I think I've found it out - or something very similar.

The guy in question has been injured but claims to be in talks with Rovers about joining...but it wouldn't be until [a] he proves his fitness, he is a completely free agent and [c] he won't be coming before the end of the season.

I'm going to do the story on Sunday, it's not earth-shattering but it's interesting.

If it is not properly used I will fill in the gaps...

There could be another player in identical circumstances but I think it is this guy.

Appiah pretty please.

And wasnt it Jack's aim, that at some stage Rovers would be self financing.

That was in the 90s. I seem to remember him later on admitting that due to the huge changes in wealth needed to sustain a top-flight club that Rovers would be uinlikely to ever be totally self-sustaining. At least not in the Premiership...

Hi Nicko, nice thread you have here!

What would you rate each of theese players in £ in a regular transfermarket ?

Warnock, Samba, Nelsen, Oojer, Zurab, Pedersen, Dunn, Reid, Bentley, Roberts, Santa Cruz, McCarthy ?

What player outside our first 11 do you consider to have the biggest potential ?

Dont expect you to answer, but I be thankful if I got your idea :)

cheers ;)

Solberto, why don't you tell us what you think they are worth?

More often than not the "papers" get transfers horribly wrong in terms of destination and cost!

Have a bit of self-belief! Don't listen to the succubus - tis a false delight!

I have NO interest whatsoever in finding out their "real" value thank you. The short answer is at the end of their contracts or when injured, nothing.

The Times are suggesting there were complications over agents and wages behind City's exit from the Benjani deal.

What player outside our first 11 do you consider to have the biggest potential ? I DON'T THINK THERE IS ONE RESERVE PLAYER WHO COULD FIT INTO THE CURRENT FIRST TEAM SQUAD.

Dont expect you to answer, but I be thankful if I got your idea :) ANY TIME.

Nicko, any team news ahead of the big game tomorrow?

Who do you fancy?

Sorry, missed the wuestion with all the Benjani hilarity.

Losing Samba is a loss and along with Nelsen's absence that makes you vulnerable.

Saw Everton in midweek and they were ordinary.

But they might just have an edge in this one...I wouldn't put a bet on, mind. Would like to be wrong.

Nicko,Talksport are saying that we turned down bids/Enquiry for 5 of our players.....do you know the players in question?

This 'we didn't sell, wasn't that a triumph' stuff does not win points or prizes. I don't like getting involved in it, but...I would imagine they mean.

ROBERTS - deffo....over-priced at £4 million.

ROQUE - deffo...Man City went in...time-wasters.

RIGTERS - deffo...why hasn't he gone?

WARNOCK - ha, ha...never told you that one.

BENTLEY - I believe...but I won't give free publicity to the club who have the biggest interest.

COME ON ARSENAL!!! Half-time full-time joy.

Apparently Rovers accepted a £1m bid from PNE for Gallagher.

They couldn't agree personal terms.

(This true Nicko?)

I can't believe thee fee for a start.

Preston can sign players on loan with a view to buy in a week, so let's see if it is propaganda or fact.

Those accounts make interesting reading, by the way...

Arminia Bielefeld were interested but apparently they couldn't offload the player they needed to to make space for Rigters. Also, with Gallagher going, Hughes would probably have been reluctant to let another go.

Gally's at Stoke now so we will have to wait until the summer.

Which game are you covering today?

Cheers Nicko.

I'm not one for the "we dint sell arnt we great" way of thinking.

Just wanted know who they were talking about is all.

Again ta.

Wasn't aiming that at you...

The accounts are pumping that party line.

And that is in the chairman's statement, signed late November 2007...BEFORE the club didn't buy anyone in January.

I wonder if the early FA Cup exit may have cost the club a possible signing in those circumstances?
