I'm mildly in favour if the wages and fee are right. He may still be able to do a job at Premiership level, and there are off the pitch benefits too as previously mentioned. He could plug the gap until we get a young, hungry right winger.

Not sure all the flunkies will appreciate The Brown Cow though.

snap him up! not only could we use him in the team but imagine the media attention we would get! if it didnt effect the perfomances it could help attract new fans, players & even a new owner!

Could put current fans off too. I'd struggle to go to Ewood if he played for us. He represents all the things I hate about modern day footballers and few of the things I like. He's so slow nowadays he plays behind the right back most of the time, not because he drops back as cover when the full back bombs forward but because he can't keep up with play. He looked ok the other night because the opposition were shattered but I saw him play against the French in Paris and he was nowhere. I know you don't lose the ability to cross or play a dead ball but I'd rather we didn't even consider him and his circus thanks.

He is also still the best crosser of a ball in the world, as has showed from his sub appearances for england this last week. He would be perfect to provide ammo for Roque. Im sure it would also help attract other players and keep the likes of Roque.

Cannot find the MGP thread but there is obviously a story planted by his agent in the Mirror this morning about Fulham, Wigan and Boro tracking him because he is being subbed so often at Rovers.

Nicko's rule of three clubs = BS applies I think.

Whilst I doubt Beckham would come it would be a huge boost at a time where we are dropping off finacially.

Gates are down, I assume merchandising has dropped as well and all we ever get to read in the rags is crap. Our profile would become worldwide, I have always had a soft spot for him he gives his all and plays because he loves it.

Where we not linked during pre-season with him? A loan would be sound and RSC would flourish.

Alas though dreams rarely come true.

Swop for Valencia? Boro wanting to replace Downing? .... Must be Fulham then.

Yeah, but would Posh think Blackburn is fashionable for her David? ;)

Beckham would be a great signing. He's still technically gifted, and his off-field magnetism will work wonders for our ickle club.

What difference does it make:

A) Ince will probably be a bit enticing for Beckham if we made a offer

B) How many players have Man City got to play Right Wing. Not to sure how happy Elano and SWP will be if they bring in Becks

C) It's not like he will be living in Blackburn with Victoria... They will probably be living in Manc like the vast majority of our squad...

D) If Beckham has any hopes of continuing for England, he will have to play games.

E) It couldnt hurt to offer him a deal. He is going to need to learn off a manager to get into management. Hey maybe he could do the coaching badges with Incey and be 'homework buddies'

F) If the board have any real intentions of selling the club, they could do allot worse then to bring Beckham in, which will, face it, bring in a bigger crowd, and make the club look a whole lot more serious to a investor...

G) How many shirts and merchandise would it sell for the club. I would get a Rovers shirt with Beckham on the back, i dont know about anyone else?!

Wouldn't it er, smash our wage structure?

I'd like it as much as the next person, but I don't think we'd gamble with those wages.

To be fair it wouldn't be for a long period and like someone's already mentioned Bentley was offered a contract on a large wage so surely some of that money could pay for his wages. Can't see it happeneing but signing Beckham would be remarkable, would improve our profile ten-fold and would surely increase our attendances and shrit sales. It's not not totally out of the question though with Ince in charge and us being located near Manchester, in addition he'd be guranteed a first team spot here unlike in some of the other Premiership teams.

So Ince must believe he has sorted the right back problem well that still leaves:

Possibly a left back;

Potential Targets: Leighten Baines, Paul Konchesky, Mikael Silvestre, Aarmond Troare, Royston Drenthe (Real Madrid - loan).

One holding central mdfielder:

Potential Targets: Denilson, Diaby, Song (arsenal - loan), Anthony Annan, Tom Huddlestone, Lucas (liverpool - loan), Thiago Motta.

Should have targeted: Gilberto Silva and Claude Makelele.

One all action central midfielder:

Potential Targets: Keith Andrews, Julio Baptista, Didier Zokora, Michael Johnson.

Right/Creative Midfielder:

Potential Targets: Jermaine Pennant, Aaron Lennon, Michael Kightly, Shaun Wright Philips, Elano, James Milner, Juninho Pernanbuco, Mathias Fernandez, Pedro Marales, Roberto Cereceda, Edgar Barreto, Carlos Paredes.

Striker:

Potential Targets: Nicola Zigic, Daud Gazale, Alexis Sánchez, Nelsen Cuevas, Oscar Cardozo, Leroy Lita, Higuain (Real Madrid Loan), Roberto Soldado (Real Madrid Loan), Carlos Vela (Arsenal - loan), Nikola Kalinić.

