donnermeat Posted September 22, 2018 Posted September 22, 2018 I'd steer clear of the Butlers for a little while, it's most recent food hygiene rating was 1. Quote

Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted September 22, 2018 Moderation Lead Posted September 22, 2018 The Freemasons at Wiswell seems to be winning a lot of awards. Everyone that I know that’s been speaks highly of it as well. Quote
only2garners Posted September 22, 2018 Posted September 22, 2018 The Freemasons is excellent, as is the White Swan at Fence and the Red Pump at Bashall Eaves is good too. The Parkers Arms at Newton has a great reputation, although I've not been. In Preston Fino has recently opened and is an outstanding tapas place. 1 Quote

only2garners Posted September 22, 2018 Posted September 22, 2018 That was my thought too, although there's also one at Dunham and I presume at least one more.... Quote
JC4LAB Posted September 22, 2018 Posted September 22, 2018 Glad to see this thread back...Out with the Ramblers at Hoghton Bottoms a ccuple of weeks ago...Parked near a Restaurant called the Royal Oak at Riley Green.Anyone know it.?.Hoghton Arms nearby is prob more famous but is it better.?. Quote
Paul Posted September 22, 2018 Posted September 22, 2018 (edited) The Hoghton Arms is a very average pub. The two don't compare in my view - the food and beer at The Royal Oak are far, far superior. Edited September 23, 2018 by Paul 1 Quote
old darwen blue Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Well has anyone tried EastZEast at King George’s yet? Quote

I know a couple of people who have been and they said it was average, when I looked on Trip advisor the last review was from April. They may have had some removed, https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6197373/One-three-TripAdvisor-reviews-fake-claims-Fakespot-website.html Quote
Mattyblue Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 The Observatory has been taken over by mark1875 of this parish, I believe... Quote
JC4LAB Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 H#hope most of the reviews are true ...definitely .one to try.... Quote
islander200 Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 The White Swan been awarded a michelin star Quote
only2garners Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 And Mark Birchall has a second star at Moor Hall, only 18 months after opening. Having been I’m not surprised in the slightest. Quote
Mattyblue Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 Seen that The Pack at Belthorn has suddenly shut down, strange one as it always seemed to do well. Though we did go in December and it was only a fairly limited set menu, no a la carte, we presumed it was due to being the run up to Christmas, but who knows... Quote
old darwen blue Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 Very strange and after a claimed 250k refit too. Quote
matt83 Posted January 12, 2019 Posted January 12, 2019 In spite of the Burnley dialling code going to the white swan. I suspect with its Michelin star prices up portions down. Also I’ll be interested to see how it now compares to northcote. Quote
only2garners Posted January 12, 2019 Posted January 12, 2019 The White Swan is excellent Matt. We've been twice and failed to get into their Christmas Tapas Night this year, having gone last year. The experience is nothing like Northcote. It's very much still a pub in style and looks although the food is vastly better to most other pubs. The cooking is probably a little less refined than Northcote but it's still very inventive and full of flavour. It thoroughly deserves it's Michelin star. Quote
Backroom Tom Posted January 14, 2019 Backroom Posted January 14, 2019 Any suggestions for a nice meal in Edinburgh? Quote
