tchocky Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 We can't just switch to 4-4-2 without running the risk of being overrun in midfield. As you say, their midfield is so strong.. And we are barely holding them off playing 5 there ourselves.. If anyone's to come off it has to be Dunn for Benni. Dunn has been very ineffective and is treading a fine line with the ref now. Derbyshire is not so bad on the right wing.

rovers1993 Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 we have cruz, and peds who is excellent in the air but we're just not supplying quality crosses to them so i think bents needs to go wide. dunn has been effective imo, he has made runs into the box and caused opposition problems. he has been cutting up plays aswell. although he is on a fine line with the ref.
RibbleValleyRover Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Sounds like its kicking off, some yellows given out. Good chance this game wont end without a sending off or two.
LeChuck Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Looks like we're trying to get our bully boys tag back... Ooijer (I think?) was lucky not to give away a penalty when he clattered Johnson in the box.
rovers1993 Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 dunn off benni on... lets see how we do now.. their tearing our defence apart... we have been lucky that we havn't conceded, we need to score and now! come on rovers!!!
tchocky Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Dunnie started the second half well. Unlucky to get a knock. Interesting to see how we do now with 4-4-2. Can see us having some pressure and conceding to lose 1-0....
RibbleValleyRover Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 You can feel the pressure building from Everton. They are all over us.
rovers1993 Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 lucky not to be losing 2 or 3 - 0... fernandes just hit the post from free kick... we're hanging on here!
rovers1993 Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 our turkish-delight is coming on now! bents will be on the right now! this is what i like... come on rovers! tugay scores a cracker 80th minute! 1-0 to us end of game!
RibbleValleyRover Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Radio says we should of had a pen? Benni pulled back?
Cocker Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Radio says we should of had a pen? Benni pulled back? Wrong, Benni slipped
rovers1993 Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 tugay again showing his class... getting us a really good postion freekick! come on rovers! tuck it away now!
rovers1993 Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 we've looked alot better since tugay and benni came on.. i mean ALOT better. we're actually starting to dominate now.
RibbleValleyRover Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Christ that sounded close, bents freekick. Sounds like we are dominating atm.
rovers1993 Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 thank god! thought that was 1 - 0 down!... we are sooo lucky this game!
RibbleValleyRover Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Arteta grabs Gamst by the neck!, No sending off!?!? frucking Hell Cruz over the bar!!!
adopted scouser Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Arteta grabs Gamst by the neck!, No sending off!?!? Pity he didn't throttle him
tony gale's mic Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 yet again we see what a mockery starting derbyshire ahead of benni is.
BRFC1995 Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 After arsenal game we hav the chance to pick up a lot of points boltn, newcastle, fulham, wham, wigan, reading and spuds at home!!! then unfortunately its liverpool & united back to back before derby and brum in run in!!!
Mr. E Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 everton are an excellent side, we can't complain with the point.
BRFC1995 Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 TOSSER RUNNING THROUGH SCORES ON RADIO5 SLIPPED UP AND SAID 0-2, F'ING HEART SANK!! PLANK WANTS SACKING FOR THAT
LeChuck Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I have no idea what was given for their disallowed goal, I'm sure that'll be discussed at length tonight on MOTD. McCarthy was by far the hardest working player on the pitch for us when he was on, it's just a shame his confidence is low because he would have finished off that chance if in form, instead of falling on his arse when a finger brushed his shirt. Decent result in the end, and a fair one too. The game itself was pretty exciting, but woefully short on quality.
tony gale's mic Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 yep, is it any wonder benni is unhappy when hughes will barely give him a start? that one-two he played with santa was the best bit of football we played all match. shame he couldnt finish it off.
Lurid Coat Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I'm even more convinced that the Nelsen injury has been a blessing in disguise for us. The Ooijer/Samba partnership vs Villa and the Ooijer/Zurab one today have looked pretty damn solid in comparison to Nelsen/Samba. My man of the match today is either Andre The Giant or Zurab. Not being nervous as hell everytime the opposition attacks is a feeling that I'd almost forgotten what felt like. Good to see McCarthy working his balls off today. He should have done better with that last chance, but still, he made a positive impact on the game. We were lucky with the offside decision, but then again, we weren't exactly lucky with the linesmen last season.. Rovers vs Wet Spam springs to mind! You'll also be pleased to know that the Rovers supporters severely outnumbered the Everton fans in my local pub in Oslo, by the way
