Fat boy Benitez to make £7million bid for Santa Cruz in the summer?

http://www.fansfc.com/frontpage/frontpagen...p?newsid=180549

...Any truth in that Nicko? £7million wil get him NOWHERE... especially when King cost £5million! ...WHY do Rovers players always get soo under valued?

The Paraguayan international has been in superb form for Blackburn Rovers since signing from Bayern Munich in the summer for a bargain £3.8million, yet he admits he wants to be involved in European football.

Come on, you can figure that one out for your self. The quote is out of context, he was talking about his (and Rovers) away form. Rubbish.

Too silly to even give serious thought to...

Benitez fighting for his job, Liverpool might miss out on the Champions League, would Roque go with Torres?

Just a shot in the dark.

Never heard that before - very interesting - thanks.

Edit: Does the "fairplay" place still apply regardless of position?.

Yes, as far as I understand it the team that finishes highest in te fair play leagye get pitted against two more from other European leagues. A draw is then taken place and only 1 of those clubs gets the UEFA spot. So by getting the fair play award you've only got a 1 in 3 chance of it being worth anything, just ask Villa.

I'm not interested in Rovers finishing 8th. I am interested in them finishing in the top six. On current form I fear that is unlikely.

That'll be this current form then?

Doesn't look too bad to me.

I was just wondering how that table would look based on the last eight league games? And of course the table given fully vindicates all those who have been shouting about how rubbish Rovers are currently and how Hughes knows nowt etc etc.

It would look like this.

Still not bad, more than holding our own and onlt one defeat in the last 8.

That form table is suprising considering the negativity that is around at the moment. However the run of fixtures we have undertaken recently has not been that difficult.

The table shows our last 6 games have brought us 12 points.

Our last 15 games have brought us 18 points. This is 1.2 points per game.

Over a course of the season that would generate us 45.6 points.

Had we been scoring at this rate all season we would currently have 30 points and be 10th above Tottenham and Newcastle.

Totally pointless stats but I'm bored. :rover:

As has been pointed out abouve the bare stats, only tell half a tale. we might have three wins and three draws out of the last six but that has to be tempered by the fact the three wins came against Derby Sunderland and Bolton. And the Sunderland victory was very fortunate.

The eighteen points from the last fifteen games is perhaps a more reliable indicator of where we're headed but nevertheless it's better to play poorly and still pick up points than play brilliantly and lose.

We've played some very poor sides in the past handful of games though, which is mostly where we've picked up our points.

Last 8 takes in Chelsea, Man City, Villa and Everton- all rubbish agreed.

Expectation after our own good start has gone daft, 5pts off 4th with 13 games to go! You would of took that at the beginning of the season! Especially when those around us have spent £15 - 20 million + each.

Agreed Hughsey. Although we need to start winning at home and quickly, it must be taken in to account that, despite not playing well, we haven't lost much ground on anyone else and are still very much in the hunt for Europe.

I was told that the Intertoto had been scrapped. Is there any truth in this?

It all depends on how we finish Hughesey, if the season just sort of fizzles out and we limp in tenth then that's more or less where I thought we'd finish before the season started.

With the benefit of hindsight now though I'd still maintain it was disappointing after twenty one points from the first ten games. You shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth and all that.

This summer will be the last one.

I think everyone agrees we are in a very good league position.

However my question on the Everton thread about the last home game in which we were definitely the better side over 90 minutes is the worrying factor. We won't keep playing poorly and picking up results. We will need to improve home performances otherwise games like Everton, Boro and Sunderland will start to become defeats, and maybe heavy ones.

Away form has been, and remains, very good aside from the Wigan debacle.
