they_think_its_all_rover Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 2-0 to Hull so far... Mike Riley... HOW is this guy a Prem ref!?? He's sent TWO Hull player off... AND TWO Burnley players... He gave TWO yellows to a Burnley player and it took him 5 minutes to realise he'd gave him two yellows! Hull (from the commentry on the radio) should have had THREE penalties.... NONE given. AND Fraizer Campbell through one on one on goal after a foul on Caleb Folan... Riley blew his whistle and stopped him and brought play back! Playing the advantage!?? You should hear the crowd... my god, I'm suprised Riley hasn't ran off the pitch in embarrassment!

philipl Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Riley has always been a seriously deficient ref. Putting blinkers to one side, it is terribly unfair on both clubs that they drew that clown and now face suspensions because of his inadequacies.
ABBEY Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 what do you expect from someone who works in nelson...shouldnt be allowed at least they lost
1864roverite Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 I bet Nicko has some comments to make about this circus of a game
they_think_its_all_rover Posted March 4, 2008 Author Posted March 4, 2008 Well, Hull's sending offs were off the ball, and the ref sent them off on the basis a Burnley player was laid on the floor clutching their face... he didn't actually see either and only consulted the linesman for one of the sending offs... So... either Caleb Folan & JayJay Okocha hit the Burnely players OR the Burnely players cheated and tried to get them sent off.
philipl Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 What a set of coincidences. Andrew Cole gets bailed today, Burnley get a fine of £10,000 for not controlling their players at Preston. and think if that was fun, why not get two more sent off at Hull as well. The two dingles both went for two slo mo yellows whilst Hull lost Folan and Okocha to straight reds for off the ball incidents. Tonight must have been refs' happy hour with two red cards for the price of one in the lower reaches, four other clubs ended with nine players besides Hull and the dingles.
Plastic Head Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 I don't care who the ref was or who scored. Dingles lost and that's good enough for me. Maybe too late for relegation this season but should be next.
colin Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 It sounds like a good night out for all concerned. I'm just glad I'm not one the Hull to Burnley route.
they_think_its_all_rover Posted March 5, 2008 Author Posted March 5, 2008 Turns out apparently Folan's was an ala Frank Lampard against West Ham... with the Burnley player going down like he'd been shot & the Okocha one... the Burnley player came up behind him and jumped on his shoulders, he shrugged his shoulders and did a little shove away... a less so shove than Lampard's... The Burnley player went down like a sack of spuds, laid on the floor til the ref had sent Okocha off, then realised Burnley had a corner and he'd have to go off as it's an "injury" to the head... so he got up and ran into the box, whilst getting yellow carded... once he got to the box and the ref signaled to play on, he then realised he'd booked him twice... so then sent him off. Funny thing is... Riley went to his assistant to ask about the Okocha incident and then made his decision....BUT the assistant never waved his flag to signal a foul in the first place... so obviously DID NOT SEE IT! More reasons cameras are needed in football these days.
Grabbi Graeme Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Riley is one of the worst refs we have , on a par with fatty Phil Dowd and Alan Wiley, is Riley still on FIFA list of refs because if he is just shows how desperate FIFA are. Chances are SSN will interview Jeff I used to be a ref Winter to get his reaction.
yoda Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 This thread should be merged with "best headline ever" on the icbinf section, best headline ever burney 0
blue phil Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 More reasons cameras are needed in football these days. But what use are cameras if the authorities don't act retrospectively on what they show ? Divers and cheats who try to get players sent off should be banned . Oh .....Makelele's playing tonight after a challenge the other day that made Tiny's look like a playful toepoke .
Grabbi Graeme Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Well after Tues performance and his red card count pushed up he might want to have a low level quiet game.
