Sandiway Blue Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 I think Kuyt is an excellent player. Very similar to Shefki Kuqi for me (except we got Kuqi for nothing as opposed to the squillions scousers paid for Kuyt )

Beta Ray Bill Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Kuyt is a lot better than Voronin! Would we have Voronin above any of our 4 strikers? The answer is almost certainly no and for a club the size and ambition of Liverpool to have their 3rd choice striker (Crouch seems well out of it now) so weak, then it explains pretty much why they cannot sustain a challenge for the title.
Eddie Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Voronin is the better player. He's probably not as suited to English football and he hasn't had as many chances, but he's a better player than Kuyt. Anyone who saw Voronin pre-Liverpool would be happy to see him at Rovers (not that it will ever happen).
philipl Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 I remember plenty on here chuckling that Liverpool had signed a donkey when Voronin played against the Rovers in the UEFA Cup.
thenodrog Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 I remember plenty on here chuckling that Liverpool had signed a donkey when Voronin played against the Rovers in the UEFA Cup. Not me Philip. I thought he showed well against us both matches. And rem I dont know what they are paying him but Lpool hoovered him up (as is there way with quite a few recent signings) under a freedom of contract jobby.
Tom 1 Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Kuyts awful at times, all he has going for him is that he's a workhorse, the fact they made him a winger because he had so little composure up front says it all. If you believe rumours Liverpool are going a bit overboard with what they're offering us, I heard Peter Crouch and Yossi Benayoun for Barry...I know they want rid of one of them but still. To be honest I love Barry but Crouch and Benayoun wouldn't be a bad deal if the worst was confirmed and he asked to leave...obviously want to keep him though.

I wouldn't bank on it Tom, swap deals are nowhere near as easy to arrange now as they were a decade or so ago.
Tom 1 Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Na I wouldn't bank on anything with Liverpool, never simple. Like I say my first choice is keeping him, everyone knows what he means to us as a club, more than just as a player but as a character, nearly 400 apps to his name and only just gone 27. But I know our board would bargain dam hard and made sure we got a good deal if he goes. Think MON will persuade him his future is here tho.
S15 Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Voronin would be a very usefull player for us if it could ever be arranged. Especially if the current system we are using is something Hughes will persist with even if just against certain opposition.
Eddie Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 I remember plenty on here chuckling that Liverpool had signed a donkey when Voronin played against the Rovers in the UEFA Cup. Maybe so, but it would be fairly unwise to judge a player based on two viewings.
ABBEY Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Maybe so, but it would be fairly unwise to judge a player based on two viewings. why not? rover6 says it ok to judge with no viewings!!!
rover6 Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 On what basis? Torres is an excellent player Kuyt is just a workhorse. Big heart and a good engine to use football parlance but little else. If he was English I think he'd be plying his trade for a club much lower down the league if not in the fizzy pop lot. When Lpool started against us at ewood with just him up front I was well suited. More like, if he was English, the media would be creaming themselves about a great new hope. Kuyt is not really a right winger. Ideally, he should be playing up front - and he needs time to find his feet in the Premier League there. Think how long Thierry Henry spent hitting the advertising hoardings before he came good. The thing is, no one's given any time these days.
philipl Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 The thing is, no one's given any time these days. You are if you are Derby.
modes98 Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Maybe so, but it would be fairly unwise to judge a player based on two viewings. Proven correct over the season though. Everytime he has played he has looked awful and out of his depth. Kuyt offers alot more, as a striker, than Voronin.
Hughesy Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Wouldnt suprise me if we are looking at taking Kewell on a pay as your play type contract. He's out of contract next month.
ABBEY Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 pay as you play for kewell, that would cost the same as steak pud, chips ,mushies and gravy.....dont think hes worth two pieces of warbies tho for chip but and mopping up.
Hughesy Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Says in todays paper that when his contract ends he will of cost liverpool the same as £155k per game
ABBEY Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 bloody hell you could throw a spud pie and a few dabs in then hahaha
PAFELL Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Wouldn't be surprised if they ended up at one of the sides coming upto the Prem League. Rules Burnley out then.
brfcmad1979 Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Nicko am being told by a chap at work that a deal for Diouf is all but done but it hinges on sundays results, he claims to have this on very good authority and in fairness is usually right about these things any truth?

ABBEY Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 no way DO I EVER EVER EVER WANT TO SEE THAT DIVING SPITTING CHEATING SCROTE TO EVER WEAR THE BLUE AND WHITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cant see us ever being interested in such a pondlife of an excuse for a human id rather us sign owen coyle than this ferkin scumbag
RibbleValleyRover Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 With Everton being linked to every midfielder it seems and numerous other clubs looking to strengthen in midfield it looks like we may have to rely on another Sparky bargain or an unknown player. Thats if one is to be found of course
