nicko Posted May 4, 2008 Author Posted May 4, 2008 Those who backed Coventry to go down have been seriously short-changed. If anyone saw the Stoke game they will agree that there was no way an extra four minutes was played. Mike Dean got it re-started after the invasion and then was halfway to the dressing room when he blew again. Can you imagine Man U not getting their full quota of time - or the ref trying to short-change them? I have no love for Leicester but that was a farce. Mandaric, by the way, gets what he deserves. Stoke will spend a packet. Peter Coates is a wealthy guy and Tony Pulis is no mug. They are no certs to go down...especially with so much dross at the bottom end of the table.

Tom 1 Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Flamini will be a huge loss for Arsenal. And no fee either. Arsene obviously didn't see that one coming...btu as he never sees anything bad with his players that's no surprise. No idea about the Portuguese right backs and Villa. They need someone for that position. Milner is a very strong link, but no fee is agreed yet. Well the huge regret now will be selling Diarra, and he'll be the same as he would have the position for sure now. Knowing the geordies they'll be after every last penny they can get, I wouldn't want to pay a packet for him, obviously though most of us loved the guy in his loan spell. yeah we need someone, I've given up guessing though with about 10 right back links. I reckon Barry will be staying though. Is it true Blackburn are linked with Ridgewell from Birmingham...if so send Hughes some letters..DONT DO IT.
Tom 1 Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Oh and Mandaric will be jumping ship it sounds like...and looks like Holloway will be going as well.

Can you imagine Man U not getting their full quota of time - or the ref trying to short-change them? Totally agree. It hit 90mins and then 2 subs came on, that took up about 1 and a half minutes. Then at about 2 and a half minutes in the stewards lost control. I doubt Leicester would have scored, I think they lost the edge after Nash pulled off those 2 top saves in a minute.
ffan Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Oh and Mandaric will be jumping ship it sounds like...and looks like Holloway will be going as well. He is the man that caused Leicesters demise. 5 managers this season?
EwoodGlory Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 I was not best pleased when that Leicester shot came back off the post Dean bottled it, he could see he was about to get swamped and blew while he had a chance to get off the pitch.
Tom 1 Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 He is the man that caused Leicesters demise. 5 managers this season? Yep, that's what a stupid set of decisions from a board can do to a club though.
ffan Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Yep, that's what a stupid set of decisions from a board can do to a club though. If he does sell up then imo he does not deserve a chance to buy another football club ever.
John Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Nicko - couple of things: 1) Tonge to Blackburn story in two different papers today. Any truth in this? 2) Bentley is clearly very unhappy at the moment. I noticed this from his body language on the pitch over the past couple of months. Also, after speaking to him briefly yesterday, it is clear to me that he wants to leave the club. Do you know what has triggered this unhapiness??
EwoodGlory Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Probably just the fact he want to move to a bigger club. When he joins the England squad, he will here stories about players in the Champions League, massive wages etc. and will want some of that. Should of told him to ask how it went for Bellamy.

Going off his body language he does look down, dejected, frustrated. In terms of performances, i believe i have seen a major drop ever since all the transfer speculation started to gather pace. On another note, Milan claim they are signing Flamini tonight.
nicko Posted May 4, 2008 Author Posted May 4, 2008 I'm not having the Michael Tonge story in any circumstances... As for Bentley, if he wants to pout let him get on with it. He is under contract and nobody is paying £15 million. Live with it.
AggyBlue Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 As for Bentley, if he wants to pout let him get on with it. He is under contract and nobody is paying £15 million. Live with it. He obviously thought clubs would be tripping over themselves to sign him.
nicko Posted May 4, 2008 Author Posted May 4, 2008 He obviously thought clubs would be tripping over themselves to sign him. I think he is a bit confused right now. How he acts in the next few weeks is as important as how he plays. This has to be resolved before next season. I think it will be one way or another.
Grabbi Graeme Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Last summer we had the Benni to Chelsea rumours and we know how much that screwed him up hopefully Bentley wont be distracted by that.
Tris Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Bentley is clearly very unhappy at the moment. I noticed this from his body language on the pitch over the past couple of months. Also, after speaking to him briefly yesterday, it is clear to me that he wants to leave the club. Do you know what has triggered this unhapiness?? He was totally swamped in the Legends Lounge on Saturday and he'd just done a drugs test - did you expect him to sign a new contract after signing your match programme? Or give you a 10 minute interview regarding his future? I'm not surprised he was unhappy in there, it wasn't very well organised or stewarded. As for Bentley's body language over the past couple of months ... hardly worth a comment. I've been reading MGP's body language since 2004, and it's told me he thinks he can score from corners every single week.
LeftWinger Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 For those who like a little Betfair action... There is an intriguing market in the Premiership Handicap section. There are six teams still in with a chance of winning it. Rovers are the outsiders of the six at a ridiculous price if you fancy it. However Villa look extraordinary value at 8s when you consider they will probably win their last two games... You should have waited Nicko - Villa are 999-1 now. My moneys still on Arsenal, in from 10s to 4-1, but City still favourites.

I did actually ask him if he was staying with us and he pretty much said that he's not sure at this moment in time. I also said to him that the grass is not always greener on the other side etc, and he said we will have to see about that. I agree, he was swamped in there and don't think I would have been having the time of my life either. However, it is blatantly obvious that he is unhappy at the moment, and thats not because he is popular with the fans. It just seems to me that he has thrown his toys out of the pram, I am just curious as to why.....

If he directly said that, then clearly there must be something in the rumours about him wanting out or being simply considering leaving.
roversmum Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 As I have said on the Bentley thread, Bents is not the talk of Rovers at the moment, Roque has taken that position and I wouldn't blame him for being a bit miffed. However, a move to another club could well find him much further down the pecking order.
Silencio Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 It just seems to me that he has thrown his toys out of the pram, I am just curious as to why..... It's cos he's a tosser...
nicko Posted May 5, 2008 Author Posted May 5, 2008 You should have waited Nicko - Villa are 999-1 now. My moneys still on Arsenal, in from 10s to 4-1, but City still favourites. Spewing. Got five of the six results spot on in that group - and the one that matters goes wrong. Good job I had a nice treble yesterday or I might have to start working for a living...
gumboots Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 It's cos he's a tosser... And why should you say that? I think he's probably genuinely torn. Loves being here, grateful to management and fans, knows he'll play every week barring accidents. However, he has a career to think about whether we like it or not and might need to move, either for his England chances or just to play with better players against different opposition to become the best he can be. If he stays he's guaranteed to still play every week but Rovers are unlikely to break into the top 4 or get any better without massive investment. Does he therefore sign a new longer term contract with the extra wages but know that the management as it is now is likely to hold him t it and therefore if we don't qualify for Europe than he won't necessarily get out next year? Does he not move but not sign knowing that the club will have to sell him next summer if our position doesn't match his ambition? Or does he push for a move this summer and take the risk that his career might go backwards because he won't play regularly or that it just might take off and he will become the mega star he probably longs to be? It's a lot for a young man to think about and there are a lot of issues to weigh up. We still have a match to play next week that could make a difference to our season and I don't think that it's entirely fair to ask him what he's planning to do and then expose him to all the nastiness that seems to be coming his way from certain people when he doesn't say immediately "Of course I'm going to sign my new contract and stay". It's none of our business what he decides to do. We can debate it among ourselves as fans always have done but to ask him and expect an unequivocal yes seems to me a bit much.
they_think_its_all_rover Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 The big QPR announcement is that of a new club crest. Which looks like it has been modeled on Linekers ears The "shield" in the middle looks like it's been made by someone who is s**t on Photoshop.
