jny Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 I sincerely hope Brad does not leave as he will be one of our greatest heroes if he finishes his career avec us, I can also see him come into managment with us in the future. However if Brad is to leave I think these three may be good targets. Essam El Hadari - at 35 is no spring ckicken, but he was probably the best player for Egypt in the most recent African Cup of Nations (of which of course they won). His reflex saves (like Brad's) were awesome and he'll go cheap (considering he signed for a swiss club for $400,000) Joe Hart - I feel he may not be liked by many here because he plays for 'Man (ager stealers) city' but he makes incredible saves quite often and at 21 is young, although he will come with a hefty fee considering tottenham were/are interested in signing him for 8m. Igor Afinkeev- Again will need a hefty fee, but considered by many as the best young keeeper in europe. At 21 (like Hart) he is young and makes some dazzling saves. I feel at EURO 2008 he did not showcase his talents well but this will probably put other possible suitors off buying him.

Mozzer Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 i personally wouldnt trust joe hart between our sticks..shot stopping he may be good at, but id be worried everytime a set piece was taken with him there-hes too small, and cant command his area yet..
67splitscreen Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Not realistic, but what a keeper. Out untill october with injury. Would also command a hefty fee, but what the hell, it's funny season. Manuel Neuer.
67splitscreen Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Cheap as chips. Have we missed a bargain buy. http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=779206

laughatthedingles Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 So Ince must believe he has sorted the right back problem well that still leaves: Possibly a left back; Potential Targets: Leighten Baines, Paul Konchesky, Mikael Silvestre, Aarmond Troare, Royston Drenthe (Real Madrid - loan). One holding central mdfielder: Potential Targets: Denilson, Diaby, Song (arsenal - loan), Anthony Annan, Tom Huddlestone, Lucas (liverpool - loan), Thiago Motta. Should have targeted: Gilberto Silva and Claude Makelele. One all action central midfielder: Potential Targets: Keith Andrews, Julio Baptista, Didier Zokora, Michael Johnson. Right/Creative Midfielder: Potential Targets: Jermaine Pennant, Aaron Lennon, Michael Kightly, Shaun Wright Philips, Elano, James Milner, Juninho Pernanbuco, Mathias Fernandez, Pedro Marales, Roberto Cereceda, Edgar Barreto, Carlos Paredes. Striker: Potential Targets: Nicola Zigic, Daud Gazale, Alexis Sánchez, Nelsen Cuevas, Oscar Cardozo, Leroy Lita, Higuain (Real Madrid Loan), Roberto Soldado (Real Madrid Loan), Carlos Vela (Arsenal - loan), Nikola Kalinić.
frosty Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 I think you can cross names such as Elano, Matias Fernandez and Juninho Pernambucano off that list - they wouldn't come here!
modes98 Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Tom Huddlestone Carlos Vela (Arsenal - loan) No Chance on Huddlestone, he has been told he is a part of the setup and signed a new contract a month or 2 ago. Vela would be a sensational idea, but i think Mr Wenger has first team ambitions for him.

You like your chileans don't you! Whilst I admire your knowledge majority of those players would not come, nor be allowed to, others have just joined clubs like Udinese and Santos. Some are as untested as Pineapple. Surprised you did not put cabanas in there. Good list though. Out of all of them Kightly is the one, I would like to see us move for.
American Rover12 Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Zhambyl Kukeev or some spell it Kukeyev. Sign him up!
BuckyRover Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Somebody has been playing football manager
LeChuck Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 I think it's more that somebody was watching England on Saturday. Kukeev did look a half decent player, especially as he's only just turned 20, he'd certainly be worth giving a trial to.
BuckyRover Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Sorry, I was referring to 'laughatthedingles'
Hughesy Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 What about this guy as a squad player? Quite useful. Defender Paul Scharner fears for his future with Wigan, claiming he is not "getting on" with manager Steve Bruce. (Daily Mirror)
herbergeehh Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 We're through buying squad players, now we need someone to go straight into the starting eleven - making a few out of the current crop the new squad players. He's a solid player though.
Hughesy Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Just thought that if someone like Ooijer is allowed to leave then he could be an option. Saw a n article in the sundays which suggested both Simpson & Ooijer will be off in January.
Bennisfromheaven Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Saw a n article in the sundays which suggested both Simpson & Ooijer will be off in January. I dont understand, we dont own Simpson!?! ......Sorry, thought you said 'will be offered in January!'
philipl Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 I believe Simpson is on a one year loan and I think the club is negotiating a contract extension with Ooijer which he has indicated he is looking to sign.

In reply to list of players posted by laughatthedingles as possible transfer targets: Why do we need a Left-Back, we have warnock and Olsson? I'm going to leave that one alone as it's quite obvious we wont be looking to fill that position unless Warnock leaves... Central midfield: - Denilson (getting a ton of first team football with Arsenal - No chance!) - Diaby and Song (both competing with Denilson for that place in CM - Not going to happen unless Wenger decides one of them isnt good enough) - Anthony Annan (has only just signed for Rosenborg?) - Tom Huddlestone (in Spuds first team plans - Not going to happen) - Lucas (it's his make or break season with Liverpool so i doubt he will be going out on loan) - Thiago Motta (signed for Genoa recently... Also failed several medicals with some clubs...) Right midfield: - Jermaine Pennant (warming to the idea for the right price - with pools apparent lack of wide players would they let him go now?) - Aaron Lennon (has looked far better then Bentley for Spurs - Signed a new contract recently - Would they sell? If so how much?) - Michael Kightly (looks very good, but is understood to want to stay with Wolves... Likely to be getting promotion at the end of the season with Wolves... How much...?) - Shaun Wright Philips and Elano (never going to happen...) - James Milner (happy at Villa even though he is coming off the bench) - Juninho Pernanbuco (no... just no...) - Mathias Fernandez (could be worth a go with Carlos here... Is struggling to get into the first team with Villarreal...) - Pedro Marales (just signed for Dinamo Zagreb) - Roberto Cereceda (never heard of him...? - Edgar Barreto (would be a excellent signing - A player who can pull his finger out when it matters...) - Carlos Paredes (defensive midfielder isnt he?) Striker: - Nicola Zigic (too expensive for such a average striker) - Daud Gazale (never heard of him!) - Alexis Sánchez (would be a amazing signing - Valued by Udinese at 20 million Euros according to the always correct wiki ) - Nelsen Cuevas (signed for Brazillian team Santos) - Oscar Cardozo (first team player at Benfica and would be unlikely to be sold - Good player though!) - Leroy Lita (has a serious attitude problem apparently - Struggling to break into the Norwich team on loan from Reading... Pass we could do better!) - Higuain (never going to happen!) - Roberto Soldado (never going to happen!) - Carlos Vela (I wish! Probably one of the most exciting youngsters at Arsenal - They wouldnt let him go) - Nikola Kalinić (would be my star choice out of your list - The guy is quality!)
Hughesy Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 I believe Simpson is on a one year loan and I think the club is negotiating a contract extension with Ooijer which he has indicated he is looking to sign. Iv heard a few rumours that suggest they have a call back clause in January if they want to, and that it could very well happen.
LeChuck Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Iv heard a few rumours that suggest they have a call back clause in January if they want to, and that it could very well happen. Rumours where? They have Neville coming back to full fitness, Brown already performing well and Rafael looking like a real prospect when giving the chance. Can't see it myself.
Hughesy Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 From others at ewood, a guy that works up at brockhall, and also the sunday papers also ran the same story. Like I said they may just be rumours but who knows!
