RoversFanUSA Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 Well ive been to vegas a couple of times and have stayed in a couple of the hotels on the strip. I would reccomend looking online for deals. Try http://www.vegas.com/ its like an orbitz or expidia but for vegas. Hope that helps, have fun and dont lose your shirt.
Redrose49er Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 Stayed at both Luxor and Caeser's, would stay at both again but would prefer Caeser's, very good value and no need to step outside.
American Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 I like NY/NY, but pretty much they all have the same room with a different color scheme.
Grabbi Graeme Posted July 4, 2008 Author Posted July 4, 2008 Thanks for the suggestions, I have the flights booked but still deciding on a place to stay in Vegas I'm going in the last week of October so can anyone give me an idea of the weather over in Vegas at that time of year. Thanks
Rovers in America Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Thanks for the suggestions, I have the flights booked but still deciding on a place to stay in Vegas I'm going in the last week of October so can anyone give me an idea of the weather over in Vegas at that time of year. Thanks It's always pretty much the same. Little rain, it's just the summer is hotter than non-summer. Here's your average conditions by month for Las Vegas http://www.weatherbase.com/weather/weather...8327&refer= Looks like you can expect a high around 80 F for October.
Mc Love Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 I stayed in the Frontier when i was there in 2005. I think it was meant to be torn down though as it was an old hotel. But the room was huge and they had comfy beds. Was right across from the fabulous Wynnnnnnnn casino

Grabbi Graeme Posted December 8, 2008 Author Posted December 8, 2008 Me and the wife both enjoyed it although a week is nowhere near enough to see and do everything, we stayed in a place just off the strip so it wasn't too expensive and we were only a 5 min walk from the strip. Went to see Elton John at Cesers Palace, Tom Jones at MGM and Penn and Teller at The Rio. Also went to the Stratosphere Tower I went on the 2 rides that were open but my wife bottled it. Insanity 900ft above Las Vegas X Scream
Simon Says Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 I spent time in Vegas in September and loved it. Stayed at The Sahara which was inexpensive. Got around all the time on the mono rail. It was staggeringly hot and I spent days walking round with my jaw on the floor. Amazing place. It brash and glorifies in it! Can't wait to go back.
T4E Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 X Scream (Please don't use that word again) me. You went on that? You (Please don't use that word again)ing nutter.

Insanity 900ft above Las Vegas X Scream I was gutted when i went there was a 3 day storm and the rides were closed ,i was devastated...another excuse to go back.Ive stayed at circus circus and the excalibur.Anyone been on the ride at nyny...i was black and blue when i came off .
Grabbi Graeme Posted December 9, 2008 Author Posted December 9, 2008 (Please don't use that word again) me. You went on that? You (Please don't use that word again)ing nutter. X Scream was good but the thrilling ride was Insanity, you are spinning around and you look down and all you can see is a 900ft drop. I was gutted when i went there was a 3 day storm and the rides were closed ,i was devastated...another excuse to go back.Ive stayed at circus circus and the excalibur.Anyone been on the ride at nyny...i was black and blue when i came off . Abbs we didn't go on the ride in New York New York, did you go in that Irish bar that's in NY NY, we ended up there most nights also went into Excalibur on our way back to where we were staying, we sat at the bar in there at about 3am watching people still gambling at that time. It is an amazing place the Miracle Mile shopping at Planet Hollywood where they have a rainstorm indoors every hour.
Gav Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Was over a few weeks ago for the Hatton fight, stayed at Mandalay bay, great hotel. Booked the cheapest room and tipped the receptionist $20 and he gave us a Jacuzzi suite for the duration! Went down to the Wynn, don't think you'll find a better place to stay in Vegas but it’s a bit pricey, the pool area is fantastic and the golf course is spectacular, $500 a round!
Mc Love Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Insanity 900ft above Las Vegas X Scream Holy Crap, i would love to do them but it would only be after a few pints!! It was staggeringly hot and I spent days walking round with my jaw on the floor. Would totally agree. Every block they have people selling water! Its like 10 in the morning and like 35 degrees already Abbs we didn't go on the ride in New York New York, did you go in that Irish bar that's in NY NY That irish bar was full of crap...the price of Guinness in there was a joke! Las vegas is great, you dont even need to gamble and you can still have plenty of fun
Mike Graham Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 I love Vegas: Ballys is a great hotel and has good tables, next door is the Paris Hotel which is very good. Stopped in the Ballagio which is very expensive and has some very upmarket shops like Gucci and Armarni. My choice would be Ballys.....great rooms with a bottle of champers and wine along with a mega cheese platter in the room, friendly staff and plenty (zillions) of slots and tables. Circus Circus has now shut; blame Abbey!
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Insanity 900ft above Las Vegas X Scream That looks like a bit of a laugh, doesn't it?
blahblahblah Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I'm going Vegas in June and I'm probably staying at the Excalibur, haven't booked it yet though. Has anyone stayed in one of their recently refurbed 'Widescreen Deluxe rooms' and if so what can I expect? ... I was thinking about staying in one of their 'Widescreen Spa Rooms' but if the hot tub's the only difference the additional $400 seems like a bit of a waste. Cheers for the info
blahblahblah Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Has Circus Circus closed? No, it's still there
JC4LAB Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Stayed there in a simple backpackers hostel as part of a GAP year trip..Had some great excursions out in the hostel mini bus to Bryce Canyon,Zion and Death Valley..If a group like this just clicks its leaves you with some great memories.
Grabbi Graeme Posted February 21, 2009 Author Posted February 21, 2009 We stayed in a place called Desert Rose Resort, only 5 min walk from MGM and New York New York, it was cheap, rooms were very nice and they did a light breakfast as well. Would recomend it if you dont want the expense of staying in a hotel on the strip.
Grabbi Graeme Posted December 3, 2009 Author Posted December 3, 2009 We booked yesterday for our return to Vegas, going in Feb this time, staying at Desert Rose where we stopped last time, were going back mainly as we didn't go to the Grand Canyon last year, has anyone been on the Grand Canyon trips, any advice on what the best ones are cheers. Also going back as wife wants to see the Legends show and I'm going to try and get her on at least one of the Stratosphere Tower rides.

Also going back as wife wants to see the Legends show and I'm going to try and get her on at least one of the Stratosphere Tower rides. The Canyon tours are much of a muchness I think. The various tour companies tend to offer the packages for similar prices (somebody may correct me if I'm wrong but there didn't seem to be a stand-out deal for cheapness). When we went, we decided to do the coach tour and just walk around ourselves. We got something like 3 hours to go to various edges, take a trip on the Skywalk (which was fantastic) and then buy some crappy souvenirs before going back. It was thoroughly worthwhile - one of the best experiences of my entire life. However, you might want to consider the helicopter tour. It was something like $80 more per person (if my memory serves me right) but I'd imagine the views woud be spectacular. We're hoping to go again at the end of next year, and if we do the Canyon tour again then we'd definitely go by helicopter. At the end of the day, you are absolutely guaranteed to love it whatever you do. It's a place that just has to be seen to be believed.