How do you know the less known Chilean players like Pedro Morales (not Marales ;) ) Daud Gazale and Cereceda? Have you been looking through Chilean newspapers or forums?

Don't bother on Cereceda...he's an average player and the only Chilean International who Chilean fans feel shouldn't belong on the NT.

On a curious note...I have quite a nice story about Daud Gazale. For all those 'underdog story' lovers out there!

------

story:

Daud Gazale was a classmate of mine as a kid (I'm talking about when I was in 4th grade, he was in class A, I was in class B so we frequently played our derby's against each other). At that age you could already see his talent...I was a fullback and he was a winger/striker so he ran circles around me constantly... :P ...his story is quite admirable and very unusual for a S.American football because he came form an accommodated family. We went to one of the private schools in my city (Concepción), an English school actually 'The Wessex School'. Anyway, to go to this school you had to have above average income (high middle class/high class).

Everything was going well for the Gazale family until disaster struck and the family business fell apart. Soon they were bankrupt. They had to sell everything and start from the bottom, this meant he had to move to a public school (in Chile the quality of these is poor at best and if you ever make it to Uni you are probably a genius or something close). I never heard of him again.

Many years passed, I moved to England...then I started hearing rumors about a certain Gazale making noise for newly ascended Deportes Concepción team....I remember thinking...'Where have I heard that name?'...I looked at the team sheet and then I noticed it was the same Gazale from school! His team soon started climbing and making a lot of noise with his wonderful goals.

my favourite:

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=whm_aXb9j5c

It was here when he got the attention of the press and in an interview he confirmed the story about their family loosing everything, how they had to find new ways to cope and how he found in football a way to make a living and bring joy to the family. He also mentioned how his father had passed away a few years ago, no doubt the burden of their financial situation was too much to bear for his father...they must have had a torrid time. Long story short, he caught the eye of Bielsa who called him for a couple of friendlies with Chile's 'B' team. He was then bought by 'Colo-Colo' Chile's biggest club and he's had his first official international appearance against Venezuela, even though it was only for a few minutes. He is now a regular at Colo-Colo.

Needless to say I am very happy for him and wish him the best for his career. Blackburn should buy him...of course I am horribly biased. :P

----

Back on topic. These Chilean players you can forget about.

Alexis Sanchez. Manchester United made a bid for Sanchez before he moved from River to Udinese...around £10mil...but was rejected by Udinese who have placed a clause of around £20mil, apparently they have no intention of selling him since he is playing a part in the great Udinese campaign so far (they are currently leading Serie A).

Mati Fernandez. Even though he is not a regular, he is not for sale. Villarreal knows Pires days are counted...and sooner or later Mati will have to step in. Plus, he's just a taller and faster than Villanueva, but in terms of shooting, dead balls and skill, I don't think there is much of a difference. Plus after his magnificent performance in Chile's 1-0 historic victory over Argentina in the qualifiers his price will only go up. He ran circles around Cambiasso.

Pedro Morales is as slow as Villanueva, not as good in the dribbling department but similar in play making ability and vision, has one heck of shooting accuracy. He currently plays at Dinamo Zagreb were he was bought to replace Croatian play maker Modric. He has satisfied the fans and I don't think they will let him go cheaply just when he's won a starting position in the team.

Put your money on.

Gary 'Pitbull' Medel. I wrote about him on the Villanueva thread. Class player. Very technical for a defensive player. Can play as a Defensive Midfielder, Fullback and even Central Defender if needed. He is short...but Masherano (who is a bit shorter that Medel) is also short and he's done wonderful at Liverpool. Now that Villanueva is gone, Medel is easily the best player in the Chilean league at the moment. A starter in the Chilean NT and one of Bielsa's favorites. Our very own Gatuso.

I would also suggest Orellana (former teammate of Carlos at Audax), who played the match of his life against Argentina, but I don't think Blackburn needs a winger/striker like him at the moment. A Defensive Midfielder with creative flair like Medel could work wonders though...

I know English like to dis the French...so here goes a funny video of a Frenchman surrendering before Medel at the Toulon tournament. :P (Chile won 5-3).

Why dint we go for this guy instead of Carlos, if he has the same skill but taller & faster he sounds perfect!?!

Even though it sounds like only two advantages, you'd be surprised how many more millions that ads to his value.

He sounds brilliant! speed & height are massive advantages in this league but if he is not playing it would have been worth some kind of bid to test the water!

Chileandude, have you any info on Oscar Ahumada, the river plate player we are chasing? you might have heard someting on that side of the pond?
