And there is no reason why Lennon is not playing? And yes there are plenty on here already desperate to get rid of Bentley. I'm not saying don't; just be careful what you wish for - you might get it.

People are confusing the discussion Gumboots. The argument is basically Lennon or cash? Right?

Out of favour? Same way Brad was when we signed him.

And yes I AM desperate to get rid of the tosser.

If Bentley does go I think we should be looking at bringing in players for both wings. We cannot have another season of MGP in the form he was in. Bring in some competition at least.

This is a point I've been making for over a season now . Pederson seems to have lost all motivation and hunger ; it goes beyond a simple loss of form .

At the very least he needs a strong challenger for his position .

Eddie's idea of sticking him in the middle isn't the solution ...........unless he means the bench that is .

just to see what we are up against, MH new side man city have just spent 19million on a new striker, that is more money on one player then he had at his time at rovers.

If there are then after his TV outbursts it is understandable.

Nonsense. Another badly advised 23 year old talking out of his hat (###### up with a glass of wine in his hand :o - in the close season!!) on the instructions of his agent. Any top 4 big club watching that the other week would have been utterly unimpressed.

Turn on him if you like, Lennon is a 2nd rate replacement (although a good player he's nowhere near as good).

Please all carry on (not you FLB) with the Lennon v Bentley debate. Last I heard he wasn't for sale but he wants to go to a Champions League team. How a swap with a player from lowly Spurs comes into it I have no idea. Plus Lennon runs like a girl.

Don't know how reliable the Mirror rumour is but if there is some substance to it, and we could tweak it up a bit to say, 10m + Lennon, it would be a superb bit of business for us imo.

As for giving Mokoena a new contract, in the name of god, why?

We'll be giving new contracts away with three cereal box tops next.

Lets get something straight, if we sell Bentley for whatever amount, who would we replace him?

Its clear a player is worth much more than money sitting in a bank...

Getting Lennon who has certain qualities notably pace and then adding the rest to sign a top quality attacking midfielder, right back, striker wouldnt be the worst piece of business.

I find it hard to imagine who we could replace Bentley with...But Lennon excites me. We havent seen pace in a long time in our team, since Bellamy and before that God knows who had it, maybe Duff...With just his pace he would create havoc for most teams...

really don't buy this for a second, he would be a no.2 who would get less games here than at chelsea and is probably already on bigger money than Brad. Yet more ink wasted in the tabloids.

Diouf story smells an awful lot like lazy tabloid balls as well, he's out of favour at a nearby team therefore by the logic of 2+2 he's coming here, not having it.

Until i read stories of actual bids being lodged, rather than the tabloid favorite of "interested in", i won't give credance to any of this rubbish!

The Sun reports that Paul Ince's first signing will be Chelsea goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini.

Speculating but it makes perfect sense if Brad has intimated to JW that he's keen and willing to take up the reported Aston Villa offer. O'neill is desperate for a top keeper after Benitez's ridiculous valuation of Carson and has reputedly inquired about Friedal. One last big pay day at his age must be a big temptation for Freidal.

I've a feeling that we are going to see one disappointment after another in the coming weeks. :(

It's very possible, but from reports that have been released so far, i get the impression that Brad and Ince's relationship isn't so bad.

If they hadn't exactly seen eye to eye at Liverpool then i'd say the theory is a definate goer - Hopefully there isn't another awful possibility hiding behind it, in that Ince might still remember him as "that dodgy keeper that Liverpool got rid of?"

The last match of the season at Birmingham would not help Brad's case .................. :(

As I've said on the Brad thread Roversmum..Ince apparantley is making a move for Carlo Cudicini...according to S.S.N.

That last match doesn't seem to have harmed Bentley, yet if he'd performed like an 'England International' should, we'd have been in Europe this season.

If this does happen and Freidal leaves for a million or so, and after Hughes and Bowen and Niedswicki to City for 5m and being replaced by the cheap option in Ince and Mathias, (and know possibly Knox?) and Bents and RSC reputedly in the shop window could it be that BRFC are intent on cashing in as many chips in as possible?...... and for whatever reason.

This could be like selling house and then just before moving out taking all the light bulbs and digging up the plants from the garden.

If Friedel were to leave I might agree that it would look like a "would the last one to leave please turn out the lights" job.

At this stage however there's no indication whatsoever Brad is after a move (other than eventually retiring back to the U.S.)

And as a straight replacement for Enckleman as experienced back up, Cudicini would represent a huge improvement.

As regards another point you made, in the unlikely event Friedel were to leave, we'd get a lot more than a million wouldn't we? I thought Brad had quite a bit left on his contract?

Can't imagine Cudicini coming to Ewood as a number two Rev. Why would he want to do that? He could get first team football at a lot of places.

Possibly, but he was obviously happy sitting on the bench at Chelsea the last few years.

Note that the Sun got Brad's age wrong, quoting him at 38 when in fact he has just turned 37.

Don't know if that is an indication of how accurate the story is.

I would think he'd be on far more money as a number two at Chelsea, than a number two at Ewood.
