I would imagine that Laporta wants Guardiola as the fans will give him time to sort things out.

Ronaldinho is going, Eto's may follow and it looks like major upheaval in the summer. So it could be a tough time next season and Barca might need a favourite son in the dug-out to keep the fans onside.

Plus Barca have some great kids coming through, so a young coach looking after them gives it a good 'feel' - a bit like Wenger at Arsenal.

The article seems to be linking him to Espanyol; however, as this is a club MH never played for, it seems to go against his previously stated aim to manage clubs he played for.
