USRoverME Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 He is money minded, moves on every few seasons for a new pay packet with signing on bonuses! No thanks! So basically, you'd rather us not sign professional footballers...
nicko Posted January 29, 2008 Author Posted January 29, 2008 Derby have rejected an offer from Newcastle for Giles Barnes. You mean this offer? http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/200...89520-20302469/
joey_big_nose Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Totally agree - he also rarely ever gives up - no matter the score. Though I think I'd prefer Emerton. I am beginning to wonder if Rovers are after anybody during this transfer window, apart from Flynn. If there is a take over in the pipeline, Hughes will not want to sign anybody on a long term contract. After all if Hughes has money to spend he'd want a better player than the ones available to him now. Concentrate on a top 6 finish and push next season for a higher place with new additions in the summer. Doesn't workj like that I think. He has a chance to make an impression this season, has a very good squad with a couple of weaknesses. If we get in two quality players like Maldonado and Dembele we suddenly look very strong, particularly if Nelsen comes back as his old self in a few weeks. Deciding to let the season peter out is a recipe for disaster.
nicko Posted January 29, 2008 Author Posted January 29, 2008 This is Macedonian Steven Gerrard's next club... http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8...3088130,00.html

nicko Posted January 29, 2008 Author Posted January 29, 2008 Why the hell did he go there? Because they made a decision and offered the money...quite relieved to see it come out he had been at Blackburn...thought I was being wound up there for a while.
modes98 Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Anyone know how to check odds for the job on Coral? e-mail or ring them. Most haven't got the market on their websites for some reason.
LeftWinger Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 I'm assuming most haven't got markets on their sites because something is happening with McAllister. I just went on ladbrokes website - and they're doing in running betting on Kazakhstan VS Russia. Is it really 13-1 in the second half? Ha Ha - it's not football is it! What is bandy? lol
modes98 Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 I'm assuming most haven't got markets on their sites because something is happening with McAllister. That maybe the case. I don't see their rush to be honest, think some places are jumping to conclusions because Bassett lasted 1 day lol
Ewood and I Would Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 I bet Sparky is thanking his lucky stars right now. WHACK!
revolutionrock! Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Well if the Macedonian came to ewood, he must not have been thought of well by the staff
they_think_its_all_rover Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 McAllister - Done Deal? I posted that on the last page... Skysports have it as well
modes98 Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Betfair will not be doing a market on the leeds job. I have been in contact with our market opts team, unfortunately we aren't going to be doing a market for the next Leeds United manager. We mainly provide markets for the next premiership managers. We feel that this won't generate enough liquidity in this market.
Ewood and I Would Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 "We feel that this won't generate enough liquidity in this market." Why don't businesses just call a spade a spade and say it aint worth getting out of bed for, 'not enough liquidity' what is that about?
budha Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Blackburn Rovers chairman John Williams insists manager Mark Hughes is not looking to add another defender to his squad before Thursday's transfer deadline. "We've got enough good players there and I don't think we will be looking for people in that area. "We would not be buying anyone just to act as cover." http://www.blackburncitizen.co.uk/sport/sp...gn_defender.php
modes98 Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 I posted that on the last page... Skysports have it as well Looks like it's all based upon McAllisters short odds and Bassett leaving. Nicko, thoughts? "We feel that this won't generate enough liquidity in this market." Why don't businesses just call a spade a spade and say it aint worth getting out of bed for, 'not enough liquidity' what is that about? I would think they have certain admin costs with every market they start. However had they started it once Wise left i would think they would have taken a lot of cash. Especially with all the bookies dropping out and starting up late. "We would not be buying anyone just to act as cover." The oldham guy wouldn't be cover, he would be one for the future with our hand being forced now to stop him going to someone else and costing a lot more in a few months time.
nicko Posted January 29, 2008 Author Posted January 29, 2008 Looks like it's all based upon McAllisters short odds and Bassett leaving. Nicko, thoughts? I might end up looking like a plant-pot here, but... Gary Mc has not even met Leeds. Ken Bates is talking to the representatives of four managers. He is meeting them in Monaco later this week. If Sky and all the daft bookies in the world want to say Macca has got the job, then let them... I said earlier and I'll stick to it now. There is a short-list, they will interview.

I understand the business reasons for the decision, I was merely reflecting on the lofty choice of words...
Dunnfc Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Im going for Roberto Martinez with Paul Ince a close second. Il stick a fiver on both.
they_think_its_all_rover Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Do you know who the other 3 are?
modes98 Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 I understand the business reasons for the decision, I was merely reflecting on the lofty choice of words... I know. It's a polite way of telling you to shove it! Im going for Roberto Martinez with Paul Ince a close second. Il stick a fiver on both. Have you found anywhere with an open market currently? Since about 1 the markets have closed up.
jrabrfc Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Gary Mac has got the Leeds job according to the BBC
