T4E Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 If Burnley get £4 million it is too good to refuse. Allegedly. It wasn't long ago they were hawking him around for £6m. Will Coyle want anyone in part exchange?

Macky Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I have faith in Sparky....I reckon he'll get koumas last minute. Can't get over the fact that laugh-erty is valued at such a high price! He's average at best! Nicko, heard anything about Joe Garner and Norwich/Burnley?
Eddie Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I'd rather we sign no one than Koumas last-minute. If the original price was 5 million then we can't seriously hope to pay less than 2.5, realistically even if we did well we'd still be looking at 3-4, which is far too much for an average premiership player (which in my opinion is being a bit generous). If that's all we can come up with, then save the money and just write this season off.
BRFCGrez Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I still think we will out do Burnley in the window. Burnley won't get anybody else I don't think. How much are Rangers offering for Lafferty? Do you think we will push through the Trotman deal?
nicko Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 Nicko, heard anything about Joe Garner and Norwich/Burnley? It's been mentioned a few times with Norwich and could happen later as the Championship window stays open. Burnley have not shown any interest at all. Carlisle would be crazy to sell.

Wigan are trying to squeeze him out and yet he comes off the bench and still looks useful in short bursts. I think that a bid will get him, but where do they get a replacement? He is not my idea of a player either, but where are the good ones?
nicko Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 I still think we will out do Burnley in the window. Burnley won't get anybody else I don't think. THERE WILL BE ONE, POSSIBLY TWO AND MAYBE THREE BEFORE THE END OF THE MONTH AND A COUPLE AFTER. How much are Rangers offering for Lafferty? DROPPING HINTS OF BIDS...WILL HAVE TO BE £4 MILLION Do you think we will push through the Trotman deal? THE PRICE IS AGREED WITH PRESTON, SO IT'S OVER TO ROVERS. I THINK IT WOULD BE WORTH A PUNT.

Burnley have not shown any interest at all. Carlisle would be crazy to sell. I heard from a pretty decent source they bid 1million, like you say Carlisle would be crazy not to sell. Am I right in thinking rovers have a 50% sell on fee?
Eddie Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Maybe there aren't any, but then I dont' see a point in buying a player for the sake of it. We do need bodies, but spending a relatively large amount of money on a player to be a body is a waste.
BRFCGrez Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 The 'amazing' argie - is he still off down there? What about Whelan and Robson because extra interest has been shown in them this month. That's why I tihnk they'll miss out. £4m for 'Laughtery' is ridiculous money. Should be an interesting two days - agree with above posters that we'll get Koumas on the last day.
nicko Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 The 'amazing' argie - is he still off down there? HOPE SO...BURSTING BLOOD VESSELS ON THIS ONE. What about Whelan and Robson because extra interest has been shown in them this month. FOREST HAVE BID FOR ROBSON, THINK CELTIC WILL COME IN AT THE DEATH. That's why I tihnk they'll miss out. £4m for 'Laughtery' is ridiculous money. YES. Should be an interesting two days - agree with above posters that we'll get Koumas on the last day.
nicko Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 This is totally above and beyond the call of duty... Oldham have had ANOTHER bid for Trotman tonight. The Preston offer is valued at £600,000 because Jason Jarrett is going the other way, but a mystery club [not Rovers] has topped it... Don't know who. Knackered. Kip.
dj54nna Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 If that's all we can come up with, then save the money and just write this season off. Again.
BRFCGrez Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 1, possibly 2, maybe 3. They're going backwards. It was Cole and the Argie plus three or four more the other day. They'll end up with nothing. I read somewhere Hull re-ignited their interest in Trotman.

Presty On Tour Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 what a depressing transfer window. we lose one first team player and dont bring any in. don't worry, i've read that totti will be a blackburn player before the window deadline
USABlue Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Have you actually thought that Nicko may have been at a game tonight? I did not realise the McDingles were playin tonight. Good result for nobbers, looks like WBA have hit a sour patch right before the dingles. 'Kin we'll be hearing all about that if it happens. You were at the nobbers game then nicko. You scouting for Coyley McDingle now? Starting to look like we won't be doing much, weeing with the willy we have is it.
Presty On Tour Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Don't know if this has been posted anywhere else but jason brown has signed a contract extension till 2011. clicky clicky
G Somerset Rover Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I see in today's LET that Williams has said that it's very unlikely that ANYONE will be coming in before the window shuts tomorrow. So that's one first team regular out and nobody in. Great stuff from a team aiming for a top 6 finish if true.
nicko Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 There is a new club in for Trotman, Premier League too...well, at the moment anyway. Which is a pretty big clue. Trotman met Preston yesterday, the other club came in about midnight last night and Rovers are sitting on their hands. Draw your own conclusions. As for the McDingles, hoping for one more today and possibly two by tomorrow. There are other loan options after the 'window' shuts. Mind you one addition to the senior squad is better than none...
joey_big_nose Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I see in today's LET that Williams has said that it's very unlikely that ANYONE will be coming in before the window shuts tomorrow. So that's one first team regular out and nobody in. Great stuff from a team aiming for a top 6 finish if true. Thats a really poor show if its true. We do have a very good squad, that hasn't changed, but if we could have signed the high quailty DM then we would be in even better shape. A decent left winger too and we are laughing. I can understand the logic of not going for anyone just for the sake of it, but we could do with a couple of players, even squad players. Looking forward to the "last dance at the disco". What are sparky's previous hits on that front? Bentley was on the deadline, as was Dunn. Warnock? We do usually get in there right at the death.
Ewood and I Would Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Well it's all very depressing isn't it? Looks like no one's coming in now so it's down to what we've already got. A few people keep saying things like "Williams and Hughes have a history of last minute deals etc" but I'm sorry but they haven't. The last time a player was signed on the last day (or even last 48hrs) of a window was Martin Olsson way back in January 2006 (Bentley also signed that day but had already been playing on loan; Nonda was brought in on the last day of the August 2006 window but that was a loan). Rovers have virtually no history of big last minute deals but I guess I better be optimistic anyway
Dunnfc Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Nicko vs Rover6 http://www.brfcs.co.uk/mb/index.php?showto...mp;#entry582538 That thread is just laughable.

Trotman met Preston yesterday, the other club came in about midnight last night and Rovers are sitting on their hands. Draw your own conclusions. We have no cash to spend on 'hopefuls' most probably. Then again I really am unsure as to who the board think they can pick up for around £1 million that will give our season that extra kick in the right direction. To keep thinking that Hughes will pull a Samba or Nelsen out of the bag is extremely ambitious. I reckon the best we can hope for tomorrow is a Kuqi-esque sale for an extortionate amount. Then again we can't really afford to let many more players leave the club unless it's maybe Rigters or Gally.
