dr_awol Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 However, I've bigger doubts about our Plan B for life without RSC - even if he shakes off the 3 factors mentioned previously, we're simply over-reliant on him - and he's not getting the service either. i dont think we should ever look to sell our best players, but we have proved for the most part that we have managed to replace our better players with just as good players over the past 15 years. life without cruz would not be as good for a season r 2, but there will always be someone who whats take his place in the rovers team.

Whilst agreeing that Roque's 2nd season has been nothing like his 1st, I am rather reluctant to presume that Ince will be able to effectively replace him. We also had a great deal of difficulty replacing Shearer and Duff, who were our 2 biggest sales in the last 15 years.
DingleBaiter Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 i dont think we should ever look to sell our best players, but we have proved for the most part that we have managed to replace our better players with just as good players over the past 15 years. life without cruz would not be as good for a season r 2, but there will always be someone who whats take his place in the rovers team. I'm not advocating selling RSC, just 'throwing it out there' - the point being that at the moment, RSC is only our best player in theory until he/they sort out whatever they have to. Keith Andrews arguably would probably be the last name on most fans's list of best players at the club just now, but he's possibly the one playing nearest to (or above) his potential/ability.
JAL Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 I'm actually wondering is if we could cash in RSC on a pre-contract agreement (as on the continent) to City right now, and cut our losses. Could be squeaky bam time, and perhaps another case of losing 18million down the sofa somewhere, but I'm beginning to have doubts on RSC for this season. Maybe it's his injuries coming home to roost, maybe it's his lack of form, maybe it's all the off-field tripe. However, I've bigger doubts about our Plan B for life without RSC - even if he shakes off the 3 factors mentioned previously, we're simply over-reliant on him - and he's not getting the service either. Is Ashley Ward still 'playing'? What about Duncan Shearer? What about Grabbi? Kaba Diawara? Now there's a forward line of 4 players that would strike fear and worry into folk - problem is, it would be our own fans. I think the Rovers crowd would definitely take Sturridge to replace Jason Roberts and many of the older fans possibly MaCarthy aswell but not for Roque. The PR of the club comes into focus once again after shouting that Roque was or isnt for sale when its been alledged that a deal was being done with City. We wait and see for the 'guvenor' to inspire us all come January
T4E Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Whole article seems a tad strange... Redknapp is also keen on Blackburn Rovers' skipper and defender Ryan Nelsen but Rovers would want about £4m. He liked Nelsen when he was at Pompey but he signed a new deal with us instead. If we could get that money now we most definitely should.
Billy Castell Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 If RSC was to move, I'd play hard ball and demand at least £15m and Sturridge. That would be the lowest I'd go. Then I'd offer Roberts plus £4m for Kightley. We would need another striker though. I'll work on that bit. £4m for Nelsen would be tempting, but he would offer leadership to Spurs, which may help them psychologically. We would need to find another strong, leading centre back as well.
roverfanuk Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 I was all against us signing Andrews when we were linked with him, but i have to eat my words now. He has been arguably our most consistent midfielder as yet... I would say though, how anyone can think about getting rid of Andrews now, and allow Reid to stay is baffling. I know Reid has had a bad time of it, but it needs to be worked out how much it will cost the club to keep him at the club compared to games played!
Hughesy Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Spurs want Nelsen? No suprise there then! £7m+ is a minimum id say. £4m is nothing in todays market. City want Roque? No suprise - Tough!! If we were to sell him then I agree we should get sturridge as part of the deal, and also Nedum onuoha. Maybe even Benjani? Knightly is impressuve every week - he could very well be the next big signing from the championship for someone - just who though? Who is this Chile winger?
Majiball Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Who is this Chile winger? There was quite a lot of noise about him a while back, tricky little bugger not doing so well at udinese, he's been on loan twice. However in argentina at the moment he is flying came out on top of the player supporters most want to watch ahead of Riquelma (Boca, Sp). He's only 20!! I.S.N.O. (Inces Scouting Network Online)
Bennisfromheaven Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Looks amazing but would he get away with half of that stuff with premier league defences! And, will he be willing to do the dirty work of tracking back etc. Does look quite interesting though!
Mafioso Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Most of these videos show the same 4 dribbles over and over. Carlos and Brett perform 4 dribbles in every half.
Hughesy Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Rovers interested in Dean Windass Rovers Admit Windass Interest
Bennisfromheaven Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Nearly gave me a heart attack, you b*s*a*!!!!!!
dopper69 Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Rovers interested in Dean Windass Rovers Admit Windass Interest Jesus, I was ready to go on an office rage then!
Hughesy Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 I was actually surprised it wasn't us. No suprise there then
RibbleValleyRover Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Its a shame he would never come to us, but it looks like he may be available in January or the summer: http://www.sportinglife.com/football/overs...ern_Munich.html
RoverRich Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 I was disappointed - a Fowler and Windass strike force could have been deadly As for Podolski, he strikes me as the kind of player who could well end up at Citeh but a cheeky bid from us IF we were to lose Santa wouldn't go amiss.

