Rainmaker Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 And on a lighter note... You don't have to speak Norwegian to find this funny, especially Woy's weaction... http://www.vg.no/pub/vgart.hbs?artid=516047 For those of you that don't read Norwegian. Here is a short summary of the situation: Bullard tackles Baird. Baird feels it was a rought tackle, and gets angry. Bullard just laughs it of. Baird gets even angier and punches Bullard
Lurid Coat Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 Upon which Woy says to Erik Nevland: "Welcome to f****** England!"
USRoverME Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 Nicko, Reid pulling out of the Ireland side... just another "international" injury, right? Always worry when I see his name and injury side by side.
bluebruce Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 Nicko, Reid pulling out of the Ireland side... just another "international" injury, right? Always worry when I see his name and injury side by side. As worried as I was when I saw something like this scrolling across the bottom of the screen on skysports news today, after seeing 'injured for six weeks' scrolling at the tail end of another one?: 'England winger David...' Fortunately, it was just a rugby winger who had the injury!
RoversFanUSA Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 As the Sunday People is somewhat chaotic this morning - production problems they tell me - the Rovers transfer tale is not in my edition and may not be in others. So, as promised. Nelson Cuevas - Paraguayan striker and pal of Roque's - is close to signing a pre-contract with Rovers for NEXT season. Cuevas, who was an international regular, has been out of football for a few months with an injury and trained with Portsmouth and Nuremburg recently. I believe he was to come to Blackburn on a similar basis, but the plan changed and he is now back home and playing on a six-month contract with a club called Gumarelo. I checked last week and Cuevas is telling people - including other clubs - that he is coming to Blackburn once he proves he is fit. I believe this is the guy I heard was 'in the pipeline' - although there could be another but I don't know. Cuevas was a sharp and lively striker, but a bit lightweight. However I can see the point in signing him if he is fit. He's a free, he would keep Roque happy. So watch this space. The Burnley-Argie 'on-off' transfer tale is in...but you will have to dig that one out yourselves. I spoke to some of my friends who are huge club america fans about this Cuevas fellow and they spoke very highly of him so good news for us as long as he can get healthy. My question is, wheres that gonna leave derbs and benni mac?
Blueboy Downunder Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 i would suspect that it will leave sir matt and benni mac still at rovers, because it will be jason roberts that will be leaving.

My question is, wheres that gonna leave derbs and benni mac? Cheers for that...let me know how he does when the Paraguayan season starts. I think the move will come down to whether he is fit or not. Ta.

Baird feels it was a rought tackle, and gets angry. Bullard just laughs it of. Baird gets even angier and punches Bullard ..........it was Nevland's first training session following his transfer to Fulham from Groningen. After the players had been pulled apart (and as Lurid Coat points out) Woy then says to Nevland, 'welcome to ****ing England!'
RoversSG Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Hey Nicko, What happened to that South Korean kid who was on trial? Last i heard was that we were going to sign him then loan him out. Thanks, this thread grew too quickly during the transfer window for me to read every single page.
nicko Posted February 6, 2008 Author Posted February 6, 2008 Hey Nicko, What happened to that South Korean kid who was on trial? Last i heard was that we were going to sign him then loan him out. Thanks, this thread grew too quickly during the transfer window for me to read every single page. I hear he did pretty well but is waiting on an answer about what happens next. Rovers would have to find a 'friendly' club to put him to until he qualifies for a work permit. It is a bit unfair for British teams when they go for young non-EC players. The Ghana kid Anthony Annan, who Chelsea are watching at the African Cup of Nations, was over when he was younger but they could not sign him for those reasons...however he is eligible to play in Norway and is about to move on. Seems wrong to me.
modes98 Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Rovers would have to find a 'friendly' club to put him to until he qualifies for a work permit. We have a working relationship with Cercle Brugge so i would assume he could be loaned or purchased by them for us.
nicko Posted February 6, 2008 Author Posted February 6, 2008 We have a working relationship with Cercle Brugge so i would assume he could be loaned or purchased by them for us. It would seem the best plan, but the whole thing seems a bit biased against British sides...and how come Arsenal can get such foreign talent with or without work permits?
modes98 Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 and how come Arsenal can get such foreign talent with or without work permits? I'm sure they have some kind of work around. You hear of Man Utd sending players off to their feeder team but i think Wenger realises he wants them early and gets them into Europe somehow. It does seem very biased against British teams but i don't think it's likely to change.

nicko Posted February 6, 2008 Author Posted February 6, 2008 England team... James - Brown, Ferdinand, Upson, A.Cole - BENTLEY, Jenas, Barry, Gerrard, J.Cole - Rooney.
Ben-2000 Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 England team... James - Brown, Ferdinand, Upson, A.Cole - BENTLEY, Jenas, Barry, Gerrard, J.Cole - Rooney. Well done Bents. Might even watch the game now!
Presty On Tour Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 quick trivia question, who was the last blackburn player to start for england?
LeChuck Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Hmm without thinking I would have said Shearer, but that must be too obvious. Tim Flowers?
Cocker Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 quick trivia question, who was the last blackburn player to start for england? Erm, Flowers? (Le Chuck beats me to it)
Dunnfc Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Jansen the last ever to be called up. Last capped Flowers/Batty.
Presty On Tour Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 i think it was flowers, in the Tournoi de France against Italy? almost 10 years ago! the only other player i can think of is david thompson but i don't think he made a start with england.
