krislu Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 ROVERS: Friedel, Ooijer, Samba, Khizanishvili, Warnock, Emerton, Bentley, Reid, Pedersen, Santa Cruz, McCarthy. Subs: Brown (GK), Tugay, Mokoena, Derbyshire, Roberts. From the official site. Ooijer at RB, Emerton at RM and Bentley at CM? If thats the case then Hughes has got the line up completely wrong! Ooijer is no right back, should use him a centre back and stick emerton on right back. Also, Bentley IS a right winger and should be used there. Why not use Tugay or Mokoena in the centre along Reid? This is pure crazy, almost souness-like picking of players from Hughes! Luckely for us this will be a walk in the park anayway, Newcastle is so poor that we should have no trouble beating them regardless of our lineup...

I do agree that the line up is really disappointing, though. Emerton should be used as right back and right back only, and Ooijer is much better as centre half than right back. This really speaks volumes about how much Hughes rates Tugay and Mokoena.
Eddie Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I agree with you and anyone saying that we should offer Tugay a new contract should really take a look at this.
krislu Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I agree with you and anyone saying that we should offer Tugay a new contract should really take a look at this. You are so right! Its laughable that we shift around the whole team when one central midfielder is out, while at the same time we have two natural central midfielers on the bench.
RibbleValleyRover Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I just hope these selection/position decisions aren't going to end up ruining our chances in what i consider to be a must win game. I guess we have to trust Sparky's decisions.

Clever what you've said there, either way Hughes cant win
Fife Rover Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I think some of you are confusing Ooijer and Zurab when it comes to playing RB. Zurab is putrid at RB; Ooijer captains Holland from the RB position, and has often played RB for us and done well. OK he does lack a bit of pace in comparison with Bert and Warnock, but he makes up for this with his excellent reading of the game and vast experience. In Hughes we must trust!! (Make this your mantra).
modes98 Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 4 mins in and already Milner is causing us alot of problems. 2 dangerous attacks and Zurab on a final warning already. edit: 3 corners against in 6 mins.
RibbleValleyRover Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Under the cosh here bigtime, Newcastle should have scored.
AggyBlue Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Under the cosh here bigtime, Newcastle should of just scored. Warnock and Emerton have both squandered chances
modes98 Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 We sound awful though. Corners keep going against us. We haven't really got into the game yet, no time on the ball to pass it around. Still it's early and we are traditionally late starters. Although Emerton has sounded pretty good so far, a couple of good runs down the right and that snap shot that went wide.
RibbleValleyRover Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 We seem to be lacking that killer final ball at the moment. Results are going our way in two games, West Ham losing and Spurs who are only just 10 points behind us losing to Birmingham. Edit: *Cut apart by Owen, Gamst made a last ditch block to stop a goalbound shot.*
rovers1993 Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 their dominating us, duffer with another excellent chance. we're not taking control of the game...

Got a link I could listen on? Only got radio 5 here and it's arse v villa
RibbleValleyRover Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 west ham losing 3-0 to chelsea lol! Good result for us, though it won't be if we don't pick up all three points. Villa 1-0 up Senderos own goal, not good for us.
AggyBlue Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Yellow for Bentley after a mis timed tackle on Duff
modes98 Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Got a link I could listen on? Only got radio 5 here and it's arse v villa Subscription to rovers world I'm afraid. Details on rovers.co.uk. Rovers starting to play football now. The st james' crowd are very quiet.
andrew92 Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 ill be happy at HT if it is 0-0, but villa beating arsenal ffs, we need villa ans west ham to lose!
tony gale's mic Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 from BBC: Newcastle have been all over Blackburn. Damien Duff is running amok against his former club and has had one shot bundled away and skimmed another just wide. Alan Smith also had a good chance but saw his header dink over the bar. Blackburn are holding firm for now. :angry2:
modes98 Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 If that was from the first 20mins then fair enough but the last 15mins have been very even. Apart from owen going around brad and missing a sitter just now.
RibbleValleyRover Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Owen should of scored, Friedal came out and we almost got punished.
andrew92 Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 ohhh, i just kaked my self, " owen on freidel, he goes round the keeper!!!!!!!, and puts it wide" ahhh zurab!?!? pfttt
AggyBlue Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Owen should of scored, Friedal came out and we almost got punished. He put it wide when he should have scored