I'd say he looks far more of a Spurs player, he's the kind of 'second striker' type they are looking for. I think he's too similar to Robinho for Citeh, the kind of supporting striker who likes to be slightly left of centre. I think Hughes will want (for the want of a better example...) a Santa Cruz type centre forward that can link the rest of their forwards and wingers together.

I just thought big money but not really in the attention of the big 4 so went for Citeh but thinking about it and after your point I think Spurs would be more appropriate for him. Will have to see whether 'Arry goes for him or if he prefers Defoe and Crouch again.
thenodrog Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Can't make up my mind which letter is wrong
Fraserkirky Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Podolski !! Yes please. How much would he be 10-12m? I want that Sanchez (wonderkid) as well! If we sell Roque, dont see us selling him for under 17million. Reckon we should take the money for Nelson 5million seems fair. Whatever happened with Appiah, was ince interested?
RoverRich Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Whatever happened with Appiah, was ince interested? Ince was interested but put off by his wage demands as were a lot of other clubs. Don't know what has happened to him since but haven't heard of him joining any club so could still be a free agent.
chileandude Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Time for the resident Chilean to make an appearance. No way Udinese are selling Sanchez just yet (they have rejected bids from ManU and Juventus)...he scored this gem this past weekend: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=sYHv4CwQcQQ Someone asked if Sanchez does the dirty work? Hell yes! In fact, he does this too often! Sanchez vs Napoli: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=rzyetvbUIaI He should worry more about scoring which is his weak point. They are not letting him go for less than £10 million...which is too much for Blackburn at the moment. ----- But you guys are lucky to have a Chilean in the forum, I can tell you about the other players that are just as good and only 1/5 of the price! One of these is a Defensive Mid, Chilean international Gary Medel. I've talked about him before in the Villanueva thread so I won't bother repeating myself...I have no idea about his price but he must be around £2 million...maybe less. If you like Alexis then the best buy would be Fabian Orellana. The MOM in the Chile v Argentina game. He is a bit older than Alexis, but still young...there is a nice debate going on about who should be the starting winger for Chile. Sanchez(20) or Orellana(22). The good news? He is only £2.5 million! (At least that's what an unknown French club put on the table) The best news? Like Villanueva, he is an Audax Italiano player! He could be the winger Blackburn are missing. If Blackburn play it smart they might try and negotiate a price for both players...say £7 million for both Carlos Villanueva and Fabian Orellana to complete the nice Audax package for both of their talismans. Both players know each other by memory, they are both very talented and unlike Pinapple, Orellana is fast! He can also play as a winger or striker. I say go for the Audax package and get the Villanueva + Orellana combo. Creative Mid + Winger in one swoop! ORDER NOW!
chileandude Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 I'm looking for vids of Orellana but most of them are crap quality. I found this summary of the U23 Toulon tournament which featured both Villanueva (n15) and Orellana (n14). Chile 2-0 Holland (Orellana with an assist and a goal) = http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=egLVmQUOaxs The goal that shot him to fame in Chile: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=T77UO4qiz4Y
