The Argie "superstar" doesn't want to lose his rented digs in Turkey to make it in the big time at the "mighty" clarets?!?

Well, that says a lot doesn't it. Fair play to the unheard of world beater though, £15K a week isn't to be sniffed at for a player of his ability. Best to stick it out in Galas reserves I say.

Just as the gap was closing as well.

The boy was being duped - by the Turks - into signing away a contract worth £15,000-a-week for the next three-and-a-half years. That's £2.5 million or thereabouts.

This was only discovered when Galatasaray gave him a form to sign to allow the loan to happen. He also feared that at the end of the loan he would find himself without a club house.

Now, if you were asked to give up that kind of money and have nowhere to live I think you would agree it is something of a problem.

Still, better for Burnley to have tried and lost...than not have tried at all.

If you know what I mean.

The City/Pompey debacle has had me amused for the past few days and also, (hopefully the deal falls on it's arse) Rovers in a very good position over two of their biggest rivals come the summer.

Pompey, by all accounts will now be a lot lot weaker in the next window and City still have a massive whole up front. Now all we need if to finish above 'em both and hopefully that means Europe B)

I expect Benjani will move this week (after all the Prem fixed it for Man U and West Ham over Tevez) but amusing to read that Ramos has said he was against selling Defoe and it has emerged he moved on a loan pending completion of the sale transaction this week.

Perhaps Spuds will end up holding the baby!

Portsmouth are quite happy to let it be known because it shows how transfers work when there are tight deadlines.

It is also a way of letting Man City know that Spurs will an honour an agreement...and so should they.

There's been nothing like this...

theres no chance they will come up,

There is a very real chance, despite being battered on the run of play again, citing Ipswich, they did not concede but 2 goals. So they seem tight at the back, they have been a tad fortunate in some of their cracking results so if fortune continues to shine, the dogs keep eating the dogs they have a real shot.

Best scenario in my mind would be Dingles just miss out(in a painful manner of course) then do very well next year, mid season a big club comes calling and Coyles off. nicko's happy, someone like Coyle, who seems a genuine footy bloke and a good bloke, is happy and we can have nicko's dingle diatribe return to nil.

I wonder if their promise of free Premiership season tickets will come into play? "Accidentally" just miss out to avoid the freebies, knowing that sales would be up the following season. Yet another stunning conspiracy theory from the man in America Heh Heh

An opinion from a Southampton lad - You make it sound like a bad thing :) Blummin' skates deserve all they get! ;)

An opinion from a football fan - Could this mean the transfer window being re-vamped or scrapped all together?

Since the transfer window moved to the English game I've wondered if it's compatible with EU employment law.

I'd love to see it scrapped as it gives a clear advantage to the wealthier clubs - those that can afford to maintain large squads.

I've been banging on about the transfer window for years now. It's totally needless and as demonstrated this January, only serves to inflate prices and benefit the wealthy clubs. As for the smaller clubs who might need to do a bit of business on the cheap, in order to give themselves a chance of staying up, - tough luck.

That wasn't the idea behind it though, I think it was intended to do the opposite.

I'm sure the intention was that richer clubs couldn't just go out a buy a new player if they suffered injuries/lack of form, they'd have to use players already within the squad. Unfortunately this has just meant the richer clubs stockpile players for these situations, so in effect it has probably made things worse.

I don't really think it matters what the rules of transfers are though, the richer clubs are always going to have a massive advantage.
