Presty On Tour Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 odds to win the tournament France 11/8 England 2/1 Ireland 9/2 Wales 7/1 Scotland 12/1 Italy 50/1 anyone hear there's a game at twickenham this saturday? looking at the odd's, wales at 7/1 each way says value for money. beat the english on saturday and with 3 home games theres a chance of welsh success. France at cardiff on the final day could decide it.

Flopsy Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Wales have got an excellent chance, if they can get their forwards working properly. Ireland should walk this but EoS appears to think that just doing what he did for the World Cup will work this time, no strength in depth and the central pairing is looking a lot shakier. England - could be excellent could be incredibly rubbish France - see above Scotland - need to use their backs more - have no strength in depth but first 15 has the chance to get some decent scalps Italy - will probably not get anything, but come damn close
jim mk2 Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Would obviously prefer England to win it but don't really mind because it's only egg-chasing. .........just so long as Wales don't win. Love it when they cry at Cardiff singing their national tune and then get stuffed out of sight. Absolutely love it .......
Bazzanotsogreat Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Its between England & France, the welsh are too weak up front and the rest of the six nations barring Scotland & Italy have equal back divisions. As for Ireland they have missed their chance, there golden generation is over and are missing key men including flannery & O’Connol. France are re-building with only 10 players from their world cup squad available ( injury, retirement or loss of form). As for England the current crop of young players is the best we have produced for decades and with the man-mountain lesley vainikolo adding power, pace to the backs , I fully expect them to be up there come the end of the tournament.
Flopsy Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 The problem is blending them Bazza - I'd love England to do well, but the retirement of Corey is a massive lost, for his skill, his guts and mainly his on field leadership. I get the feeling that if it clicks then we'll be fantastic, and if we dont then we're in the ###### Ireland will probably scrape it by a really flukey win at Twickers on the last day

Ireland along with Wales are in disarray, their WC performance was woeful and seem to have a lack of backup to there fist XV. Both countries have major players missing, whilst both of there packs are sub-standard at international level. The French are re-building, but will be in the top two and Scotland & Italy will fight it out for the wooden spoon.
Bazzanotsogreat Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 How about a 6 nations poll? may be interesting
Presty On Tour Posted January 28, 2008 Author Posted January 28, 2008 bbc wales alway have adverts building up to the england game every year this is legendary http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=qHklhgRJKQ4
Rovermatt Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 bbc wales alway have adverts building up to the england game every year this is legendary http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=qHklhgRJKQ4 Can't say I disagree. However, after four victories on the bounce I fear our number is up this year. I'll probably be watching the England-Ireland game in Mladen's, one of Belfast's newer student bars.
Presty On Tour Posted January 29, 2008 Author Posted January 29, 2008 BALSHAW AT 15 ARGGGHGHGGH hahhahhaaha, i hear he likes the high ball at full back
Presty On Tour Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 so it the ospreys +2 v england cant believe tait has been droped for england though, strange decision imo. not having peel is a big blow for wales, i just hope henson and williams bring their A game.
American Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Was in a pub in Lux for England/Ireland last year. Irish bartender muted the English anthem. In other Rugby news: http://www.scrum.com/39_50604.php
Eddie Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 How rude, although nowhere near as bad as when mindless English supporters decide to boo an anthem.
Bazzanotsogreat Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 How rude, although nowhere near as bad as when mindless English supporters decide to boo an anthem. Rugby or football, ive never heard english rugby fans boo an anthem
American Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 It was actually kind of funny. Even the English fans there had a laugh. Only muted it for about 10 seconds.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 England starting well against Wales. Wilkinson looking superb as usual. Not far off 1000 points for England.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Excellent first half... Throwing it away in the second half... What the hell is going on?!
Flopsy Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Losing Moody, Rees, Tindal and Strettle didnt help, nor Corey previously, or just having a collective brainfart, or playing ###### Balshaw. But that would take away from ho good Wales were after the restart, and how bad england were. England are in transition and will play good and bad rugby, but there was enough in the first half to be not that worried about. Ireland on the other hand were dreadful all the way through the game
Rovermatt Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 You're right Flopsy, yet another dreadful performance from Ireland. The World Cup wasn't a blip it seems. It was a victory at least and the bad showing was at least assuaged by... .........just so long as Wales don't win. Love it when they cry at Cardiff singing their national tune and then get stuffed out of sight. Absolutely love it ....... You lot will never learn will you?
Eddie Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Agree with you flopsy. It was a shocking second half performance, but the quality of the first half means that doesn't worry me so much. The game should have been over before half-time and that slip-up will probably cost us the 6 nations, but if that first half is reproduced in the rest of the tournament then we may well not lose again.
