krislu Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Finding one of them is as hard as finding a good player in a January transfer window... For what it's worth, I'll reckon its 10 times harder to find a good long term investor than a good player.

revolutionrock! Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Played once for Wanky wonderer's, sounds good. NOT EDit, sorry. Hes been injured.
1864roverite Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Can the mods not put a countdown clock on the front page, just for a bit of fun only 35hrs and a bit to go
nicko Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 They'd need to pay about £5m for the Argie and it's lagging anyway that deal. If you knew what was needed to bring a top young Argie from a club in Turkey you would realise that it isn't 'lagging' - it's just taking a phenomenal amount of work. Nothing good ever came easy.
Ewood and I Would Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 As a general rule I always judge a situation based on what people do and not what they say. So from my perspective all the positive and ambitious words coming out of the club, pretty much counts for nothing. Their action on the other hand, or lack of action, reveal a real lack of ambition and the ability to improve the team. Being a rovers supporter this make me worried about the future of our club, and it's becoming more and more clear that we are in desperate need for some new owners willing to take the club to the next level. I agree and I think this whole takeover thing has screwed us over. The trustees have been trying to sell the club for ages now and understandably don’t want to pump money in unless they’d get it straight back when we’re bought. That’s fair enough, if I was selling my car tomorrow I’d only put enough petrol in to last me for today. Despite the Asian Yorkshiremen interest, Dan Williams has pretty much said what I feared all along in that we are just not attractive enough for an investor. That’s not the football clubs fault, it’s more down to demographics and the fact Blackburn is severely underdeveloped compared to other Premiership clubs. Even Derby, who will a Championship team next season, have been taken over! So you can only imagine how bad a financial prospect we must be as a steady Premiership club. Unfortunately, the club’s future lies out of its hands. I don’t live in Blackburn, but I feel the town and transport systems need to be vastly improved if we stand any chance of filling our ground.
nicko Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 i know its only tribal but.. http://www.tribalfootball.com/article.php?id=76510- a swiss guy we are interested in according to this.. That has got to be one of the most unlikely moves ever. The Swiss lad got a bad knee injury a year ago after signing a pre-contract with Bolton. He is good but has yet to fully recover.
BRFCGrez Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Fair enough nicko, but they ain't got long left. Is that the one McDingles are expecting today? "Small dot" - doesn't sound promising.
Mozzer Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 nicko..in todays LET, john williams says "There's a long-term midfield target we are still pursuing. We tried to get him out in January but his club were unwilling to sell, so we'll have to wait until the summer on that one now....you have any idea who this midfield target is???
krislu Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Summer will give Hughes more time to consider his squad and who knows? He will be given more time to consider alright.....if he is going to stay or not.

Uddersfelt Blue Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Fairly comfortable with the squad. The loss of Savage has more than been made up for by the return of Reid. Why spend money on players who won't necessarily be any better than the one's we have? OK it would have been nice to see a new face or two but with the type of deals we could have done and players available it still wouldn't guarantee a Top 4 finish.
revolutionrock! Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Why spend money on players who won't necessarily be any better than the one's we have? Then you make sure they would be better.
nicko Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 Is that the one McDingles are expecting today? The minute the Argie is cleared for take-off you will be among the first to know...
Ronin Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Apparently we're interested, or have been, with a Korean player http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=566525
revolutionrock! Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 The minute the Argie is cleared for take-off you will be among the first to know... God, you do get excited about him. Still not over us saying no one will be brought in. We need a midfielder badly.
modes98 Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Fairly comfortable with the squad. The loss of Savage has more than been made up for by the return of Reid. The problem was we looked 1 CM short with Savage and without Reid. So we are still 1 short, mind you i don't class Mokoena as a CM, i class him as a liability. A loan on a CM would see us through to the summer when we can get our main target, who you would assume is Huddlestone as there have been mumblings around here for a while on that one.
Ewood and I Would Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Great post there Uddersfelt. I don't understand why people are hitting the panic button since the virtually non-existent Savage (post-injury) left. I've put this in another thread but when was the last effective game he had for us? I think the John Williams quote about not letting anyone go without a replacement is what's got a few people narked. "No player will be sold unless we can find an adequate replacement, under no circumstances will we allow the squad to be weakened". John Williams It could be argued that the squad has been weakened, although I'm guess you're saying it hasn't from your post. However ineffective you rated Savage, he was better than Mokoena IMO and thus the squad has been weakened in that regard.

Having Reid back is like having a new player so Sav going is no biggy
Hughesy Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 If rovers are telling the truth and No moves are planned before the end of the window then its disappointing! 1 good signing could be the difference between UEFA cup football or a 10th place finish! Although to be fair at the moment the Market prices are crazy and we could get much more for our cash in the summer. Id still however maybe like to see a loan signing to provide us with abit more cover. Just hope Williams & Hughes are playing the usual mind games. Id like to see Koumas come in, and I think after seeing his last 2 performances, in terms of creativity and delivery of the ball he could be a really good player for us. IF rovers are telling the truth then why let the LET run rumours all January and get the fans intrigued? Just come out on the 1st of Jan and say, we won't be signing anyone (like West Ham did), otherwise it just annoys your own supporters! Nicko – Any news on Gallagher or Rigters? Are either likely to leave, either on loan or permanent? P.S. Savage is no loss!
Brfcrule1 Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Hi Nicko, so can I take it from the previous comments that the takeover will not go through anytime soon? any info would be great. Laters all.
Eddie Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Whether or not you think Savage was a good player, as I personally did, you can't argue with the fact that losing a central midfielder, where we already weren't blessed with a range of options, and then not replacing him is at least weakening the squad, if not the starting line-up. A fully-fit Savage would have been alongside a full-fit Reid for me in terms of our best possible pairing, so as far as I'm concerned we've downgraded our midfield for 1.5 million. There's no way we should have sold Savage unless we had a replacement practically signing his contract at that very moment.
Hasta Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Hi Nicko, so can I take it from the previous comments that the takeover will not go through anytime soon? any info would be great. Laters all. I think he's answered that question about 10 times this week.
robborover Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 mind you i don't class Mokoena as a CM, i class him as a liability. Have you been watching the Apprentice again Modes? You're sounding a bit like Sir Alan Sugar. IMO out of the players that have moved this window most have been either too expensive or not good enough to make our first 11. We'll be ok.
