every time I turn the computer off. It's been doing this for over a week now. Anyone else getting this - and is it right?

Go to your control panel and just change the way windows runs its updates. You probably have them set to install when the system shuts down.

No, it's always downloaded updates on shutdown, just not every night for over a week.
