I think this is a brilliant insight into the mind of Blackburn fans.

There is almost unilateral agreement that we are in dire need of a right midfielder, but David Beckham (one of the most celebrated right midfielders of all time) is not wanted by a lot of our fans??

What the heck is that all about?

He might be a bit old, but he will desperate to impress right up to the WC 2010.

Madness :D

The biggest football superstar of all time?

There speaks a man who's never heard of George Best, or Pele, or Cryuff, or Eusebio, or Beckenbauer, or Puskas, or Matthews, or Finney, or Mannion, or Carter, Shackleton.

And that lot were wonderful footballers ; Beckham is a scuffler by comparison.

Personally I would love to see it happen. It would raise our profile and allow other players to play as, no doubt, teams would tend to concentrate on that area of the pitch a lot more. What would be equally as good is a young Rovers right winger in the youth squad that could be brought up with that kind of talent around to learn from. Never gonna happen though is it?

I didn't say he was the best player of all time.

I said he was the biggest superstar, and I stand by that claim.

I also think that Beckham's range of passing is better than any of those listed above.

To be fair, i dont think many of those players would get into our squad now!

Now if you consider what it would do both commercially, in the public eye, and for Roque's scoring having Becks on right wing, you'd be crazy not to want him at the club (no offence!)

Also, when you consider the likes of Newcastle have apparently around about a dozen interested buyers looking to invest, and see what happened to Man City. You need to realise now is the time that we want to be putting Rovers on the map, and waving a big 'for sale' flag at potential investors...

Having Beckham at the club will make some quarters realise that we mean business, and aren't only here to raise players and then sell them off. The club is trying to go places, and whether you like it or not, having Beckham at the club for a year or 2 would help that!

Also, if it meant keeping his fitness up at one of the best fitness related football clubs in the league, im sure he might take a reasonable wage cut, and would not be on anything more then what we were offering Bentley... How much of that would we get back on merchandise and the inevitable increase in attendences that would come from having Beckham on the pitch. Also consider the increased attention we'd get from places like America, Dubai and China, where Beckham has sponsorship deals etc... Potential investors for the club!

And thereby any pretence of football knowledge goes flying out of the window.

Oh yes please (Beckham)

Not only would we have something pretty to look at in David, but VB would be back in the country and I'd know what the handbag of the season and the style of the season was again.

I guess, you could say that he was the first celebrity footballer who used the media boom to become a mega-rich commercial icon.

In that sense, yes, he is/was a superstar.

And, yeah, I'd have in our team. We can't be choosers. Not that I can imagine him ever wanting to join us ahead of the inevitable "prestigious" clubs that would have their arms out.

Although I would whole-heartedly agree that Brett Emerton (incredible athlete as he is) is not the long term answer on the right wing. However I believe if we look closely at the team that a left sided midfielder is a more pressing target. Pedersen has not produced regularly for a long time now and we should look to replace him, only if the team will benefit however. His hard work and defensive abilities helped Warnock to produce his best form and this has to be a consideration when we look at the possibilities.

Central midfield is another area I believe we need to strengthen. Time will tell whether Grella can cut it, but Tugay cannot be relied upon to produce performances ala Saturday week in week out. Therefore we are left with Andrews who looks ok but his positioning is somewhat questionable to me and Mokoena who Ince does not seem too keen on. Vogel may as well not be included in this list as it would appear he is not anywhere in Ince's plans.

As for a striker, I still believe we should look to see what kind of offers Roberts could attract as he will never score the goals we require.

As for who and what areas we will look to strengthen will ultimately depend upon the price of the players available which I expect will be somewhat inflated. Hopefully Ince will renew his interest in Ireland, although that now looks to be dead in the water as he has been Man City's shining light recently.

I haven't seen this posted anywhere else on the forum or by other sources on the net, so it could just be BS. According to Setanta we are looking to bring a player called Ahmed Al-Muhamadi on a five day trial:

http://sport.setanta.com/en/Sport/News/Foo...Muhamadi-trial/

"Blackburn Rovers have requested a five-day trial for Egypt international Ahmed Al-Muhamadi.

The request was received by Al-Muhamadi’s Egyptian employers ENPPI and is with a view to tabling a possible bid for the versatile 21-year-old.

ENPPI confirmed they would consider the proposal after Tuesday’s match against Zamalek.

Al-Muhamadi, who plays as a right back for the national team but is deployed wide on the right by his club, was the subject of interest from Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin in the summer.

The deal foundered however when the German side failed to match the ENPPI’s valuation of the player.

After the sale of David Bentley in the summer, Paul Ince is in the market for a new right-sided midfielder, the impressive form of Australian Brett Emerton notwithstanding."

Youtube video of the player (i believe its the player in question but could be wrong):

Oh I don't know, Fowler gets a game.

Misfud is playing on the left for Coventry. Perhaps he could add a bit of something to our team. We need a goalscoring winger.

No thanks- I was left wondering what an earth had happened to the scourge of Rovers and Man U when I saw him last.
