Just for the interested regarding Ken Bates.

Old Grey Beard owns substantial property in Wheelton, Higher Wheelton, Brindle and Hoghton. In particular he owns some serious land in nearby Whittle that is now subject to planning applications after his 20yr wait for the relavant time periods to pass. I dont think it too bad if he were to be an interested party in buying BRFC.

What does he get ? He doesnt get a club that is 75m in debt, has no training ground, is not subject to administration, has massive potential, is well run both on and off the pitch.

Lets look at his successes. He bought CFC for a paltry 1 pound and sold it for 36m personal profit.

He took LUFC by the scruff of the neck, rung out the deadwood, ridded the club of substantial debts (I accept it took an enormous big set of balls to do what he did) and look at it now.

Bates does know how to run a football club and a business.

I met him back in 1981 when he moved from Blackburn Road, Wheelton. I was his paperboy and he gave me a nice xmas tip of 20 quid which was a lot better than the usual quid. So in the media eyes he may be a nasty little man but underneath there is a man with a vast working knowlege of what is required to run a proper football club.

To counteract that 1864 I know quite a few stories about Ken Bates from someone who was quite high up in the redevlopment of the Stamford Bridge complex. He says Bates as a person was tight as a ducks crack.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I've just about had it today. Burnley this, Burnley that Burnley Burnley Burnley - I don't give a darn about Burnley Blackburn Rovers is my club. Then we start on Leeds whom I hate almost as much as Burnley and just as I thought it couldn't get any worse... the above is posted

GGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

:D "We all hate Leeds scum! we all hate Leeds scum! We all hate Leeds scum! We all hate Leeds scum!" - Love that song

IF Ken Bates ever came in with a bid for Rovers, I doubt the club would be stupid enough to even consider it... the man has his own interests at heart.

I heard on radio lancs that we are in negotiations with santos to sign Claudio Maldonado.

Do you think we have a decent chance of signing him nicko ? I'm guessing there will be work permit issues etc..

Gutted about the lack of signings thus far. However, i also feel we are missing a major point in asking Nicko if he knows of any bids for our current players, any players already having talks with teams.........the last 24 hours of the transfer window is always fun to watch (so looking forward to that and hopefully some good news when it finally ends)

It's worrying about the lack of signings.

Burnley will do what they always do and keep the money they receive from selling players and not use it.

Looks like young Lafferty is off too - is he that good?

I don't think Burnley will sign anyone else. I reckon a cheeky punt for Koumas on last day for us.

Come on nicko, tell me we'll beat Burnley in signings.

Here's some news for you Rob: Read a few pages back before asking. Or other relevant topics on here.. ;)

Nevermind that, it's about time to put all transfer related threads aside now anyway. Window closes in two days. No new signings on the horizon. However barring a minor miracle in Ghana the Axe will be on a plane home by then. All ready for the Everton game on saturday. Will be just like a new signing ... In fact watch him roll into town and inspire us to a stunning victory - still in the mindset of motivational leader after bearing the captains armband for a couple of weeks while on intn'l duty.

Nicko, at least have the decency to make something up for us to get excited over.. :P

I predict, based on nothing but gut feeling really.

Koumas

Midfield loan

And, despite JW denying it, a defender. Young(ish), relatively unknown.

If Roberts does go then I expect a loan to cover there. Very vague predictions, and I've got a very comfortable fence to sit on.

And as we all know Rovers under JW/MH are no strangers to pulling off late deals, so I'm at least sure we will see someone.

I do actually. Have a feeling there could be a loan signing on the last day. If not, well then I can't say there's many other players that have moved in this window that I would have liked to see at Rovers. Certainly not for the money they have moved for. Diarra is one I would have liked. Fernandes on loan is another. Other than that - none.

Have faith tchocky, we'll pull something out of the bag. Sparky knows what he's doing.
