brian_gallagher85 Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Incidently, is the news fact or a rumour? Our South African Rovers mole will know. Good shout Dunn fc
RibbleValleyRover Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Believe we said the same when Bellamy left, then we got McCarthy and Santa Cruz which the latter was mostly slated before he kicked a ball for us. I firmly believe if Bentley goes we'd be able to get a decent enough replacment, when has Hughes or his scouts let us down???? I believe its far harder to find a decent right mid/winger than it is to find a striker. You may be right and i may be wrong, Hughes may have someone in mind if he is to replace Bents. I believe it will require someone who is unknown or not well known because i can't think of many right sided players/wingers right now who have the crossing ability of Bents and to buy a proven one would not be cheap. My apologies for being a bit heated in my previous post, but I have had a rotten day which was capped off by the sudden death of my pet which meant a great deal to me.
Dunnfc Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 My apologies for being a bit heated in my previous post, but I have had a rotten day which was capped off by the sudden death of my pet which meant a great deal to me. No need to apoligise RVR, your right to have your say its a messageboard with banter, sorry to hear about your pet.
RibbleValleyRover Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Nicko, i just wondering if there was any progress on the Huddlestone for Adam Johnson swap deal?
roversmum Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Makes a change. It's usually Pedersen who they are signing.
doctorryan Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 One Two Three Four Five ... Different sources confirming it was £17m. I don't care what any of those 5 sites say. Do I really have to replay that whole week from the first bid lodged the Thursday before to the final, clause-triggering bid lodged the Wednesday the club left for training camp at American University in Washington DC? Chelsea kept increasing the bid in increments, leaving it right to the end to meet the clause. John Williams was sitting with Souey in the departure lounge at the airport in Manchester, cell phone in hand, waiting to see if the bid to prevent Duff from getting on the plane would come in. Anybody else remember seeing photos of Duffer with sadness etched in his face as he left the airport? For the record I believe it was £13m on Thursday night, to £15m and then £16m over the weekend, to £17m on Monday, then £17m with performance/appearance clauses that would rise to 17.7 on Tuesday, then finally the necessary £17.7m about 45 minutes before departure. If either Alan or Lee remembers a different version of events I would appreciate being enlightened. I've not the fragile ego of some others. In the meantime you keep Googling shillito.
USABlue Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Not sure if Bentley staying would qualify as big new, not for the tabloids. Surely it would be more fun for them if a move was involved.
tony gale's mic Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Not sure if Bentley staying would qualify as big new, not for the tabloids. Surely it would be more fun for them if a move was involved. ..But then he said he might be buried away...
philipl Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Liverpool or Spuds putting in a firm offer would not be buried away- that's for sure. Bentley buys a house in Formby/Hertfordshire might be though....
Blueboy Downunder Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 this can only be something very positive beause if it weren't...theere is no way the club would allow this to come out if he was signing for somebody or the club had accepted a bid from elsewhere....especially before such an important game for us.
Craigman Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Maybe he has given Blackburn an ultimatum or something, he is willing to buy his contract out in a years time or something. Who knows. Hope it is good news about him staying though.
LeChuck Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 he is willing to buy his contract out in a years time or something. Who knows. I think I know this bit, he signed his last contract February 2007 so he wouldn't be allowed to buy out his contract until February 2010 according to UEFA rules. The only way we can be forced into selling is if he has a minimum release clause in there a la Duff, otherwise the only way he's leaving is if we receive an offer that is too good to turn down.
Baggio Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 There's an interesting article on the beeb about the fall of PSG from one of the biggest clubs in Europe to being on the verge of relegation from ligue 1. They have UEFA qualification from winning the french league cup and are in the final of the other domestic cup competition, but they could end up playing second division football next season. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/7388386.stm I wonder if there is any possible players worth looking at, especially taking into account the useage of relegation release clauses. Thats if they go down of course. They got a draw today and have pulled themselves out of the relegation zone with one game to go. Keegan was sat in the stands on the highlights, probably looking at Gomis from St Etienne.
tony gale's mic Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Well well...this will be a big day for Blackburn Rovers F.C....let's see how things are this time tomorrow.
Nate Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 They got a draw today and have pulled themselves out of the relegation zone with one game to go. Keegan was sat in the stands on the highlights, probably looking at Gomis from St Etienne. I hope PSG go down.
rovers1993 Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 has anyone read the people yet? i've seen no news yet but i think it's bentley wanting too much wage on his contract.
Blueboy Downunder Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/tm_...-name_page.html good on rovers, for not taking anymore bull crap...bent's don't disrespect the club and it's fans...if you don't want to sign, then (Please don't use that word again)off and stop being a complete ######!! P.S.....THANKS NICKO
rovers1993 Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 that is the right thing to do. no one is bigger than rovers and i think that the club should not be held hansom. good on you sparky and the rest of the rovers staff for teaching bents a lesson.
AggyBlue Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 So what do we do this afternoon? Cheer him and show that we want him to stay or Boo him, call him a greedy basket and force his hand into leaving
Iceman Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Just brillian.wel done Hughes and JW.maybe Lee wil let us know more on this.
