broadsword Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 They're not called Lucky Goldstar any more though, they're just LG. I thought they made vacuum cleaners and 'phones. http://www.lg.net/about/business/electroni...jsp?com_code=04

ace Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Perspex McEwans Lager CIS Insurance HSA Bet 24 Have I missed any? Looks like Crown Paints will be the only one that I may actually buy a product from. But not if B & Q's own brand is £5 cheaper. Has anyone ever bought anything because it's on the front of a football shirt? Is anyone so stupid? Possibly not..but I refused to buy Vodaphone when it was on the front of acertain red shirt!!
Backroom trueblue Posted March 14, 2008 Backroom Posted March 14, 2008 They're not called Lucky Goldstar any more though, they're just LG. I thought they made vacuum cleaners and 'phones. They make all kinds of domestic electrical appliances
cletus Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Not a clue what the product is: Bolton - RBK Reading - Kyocerb Everton - Chang Spurs - Mansion WHU - XL XL.....is that a range of clothing for Americans?
Flopsy Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Possibly not..but I refused to buy Vodaphone when it was on the front of acertain red shirt!! and I hate the Dandy Warholes for allowing their song to be used on the vodaphone advert showing ManUre playing
Ozz Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Coors (remember that one?) for one game only, if i remember right. Yep-Nottingham Forest at home IIRC. They looked like they had literally blu-tacked the Coors bit over the McKewans logo. I blame Sean Bean.
1864roverite Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 LG = Lifes Great - new company logo apparently XL is Excell Airways I beleive, crap planes, crap food and crap entertainment
speeeeeeedie Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 I like our new sponsor. Nothing to do with the company, just that it's a bit different. We used to have a beer sponsor when the league and loads of other teams had beer sponsors. Now we have a betting firm with a few others doing the same. Sponsorship is all about brand recognition, not sales generation. The more places you see the brand the more recognised it will be. AIG are a massive company, they just want their name out there, they are not specifically targeting Man U fans. I've also never refused to buy something because they sponsor a rival team.
chocky Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 LG = Lifes Great - new company logo apparently XL is Excell Airways I beleive, crap planes, crap food and crap entertainment LG stands for Lucky Goldstar...Life's great is it's advertising campaign...
Paul Mellelieu Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Thats very good! Are you looking to work alongside me on the new moderating team Paul? btw wanna come to the housewarming? I'd ask others from your neck of the woods except I've only put standard 30" doors on. You'll have to explain that one to me big boy.
philipl Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 XL.....is that a range of clothing for Americans? That would be XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXL on a 100 inch shirt
thenodrog Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Possibly not..but I refused to buy Vodaphone when it was on the front of acertain red shirt!! Me too. Unfortunately there's no escape....... I'm now on O2. btw I made a point of never buying Sharp stuff either.
JAL Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but did Scottish and Newcastle put sponsorship money into Rovers just as they were about to close the Lions brewery Blackburn same as Crown paints are about to close a part of its Darwen business. Is the part of the smoothing over process into closing the Darwen site ?
Manchester Blue Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 You'll have to explain that one to me big boy. Well AS found it funny so maybe he knows what it was about, I have to admit I was struggling somewhat.

Is the part of the smoothing over process into closing the Darwen site ? Crown Paints are NOT closing part of thier Darwen business.. Akzo Nobel are selling Crown Paints because they have acquired Dulux Paints and can not hold both. The part of the paint industry in Darwen that is facing losing jobs is Industrial Paints - which is still owned by Akzo Nobel.. and the reason jobs are on the line is because Akzo want to reloctate the manufacture of Industrial Paints to Holland.

Thank you, yes i did know that, i was just being a little bit mischievous wondering if there was another motive behind the sponsorship deal.
broadsword Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Just had another look at the photo, they can't be happy with what is presumably a mock-up, it's not an easily discerned logo in black on blue/ white.
Paul Mellelieu Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Well AS found it funny so maybe he knows what it was about, I have to admit I was struggling somewhat. I think it must have something to do with crime, but I'm still guessing.

CaliRoverNYC Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 I too hope the sponsor is in red, the black clashes a bit on the blue half of the shirt... either way it'll look better than Bet24
USABlue Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Irony of ironies. Rovers hired a top American sponsorship searcher and he found a company in Darwen. He had a limited travel expense account.
adopted scouser Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 I think it must have something to do with crime, but I'm still guessing. 'Crime', oh I see what you did there, very good. Shouldn't you be out fighting fascism ?
Flopsy Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 I'm surprised he has time to post on here, what with him manning the barricades against capitilism I dont care who's our sponsor is as long as its never budweiser
b12_simon Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Possibly not..but I refused to buy Vodaphone when it was on the front of acertain red shirt!! And I refuse to get Endsleigh insurance cos of their past support of our Yorkshire neighbours.
