tcj_jones Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 I hate people like Warnock. What a pathetic man.

EwoodGlory Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Any truth in your mate down the road going in for Boa-Morte in the summer?
they_think_its_all_rover Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 not when this is a blackburn rovers message board ..... It wasn't directly about another club though. It was conversation about Warnock and the standards of reffing! Plus, so what if it was about another club, there's plenty of talk about other clubs on here... Fulham, Burnley, will Coventry stay up/go down?, will Coventry go bust?, will Southampton go bust?, will Leeds get their points back?, who's the next Huddersfield Town manager?, which team is Scott Sinclair going to? Is Modric going to Newcastle?, Is Modric going to Tottenham? ...Just a few off the top of my head. Some people are football fans, not just Rovers fans & like to read about such things!
Earlydoors Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Nicko, if Liverpool are after a right back where will that leave Finnan. He could be a good option for us in the summer. I'm sure we were in for Finnan two years ago just prior to him signing a new five year deal at Liverpool
nicko Posted April 28, 2008 Author Posted April 28, 2008 Any truth in your mate down the road going in for Boa-Morte in the summer? Not on those wages...
nicko Posted April 28, 2008 Author Posted April 28, 2008 Nicko, if Liverpool are after a right back where will that leave Finnan. He could be a good option for us in the summer. Finnan will probably be available, but he may well be past his best. You could do better.
joey_big_nose Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Finnan will probably be available, but he may well be past his best. You could do better. Any idea on what areas Hughes will be looking to strengthen in the summer Nicko? A month ago I would have said a central midfielder, a striker, a left winger and, if there was enough money left, a right back. However Hughes has come out and said we are not going to get in any strikers unless someone leaves. So as we need pace desperately it will be a pacy left winger in my opinion, a central midfielder and a right back. I suppose the questions are - Does Pedersen have a future at Rovers? I know we were entertaining the thought of selling him when he was very poor in the middle of the season. Will we go in for two central midfielders? Or just stick with Bradley if we get him as Vogel looks decent? Is a right back a priority given we have three players who can (sort) of play there? Is Tugay going to get an extension or a contract to be on the coaching staff?
nicko Posted April 28, 2008 Author Posted April 28, 2008 I think a midfield player and a striker are the two priorities. Mind you, I didn't see the new deal for Benni coming and will need to have that one explained to me. If anyone else left they would have to be replaced. But you can never be sure from this range, things change all of the time, players can be targets for offers and others can become available you might fancy. I think it will be a crazy summer again with some of the wannabes spending small fortunes. At this stage I think you will just have to be careful as usual.
T4E Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 On the face of things Finnan would be an excellent option. How old is he now?
nicko Posted April 28, 2008 Author Posted April 28, 2008 On the face of things Finnan would be an excellent option. How old is he now? 32. Big wages. Avoid.
T4E Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Wow, I thought he was late 20's at worst. In that case I'm with you.
Mozzer Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 http://www.tribalfootball.com/article.php?id=90099 i know its tribal-but faye from newcastle to blackburn-anything in it????

It was in The Sun. I would be surprised. He went there on big money and is no better than the four centre halves that you have.

Is Tugay going to get an extension or a contract to be on the coaching staff? well since Rovers are said to be willing to give Gamst between £45k and £50k a week to extend his contract, I guess he seems to have a future at Rovers. They wouldn't have offered him that kind of money if they wanted to get rid would they? Hopefully a player like Treacy will be able to give Gamst some serious competition next season, that will benefit Gamst I think as well as young Treacy if he get a few games.
T4E Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Theo Walcott's girlfriend Melanie Slade has slammed fellow Wags as desperate wannabes. She also says Walcott calls her "waggy" as an insult. (Daily Mirror) .........apparently it's only in retaliation to her referring to Theo as "thenodrog".
Sparky Marky Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 I think a midfield player and a striker are the two priorities. Mind you, I didn't see the new deal for Benni coming and will need to have that one explained to me. Simply, Bennie is a world class forward who's just had a bit of a quieter season than last....Hughes has done the right thing tying him up to a long term deal..... If he and Santa can fire next season, we'll be great!!!

Part of that pay rise will obviously be to bring our players in line with the new TV deal but even then... MGP is only a solid midfielder. If you were picking one position apart from central midfield that we could seriously improve then it would be left wing. We have looked at left wingers before and I am sure we will this summer. Why give him crazy money? Maybe the media have got this one wrong. McCarthy I can sort of understand as he is obviously a quality player who, if you can motivate him and get the system to accomodate him, is lethal. Pedersen on the other hand is just quite ordinary going forward whilst a very good defender. He is very easily contained when on the ball. I cannot believe that when Hughes assesses the team he won't look to bring in more attacking quality on the left. But then I suppose you could argue Pedersen will make for a decent back up.
Fife Rover Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 It was in The Sun. I would be surprised. He went there on big money and is no better than the four centre halves that you have. Is that the same Faye we had here on trial a few months back?
nicko Posted April 28, 2008 Author Posted April 28, 2008 Is that the same Faye we had here on trial a few months back? That was Amdy from Rangers [or Charlton who own him].

Hughesy Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 I think a midfield player and a striker are the two priorities. Mind you, I didn't see the new deal for Benni coming and will need to have that one explained to me. According to Hughes in the LET on saturday - it will be the 1st summer where he wont be entering the market this summer for a striker. Which suprised me as I dont believe our striking option sare good enough to move forward to the next level.

Hughesy Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Other than a central midfielder - what else theno?
LeftWinger Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Other than a central midfielder - what else theno? I'd say we need a right-back, creative midfielder and a quick striker and then I'm happy.
den Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Other than a central midfielder - what else theno? Another one. Plus a left winger, a left back and a right back
