BRFC1995 Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Fella has'nt even had his press conference yet, there is no way any journalist(rumourmonger) has the slightest inkling of who we'll be after! Kewell, seriously how obvious a link was that. I speculated in another post a week ago that i was relieved as it looked as though he was off to roma and not us. Tomorrow's lazy journalism will say saha,lennon,scholes,giggs,..entire mk dons team! I'd like to think he'll set the bar high and lay down a marker with a worldy for his 1st signing! on a side note, What the hell are bolton doing bidding £12m for elmander? megson to be sacked before august is out anyone, nothing quite like putting all your eggs in one basket!
herbergeehh Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 He runs on all fours? On a serious note Blackburn scouts are supposdly going to put a list to Ince today/tomorrow with a number of targets theyve been looking at! Greek centre forward charesteas(sp?) is top of this list after his club nuremberg said they'd sell for 3 million! I think hes too much like cruz and not what we need at present!A quick little nippy striker would be better! How do you know this ? Charisteas is a brilliant player by the way, being tall shouldn't exclude him from our list of targets, he has quite a lot of pace aswell. In general I agree, a Bellamy/Saviola type of player would be the perfect addition to Santa Cruz - but then again, the Klose / Toni partnership works quite well. Roma going for Kewell? They might've bought Riise, and Mancini is leaving - but THAT would totally amaze me.
neekoy Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Very exciting times ahead for Rovers if Paul continues to aim highThe same link as I put in nicko's thread
krislu Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Very exciting times ahead for Rovers if Paul continues to aim highThe same link as I put in nicko's thread Well, thats all the players he know of. Former teammates or div.4 and conference players, happy times indeed!
bellamy11 Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Why do people believe that a player who has played at the top level for both club and country has magically forgotten how good you have to be to get there and believes that League 2 players can do the job just as well? I'm pretty sure Paul Ince will know how good a central midfielder has to be to play in the prem, and I'm pretty sure he will know a good one when he sees one. Crazy as that must sound to some on here. As an aside, nice to see unleaded back with the rumours. I don't think one has ever been right in the history of time, but I do enjoy reading them.
rover6 Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I don't think one has ever been right in the history of time, but I do enjoy reading them. Although, to be fair to unleaded, I believe he was the first to bring us news of Peter Odemwingie and Mounir El Hamedoui's arrivals at Rovers for trials. (This was during the Souey era and both were wanted but Rovers didn't stump up enough cash). Olofinjana would be a decent signing, imo. It would spell the end for Vogel, probably, but the guy has athleticism, ability and if moulded into a holding player, he'd be effective, I think. Whilst, he's no dream ticket, we could do a lot worse. (Edit: Although, I wonder if he is much better than Emerton the DM. It would be a shame if Bert wasn't given more opportunities to make that position his own because he's got the attributes to make a good job of it). I have to say, however, that I am a little worried about how Ince will use any funds given to him if Bentley is sold. I strongly suspect that his knowledge of our transfer market is weak - so I hope he's got some reliable advisers and is prepared for meticulous research.
Billy Castell Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I wonder how much that Turkish guy Arda is worth? I like what little I saw of him. As for the Nigerian guy, I doubt he'll come and its paper talk. However, if he did come, I reckon Mokoena would be the one to go.
BRFC1995 Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I'm made up we got the right manager and as long as premiership has been garbage like Kewell or viduka(you get my drift) don't turn up i'm not going to be pessimistic about where the signings come from until they've had a chance....really only pessimistic about the fact i just don't see roberts getting binned off before the manager assesses him. we don't need a goalie thats for sure, plenty of center halves, full backs are strong, vogel and emo cm, .......pacy striker, pacy left winger, bentley replacement and a few squad players...i'd hope thats how the guv'nor see's it!
thenodrog Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 .......pacy striker, pacy left winger, bentley replacement and a few squad players...i'd hope thats how the guv'nor see's it! To replace who?
Fife Rover Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 He runs on all fours? On a serious note Blackburn scouts are supposdly going to put a list to Ince today/tomorrow with a number of targets theyve been looking at! BRFC1995 Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 not really to replace anyone, it'd just be nice to have the option of lightning pace. However, would'nt miss McCarthy or Roberts if buyers could be found. Would like the new manager to find a system that got the best of Derbyshire whilst on the subject of strikers as the fella can finish but just never seemed in the past that he totally belonged in the first team. Pace always gives us the option of defending from the front, as when we play big teams we don't half come under extreme pressure for long periods and it would be nice to have an out ball.
Hughesy Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Id like to see a pacey striker also - but not to replace Benni, but to replace Roberts. There is obviously a buyer out there for him (Cardiff) so lets milk them for all we can get I say.
Rob of the Rovers Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 I hope Ince was watching the Turkish right back tonight....
brfcshabba Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 I hope Ince was watching the Turkish right back tonight.... You mean the one who disappeared by the German third goal and the same one who let the crosses in for the first and the second?
Hughesy Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Yeah i hope he watched him and then now thinks 'forget him'
Ronin Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Thought Mehmet Aerelio (sp?) played well. If we were watching him, definitely be worth following up.
Rob of the Rovers Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 You mean the one who disappeared by the German third goal and the same one who let the crosses in for the first and the second? I was more focusing on the non-stop running up and down the line and his assists for both Turkish goals. Granted, I may have overlooked his defensive short-comings
Exiled_Rover Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 I was more focusing on the non-stop running up and down the line and his assists for both Turkish goals. Granted, I may have overlooked his defensive short-comings As Sabri's a right winger...

Pace always gives us the option of defending from the front, as when we play big teams we don't half come under extreme pressure for long periods and it would be nice to have an out ball. Trouble is pace costs. We could probably afford a pacey-but-can't-hit-a-horses-arse-with-a-banjo striker like another Dickov but anyone who's fast and can find the back of the net without a stadium map is strictly for the big rich clubs.
Hughesy Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 Bellamy wouldnt be a bad signing if he would return on a sensible wage.
Ronin Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 If he could stay out of the physio room and keep his nose clean. I just think he's had his chance at Rovers. One to avoid.
Silencio Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 Dickov was slow and couldn't hit a barn door. He did look faster than he was though...
b12_simon Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 Gudjohnsen? Although not that quick? I've long wanted us to go for Gudjohnsen. I reckon he's still good enough to play for a team with top 6 ambitions like Rovers.
