Owen's been at Newcastle for over three years and made only 50 apps. That's not good enough for a player earning £100,000+ a week from the fans' pockets.

I suppose you can call Mike Ashley a fan.

Man City lining up a bid for Nigerian defender Taiwo (Daily Mail)

They do very good tea!

Seriously though, i really dont think its a good idea to sell Warnock, even more so then Roque. Warnock is easily our most important player bar Roque...

I doubt there's anything in that. Warnock's playing well and getting recognised, therefore he's an instant link to Sparky's new club.

I'm not so sure, Hughes has been playing Micah Richards at left back for the last two games (much to the discontent of fans and local papers) so he'll obviously be looking at someone for that position long-term.

The only question would be whether he (and the owners) consider Warnock to be a good enough signing.

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes is lining up a bid for Blackburn defender Stephen Warnock. (Daily Mirror)

Manchester City defender Nedum Onouha could be used as part of the deal that brings Warnock to the club. (Daily Mirror)

If it happens its another damaging move for the club.

Ince needs to offload the non productive personnel in the squad.

So Man City, who can go after any player they want...

Want Warnock?

It's paper crap all over again.

Although I'm sceptical of the Warnock deal, there could be a difference between who Hughes wants and who Man.City want, if you get me.

I don't know why people are so offended by Hughes wanting our players. He wants to do the best at City, and you can't blame him if he wants to resign some of his assets. So long as we tell him to get stuffed or get them to pay over the odds, there isn't a problem.

I wouldn't say no to the guy from City though...Onohuo....he's very pacey and england u21...could be a good acquisition for rovers.

Agreed. He looks quality.

Going on the performances this season (+ last season) and injuries wise, what categories do our players fit into? Im putting down 4 and saying what i think. Im not going into the finances of the club and how much we have to buy and spend:

Should not go:

- Andre Ooijer - Should be given a new deal. Has looked far more solid then other 2 CB's...

- Paul Robinson - Has had some excellent performances but let down by poor Central defence and RB...

- Stephen Warnock - Has been the better of our defenders, however been played out of formation...

- Tugay - Still plodding on at the ripe old age of 74... How much longer can his steam powered engine keep going?!

- Brett Emerton - Has been very good on occasion at RM, but should not be our full-time RM after January!

- David Dunn - I dont get why manager after manager keeps allowing our midfield to fall into the same injury shocked stance each year. We all know Dunny and Reid have long term injuries. Thank god for Keith Andrews thats all i can say!

- Roque Santa Cruz - Has had to deal with injuries this term, but their is no doubting he is still one of the most leathal finishers in the league!

- Zurab - Don't know why Samba and Nelsen keep getting selected ahead of him. After their last 6 performances, it couldnt do any more damage to try something a little different...

- Keith Andrews - Has quite frankly been a godsend since his arrival. Yes i was one of the ones who slated Ince for even thinking about bringing him to Ewood. I was wrong!

- Carlos - Has had to get used to the pace of the English game, and their is no doubting he will become a quality midfielder one day. Should sign long-term!

- Keith Treacy - Not quite sure whether he should be in the 1st team as yet, but due to Gamst annual forgetting of being a footballer he has been chucked in at the deepend. Has been good in some and non existent in others...

- Matt Derbyshire - Has been played out of position quite a bit, but their is no doubting he could be a England regular one day if he gets his head down!

- Martin Olsson - Has had some stinkers of late, scored very good goal against the Toffees, but is struggling IMO at the moment... Warnock needs to go back to LB after January!

- Jason Roberts - Scored some very important goals early season, and gets allot of grief be it deserve or not. He is important to our squad!

- Jason Brown - Was superb against Manure when Robinson was out, and continues to be a very good backup!

Should be very wary of future due to poor displays/shouldnt be in starting XI:

- Chris Samba - Yes most of us have a soft spot for him, but he has been directly responsible for conceeding 4 goals + this season...

- Ryan Nelsen - Continues to worry me. Doesnt jump for balls as much as he should do and seems a bit hesitant to put in timely tackles. Steps back and allows opposition in on occasion... If Spurs come in for him in the window id bite their hands off to sell him and give the Captains armband to Brett...

- Benni - Has had 2 good games, somewhat unfairly slapped in the face when sent off. Still worries me that he can stall and go missing for large parts of the season. Only time will tell whether he can get back to his 1st seasons form...

- Aaron Mokoena - Has been absent, not quite sure why? Instead of putting Warnock at CM and Olsson at LB, i dont get why he doesnt get given a chance...

Should be shown the door:

- Morten Gamst Pedersen - Has been quite frankly dreadfull for nearly 2 years now. Enoughs enough! Should be looking for 'replacement'...

- Johann Vogel - Not quite sure why he was forced out the team by Ince, but his words in the media the other week have brought him a one way ticket away from the club...

- Steven Reid - Im sorry, you wont get anyone more then me who wanted Reid to come back to his former glory. But he wasnt the same after coming back from injury and the club needs to realise their is no point in shelling out £20 odd thousand a week for him to sit on the operating table... It's time to say goodbye surely!

- Danny Simpson - Has disappointed and IMO been way too vocal way too regularly about his desire to play for Manure during his loan spell... For me, if a longterm option for RB comes to be in January, we should wave goodbye to Danny!

- Robbie Fowler - Apart from one good 1-2 with Olsson vs Everton, he has been desperately lacking. How he can get a starting place upfront ahead of Benni, Derbs or Roberts is beyhond me!

Court is out:

- Vince Grella - Has had a injury fair doo's. had one poor game, one excellent game and one average game. We will see...

- Mark Bunn - Wonder if he is happy with being the No.3 goalkeeper at the club?

As for January. I still think we need a CB, RB and RM... A striker on loan couldnt hurt either!

Agree with you ref Hughes' targets possibly not matching his owners, especially if he's still going to get players thrust upon him like Robinho, Jo, Ben Haim etc.

I'm not offended by Hughes wanting some of our players, it's to be expected. What I think leaves a sour taste is the extent he's approached players that I'm sure he won't want them all, and one has to questions his motives.

There's a difference in him approaching players to assess feasibility of them wanting to move, another thing altogether to tell them he's going to bring them to City. Especially as I think - like you - that the Ay-rabs will be less than enamoured if he brings a list of players that aren't in their fantasy 11.

However, I trust the board to do the right thing and recoup some decent dinero for them if they want to go. Perhaps we should let them have Warnock on the agreement their whole Academy set-up decamps to Rovers.

That is the funniest, got to agree. Out of the players in the world, they see Warnock as the kind of quality to push them up the table. Good kid but laughable.

We are linked with Tresor Mputu.

A striker who is supposedly described as being better than Etoo by a former manager who managed both at similar ages.

He is valued at 4 million and thats why Arsenal had passed up the chance to sign him, and we are taking him in for a trial.

He had a trial with Olympiakos but no deal materialized, and I wonder why...

Case of over-hyping someone maybe?

Yep taken from here....

Congo striker Tresor Mputu will fly to England next week for a trial with Blackburn after Arsenal's interest ended when they refused to pay the £4m asking price. (The Sun)

thanks for the wiki link sent off in second gane of ANC for fighting, just what we need.

at least he will have that fighting sprit then allready!, it's good to see in the press for once a player actually coming to Rovers, even though its only for a trial at this stage.

Well, there have been a lot of people worried that we were going a bit soft.

Even though we are still at the top of the fouls league (aided and abetted by referees such as last Saturday's)

Perhaps UEFA could add some spice to the fair play league. All the worst offenders could be entered into a cup competition, no ref's perhaps in a cage and then see what happens.
