I find that a bit depressing TBH. The squad has been in need of revitalising for at least a couple of seasons, IMO.

To get away from the horrible home form, it will take more than two players.

Bet there's not another Prem club planning on bringing ONLY two new players into their squad.

I think Ince has to be applauded - as many managers would make changes for the sake of it. I think we also need to consider the youngsters coming through - bring in more over-paid squad players and you block the young players progress. Personally I am looking to see whether Olsson, Treacy or Peter can make an impact under Ince.

Strangely then, other clubs will be thinking that bringing in experienced, quality players is the way forward. You would rather play Treacy, Olssen and Peter? ----- first division players bring first division football DMTP.

I'm talking quality Modes.

I think if we brought in the 2 right players, (Kaka and Puyol) we would be sorted. But seriously, it depends on who the players are and there is no point bringing in bodies. Right player, at the right time, for the right price.

And one of them might be Stoor, oh dear, we might well be doomed...

Ince is quoted in the LT as saying he's "hoping" to bring in "one or two" new acquisitions.

Tend to agree with you den, but what can we do until we get new owners?

Is this geezer from Rosenborg at 1.5m the sort of quality we need to improve the side though?

Just throwing it out for debate as I don't know anything about him.

I doubt it, but i guess that's why they going to watch him in pre-season, along with other targets and then make moves. On the flip side, he can't be any worse than Reid at right back.

Robbo according to the Wiki....stoors were boots and are more "man" like. So we are in luck

Phew that's a relief. Tugay possesses hobbit traits too. Maybe he's a deal-maker? Looks like we're tapping into a new market... Footballing hobbits!

Anyway. Stoor would make sense as Emmo could be used elsewhere and then we wouldn't need to use Ooijer as a reserve RB.

I'd agree if we actually played the bench players. Not so smart to pay Berner and Henchoz decent salaries to sit on their butts.

If Ollson is seen to be a division one player then why have there been murmers of Hughesy making a bid for him, there have been plently of rave reviews about the player from his youth performances in sweden and he has been called up to the full swedish squad a couple of times. I say give the guy a chance. And also Sergio Peter and Marceo Rigters were not given a fair crack of the whip last season, I would of liked to see more of them to be honest. because in the previous seasons mister Peter looked very promising and was in all fairness giving MGP something to worry about. Now Marceo displayed what he could do in the Under 21 Euro Champs last year and was impressive, he played hardly any minutes for us all be it from the performance at Ewood against Larissa, but lets be fair the whole team was poor in that game.

With the Bentley situation I think we should take the money IF the right offer came in, I hope that we can keep him but if a player doesn't want to play then why waste the opportunity to bring in 2 or 3 up and comming or useful players that could improve the club as a whole.

Central midfield wise I have heard whisper of a certain argentine by the name of Aimar being unhappy and apparantly being available for 5 million, a player who has impressed previously in the champions league for valencia although now at another spanish club. Striker wise if we sold Roberts who would we bring in to apply the strength that he does, also why are we hanging on to Paul Gallagher? He is yes a potentially good player but her is not going to get into the rovers side as present and we should let the boy have a chance at making a career for himself, look what Joe Garner has done, He has made his way from League 2 to League 1 and now there is talk of a move to Championship with Forest.

We have too many players that just are not getting in the team, if we get rid of these players, bring in some money, and let Ince build his own SQUAD, then maybe we can acheive something, but we have to allow time for this to occur as we will have the same back bone of players.

Paul Ince is interviewed today in the Lancashire Telepgraph, he says that everyone in the current squad is going to get a chance and that he expects to sign 2 players before the transfer window shuts in August.

That is very worrying.

The side started to look very stale towards the end of the last season, we could do with more than two new faces to freshen up the side.

Although...that statement was probably made thinking Bentley will stay, I'm sure we'll sign more than two if he does leave.

We need to sign at least 3. If we only sign 2 players then that means we will have only added 3 players to our squad in 24 months and really very few over the past few seasons. Things get stale, players get too comfortable and they also start to realise that the club isn't improving much or even trying to improve. We need some new faces around the place. Excite the fans, excite the players and let the new manager make a bit of a mark on things. I hope it's just a case of him not wanting to sound like he was going to come in and bring in an entirely new squad.

We have a decent player turnover, but surely it's about keeping your best players?

Benni, Rocky, Samba, Ooijer, Roberts, Warnock, Dunn.

Not bad first team additions in the past 2 years, with very little cash available.

Being given Championship funds will inevitably lead to championship football?

Ince will likely have to stretch his finances at Rovers even more than Hughes had to. As for those players...would they do any worse than Berner or Mokoena? At least having squad players on (presumably) low wages should mean we can plough what we do have into our first teamers...although we do not have so much choice. Worrying as these days it becomes more and more a squad game...

This is where we are seeing how the 3million from the Trust is really going to be missed. That 3 mill would allow us to buy a reasonably cheap squad player and pay his wages for...what...3 years? Then another player the next year etc... It will not make the difference between us buying an expensive top quality but it will mean the difference between an extra 3mill spent on players each player.

I dont think for a minute Ince is going to make a sweeping statement that he is going to sign 5 or 6 players.

Look at it logically and ask yourself what is broken in the squad ?

We do need a midfielder with quality and we do need a right back.

Do we need a striker ? No we dont unless one of them leaves.

Do we need a Bentley replacement ? No unless he leaves.

Do we need a keeper ? No unless Brad or Brown leaves.

There is not a lot wrong with our current squad, a little tinkerning but no wholesale changes.

Whilst I sort of agree with you there are three things to consider.

1) As Eddie said you need new players to keep everyone on their toes as much as anything else.

2) Ince will not by definition share Hughes' philosophy. He is his own man, he will need to make his own impressions. Our squad may not have the materials to put into effect his best tactics, so we might need to reshuffle to let Ince's ideas flourish.

3) The huge influx of money at so many clubs is raising the bar considerably every year. Look at the depth of squad at Everton, Spurs, Newcastle, Man City, Villa let alone the big four. We need to improve in order to keep up.
