What about that Harrison who's just left Boro? He would have been a coach when Ince was there. Reckon he's headed for our backroom?

Failing that, how about Derek Faz to return after being shown the door by Hughes at City? I don't know if there's been any indication that Ince has all the backroom staff he intends in place already. Sounds a little thin to me still.

Why? Jack Walker must have had a darned good reason when HE sacked him donkeys years ago. It might be prudent to find out why that happened before talking of finding even more jobs for the boys.

Sotirios Kyrgiakos - On a free transfer, greek international centre half, we should sign him up if Ooijer goes home.

Mineiro - Defensive midfielder and 32 years of age and boasts 25 caps for Brazil, on a free would be better than an axe.

Lars Jacobsen - Brilliant right back on a free after letting his contract with relegated Nuremburg run out, was wanted by Everton and PSG a year ago and is a danish internacional.

Fredson - Brazillian defensive midfielder, recently released by Espanyol and is 27.

Santiago Ezquerro - Striker and winger, been released from Barcelona and would be an excellent signing for us, 32.

Gyorgy Garics- Fantastic athletic austrian right back who impressed in the Euros and is up for sale by his club side Napoli.

Johan Micoud - Released form Bordeaux and is 33 but is a good player, who can on his day be a brilliant playmaker.

Jimmy Briand - Rennes prodigy and would cost at most £8 million but is fast, skillfull and has a good eye for goal, will be a future french internacional.

Stephane Mbia - Rennes hardman in midfield who is very defensive but can pass, only 22 but would cost in the region of £4 million.

Valon Behrami - So we say goodbye to Bentley but we could gain Behrami who is quicker, able to deliver a decent cross and will run at players, can also play right back and is only young. Price region is pricy £9 million.

Andres D'allesandro - We need someone to get off our seats so how about this fella for a few million still only 28, got to be a target.

Mohammed Tchité - Racing Santanders excellent 24 year old fast striker who would be a perfect signing and partner for Santa Cruz with his pace. £ 6 million.

Where were you with that list when interviews were being handed out?

D'Allasandro would be great, quick and exciting.

Briand - sort and standard of player we should be going for and taking a gamble on - could go on to ge greats, worth a shot.

Behrami aint worth £9m in my opinion tho

I thought we should have got Carlos Bocanegra when he was free.

I thought we should have got Carlos Bocanegra when he was free.

He is a nasty player with a history of cringeworthy tackles, the one on mark delaney not long after his debut stands out as a shocker.

Wouldn't like to see him in a rovers shirt.

Russ: You don't just have to pick these players out. You have to make sure that they are good enough to make the switch. De Pedro and Grabbi are prime examples of players with good records that had no chance.

Not entirely sure what you're getting at, which comment are you referring to?

Picking the right players is a fairly important part of being a manager I think. Not the be all and end all I concede, but it helps. Some managers are judged and remembered on that alone.

How do you make sure they are good enough to make the switch, without trying them in the league they're going to?

There is seldom such a thing as a guaranteed success of a transfer, Ronaldo would look good in any team in the world for example - the same would've been said of Shevchenko tho right??

Did Grabbi have that good a record? not at the top level, looked good in Serie B, but Souey supposedly signed him on the strength of a few DVDs.

Most people in England had never heard of Grabbi or de Pedro before they signed for us, so their reputations didn't exactly precede them??

Kyrgiakos is a dreadful defender. Think of him along the lines of Lorenzo Amoruso. I go and watch a Rennes game every season as they are only an hour from where I go on holiday. Briand is a very good player. He is very quick, good on the ball and can go past defenders. However he is not a natural goal scorer. He fits perfectly into Rennes strict 4-3-3 formation, operating as a wide forward. He would be a good signing, but people shouldn't expect him to score 10-15 goals a season. Anyway, he wants to go to PSG. I don't know why, every year good players from teams like Rennes demand a transfer to PSG and throw away their promising careers to a team that consistently under perform and have nearly been relegated on the last day for the past couple seasons, while Rennes go on and push for Europe, making the players decision look very foolish. Former Rennes defender Gregory Bourillon is a prime example. The future France international wanted out, went to PSG, had a terrible season, having to go to last game of the season before safety was assured.

Mbia is a good player. Liverpool and Man United were supposed to be interested at some point. He would be better than the Axe.

don't know if it's realistic, but i'd like to see us get colin kazim-richards if/when bentley leaves.

I know he is only 21 and he should still improve but i really don't see all the fuss. The guy has scored a goal or 2 and is suddenly really highly rated.

I think most of his hype comes from the 'Sheffield Utd reject to Champions League and Euro 2008' transformation in his career.

Joaquin would be a great move if we could pull it off. Not sure about Pennant, especially if he costs more than £3m or so. Any movement on Castillo I wonder?

Kusack is a dodgy keeper, with an attitude problem. The BBE didn't like him last season.

Foster would be ok but he has just had a massive injury for any player and it'll be interesting to see how he recovers from it.

We weren't fans of Sav til he signed either. Agree with your other points though.

speak for yourself. i always liked Savage, even when he was being an idiot. there's something irresistible about the guy's personality. He's like the kid in your class who drives you crackers but you can't ever get really mad with him.
