time that Celtic wanted too much for Riordan? he would of bagged a few in that league.

I think someone is just a little upset that the Dingles are not coming up this year

Nicko's right though. It is a joke that the best way to get promotion to the richest league in the world is to bung short term cash into building a Premier League reserve XI. If Stoke especially come up, all their loan signings come back and they are left with a poor squad and no chance of beating even Ramsbottom County's miserable record. This is the thin end of a Feeder Club wedge for clubs in the Championship. They should be careful what they wish for.

More than peeved...

Not because clubs are loaning good young players to Championship sides, but because Chelsea went back on a promise to send Sinclair to Burnley. He would make a difference anywhere at that level.

It's football, people always go back on agreed deals. Coventry were spitting feathers about the Freddy Eastwood saga

Chelsea are the worlds worst as well. Their owner is hardly a respectable pillar of the community and as for Peter Kenyon, well he couldn't even lie straight in bed.

Nicko, in that case, what went wrong with Sinclair at Charlton?

Who would you rate highest out of Sinclair and Adam Johnson?

Pardew didn't fancy him after seeing him play and Chelsea recalled him. Worse still, Chelsea didn't know they could recall him and send him out again - until Burnley told them. Then they send him to Palace instead.

Don't worry, they will get theirs...

I think both Sinclair and Johnson are excellent. Pace is something you can't put in a player. You can always make them better techincally and in understanding team play, but you can't make someone run faster.

No, the gap is closing remember! Nicko is just gutted because Burnley havent signed any of his loan signings they wanted. Staying down forever!

Is there any chance Rovers would be interested in either of them Nicko?

I think that would mean selling MGP. I don't think that's on the agenda just now...but you never know. Both of them are flying machines and there is current Premier League interest in both.

The gap was closing ;) but if you don't land the players you want then it costs dearly. This has been the easiest top six to make in recent history, so a chance has been missed.

Dingles are still only 3 points off 6th aren't they despite putting in a relegation performance for the past month or so?

Which makes the form of all of the other contenders relegation form too...because that's how far they have been from the top six for the past three months. Someone will win four games in a row and make it - probably even win the play-offs.

Stoke are scared, Bristol City don't score goals, Hull are surprising everyone including themselves, Watford are ugly, West Brom are bottlers too often. Take your pick.

Shola is still some way off fitness, his movement is a lot better than what he showed last night.

If he can get his match sharpness and shooting boots on then they should go close.

Quite a few tall players in their team, so some decent service into the box from Pearson should help them, although he didn't look to sharp last night either.
