pksrover Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Yeah Arshavin's a good shout. We should try snapping Sergio Ramos for right back and Torsten Frings for central midfield while we're at it... ...and I suppose C Ronaldo (have heard some rumours that he wants out of Man Utd) would make a decent replacement for Bentley as well...

Rovermatt Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 ...and I suppose C Ronaldo (have heard some rumours that he wants out of Man Utd) would make a decent replacement for Bentley as well... Too pricey. We should look at Quaresma instead.
roverich Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 I reckon Kewell could be a decent signing. I think people are very quick to criticise at the moment - I hope you are all just as quick to eat your hats if Ince and any of his signings do well! Kewell has still looked good for Liverpool in the few games he has played this season and it's exactly the kind of signing that might give MGP the kick up the ass he needs to get back some consistency to his form. He'll be cheap and can provide better competition for MGP on the left than we've had in years.

Any deal we sign him on must be pay-as-you-play, at least initially for the first year otherwise we should look elsewhere.
A cup of beans Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 I reckon Kewell could be a decent signing. IMO kewell is finished as a top flight player. his injury record is shocking. a few liverpool fans i know question his desire too!
BuckyRover Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 IMO kewell is finished as a top flight player. his injury record is shocking. a few liverpool fans i know question his desire too! That's what Bayern thought about Roque Sometimes a new start can work out very well (sometimes it doesn't; thats life)
Majiball Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 That's what Bayern thought about Roque Sometimes a new start can work out very well (sometimes it doesn't; thats life) Exactly we have a good physio team led by Fevre, look what they have done with Dunn and Roque two players renowned for injuries. MGP needs a rocket, he knows he will play week in week out, he needs competition he was at his best when he first game to the Prem and had a point to prove, he's to comfortable now. Kewell if fit is a good player, he can play left and in the hole and is more creative than most of our current crop, as he's on a free we should have a look!
FourLaneBlue Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Nothing wrong with signing old friends who are still in the Premier League. Is there more of these players? Macca still playing? Are they friends? Don´t think they ever played on the same team. Available on a free...if he could ever get over his injuries he could be an excellent signing. Why do you always complain and criticise? You did it for three years under Hughes whenever a team lineup was announced so I thought you would be glad of a change!

Now, I wasnt always complaining, just when he got the tactics and lineup wrong Signing Kewell could be an excellent signing?! FFS, the lad has hardly played a game for god knows how long.
donis1410 Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 I signed Kewell on champ man and he was awesome for rovers and he adaptability worked wonders, lol!!!!!!!
rebelmswar Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 I signed Kewell on champ man and he was awesome for rovers and he adaptability worked wonders, lol!!!!!!! I bought a player called Gabby Rodgers in 2021 season perhaps we should hang around the hospital now so we can sign him as soon as he leaves the birth canal, he was born in London as I recall, in about two months.
unleaded Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Latest is that Turkeys Version of Viara Mehmet Aurélio could be Inces first signing.............Rovers along with a Spainish club are believed to be after the Fenerbahce star.........He is in the last year of his contract and could move on this summer but has the option of a 1 year extension............. He is ideal for the English game in that hes a tireless type of player. .............Runs like a dog all the game, good defensive awareness, his legs are very long and this gives him a lot of advantage.......................................worth keeping an eye on the semi-finals................................. Aurelio `s a threat on offensive set pieces. He scored a lot headers from corners/free kicks...................................
krislu Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 ...............................................okay, any idea of what he would cost?............

Key player for Turkey and Fenerbache, perhaps Toogs could give him a call?
Bobby G Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 He is 31 years old and add to that that Vogel is also 31 and both are defensive midfielders so I am not too chuffed.
American Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Now, I wasnt always complaining, just when he got the tactics and lineup wrong Signing Kewell could be an excellent signing?! FFS, the lad has hardly played a game for god knows how long. Yes, I believe I've seen about twice in a 3 or 4 year period when you've had something positive to post about a player...
bringdunnback Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 I was impressed by him during the Euro's, similar to the Senna guy from Spain, he rarely loses the ball in midfield but he may be too similar to Vogel. BTW hasn't Aurelio got the same agent as Micheal Laudrap?
krislu Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Yes, I believe I've seen about twice in a 3 or 4 year period when you've had something positive to post about a player... We should stop signing all these half-decent players then On a serious note, I was optimistic about Barry Ferguson, Ooijer, McCarthy, RSC and perhaps some more. I would rather we sign someone I've never heard of than proven garbage like Kewell..
Ronin Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 He is 31 years old and add to that that Vogel is also 31 and both are defensive midfielders so I am not too chuffed. At least he's not some bloke from Fizzy Pop League 2, as feared. I think he's done well at the Euros, although is he one of the suspended ones for the semis?

I would rather we sign someone I've never heard of than proven garbage like Kewell.. Proven garbage that is priceless. If we could get him for free and rehabilitate him things might go well. If it doesn't work out we could sell him to Big Club. Either way we could have been linked to worse.

On a serious note Blackburn scouts are supposdly going to put a list to Ince today/tomorrow with a number of targets theyve been looking at! Greek centre forward charesteas(sp?) is top of this list after his club nuremberg said they'd sell for 3 million! I think hes too much like cruz and not what we need at present!A quick little nippy striker would be better!
Billy Castell Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Sweinsteiger apparently wants to come to England. No idea on price, but who knows?
