RevidgeBlue Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 If you genuinely have a line to the board or the Trustees then tell us so. No need to go into detail. He hasn't got one. After making himself look like a complete prat by writing Ince off before he even got here , he is desperately trying to justify his initial opposition by undermining Ince at every chance he can get. Whilst citing non existent anonymous sources in an equally desperate attempt to try and give his inane ramblings some shred of credibility.

bubblerrovers Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 The papers today saying MH will have unlimited funds for Transfers in January, Can't help but worry about RSC, if he can get a run together coming up to xmas i can't see us holding on to him.
CrazyIvan Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Has anyone seen much of Chris Eagles? He's always getting mentioned in the same breath as Burnley and, since he plays as a right winger, I wondered what people think of him? 7 appearances and 4 goals seems like a good return for a right winger. Thoughts anyone?

Well, we could learn to say no. Relegation costs a fortune and if we don't come back up it goes on costing a fortune so unless the deal they offer covers financial losses for the next however many years which of course it won't we can only say no in whatever terms we need to and keep on saying it.
Amo Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 We have two problems: Ince is not fussed about losing the guts of the team he inherited from Hughes and so we are going to be a soft touch for raiding clubs looking for proven Premiership players to bolster their starting squads in January. I'm gonna have to disagree there, Phil. Ince has been adamant about keeping his best players, which is why Santa Cruz has signed a new contract and he told Newcastle to do one over Warnock. I also believe he genuinely wanted to keep Bentley, and his only mistake there was letting him go before we had a replacement within scope.
chileandude Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Hughesy, have you passed on chileandude's scouting reports to the chief yet? Would be interesting to see what they say. Would be funny if, in a month or so, there were reports of Blackburn making a move for Orellana. It would be great to see Orellana at Blackburn, he may be slim like Villanueva but he is fast and skilled, very similar to Alexis Sanchez only a couple of years older, so he would have a good resale value (specially if Chile make it to the World Cup). It would be the winger Blackburn are missing. His crosses are pretty decent, as well as his passing game. Then theres the bonus that he knows Villanueva inside out so it would be interesting to see Villanueva behind Roque with Orellana opening the defenders out wide and providing a valid option if Roque is too marked. Orellana is also a hard worker, he will follow the opposing Fullback all the way if necessary, he did a pretty good job against Heinze. In that sense his defensive work is better than the pineapple. He is a winger and a striker but he likes to drop a bit and suppress the other teams defenders or fullbacks as they push up. I would be shocked to say the least if my reports resulted in Orellana making it to the Premiership.
gazsimm Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Is pennant injured for Liverpool?? He was not playing last night i see.
47er Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Is pennant injured for Liverpool?? He was not playing last night i see. I really hope we no longer have an interest in him. Elsewhere on the board there's a discussion about the folly or otherwise about paying big money for Grella at 29 on the basis that we'll never see that money again. The same applies in buckets to Pennant who isn't very good anyway.
chileandude Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 I have seen Pennant play and Orellana is just as good if not better, he is also younger and faster. The only thing Pennant has over Orellana is his body strength and that he is already adjusted to the Premiership. I bet that because of this he is also A LOT cheaper.
Hughesy Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Pennant could come for free in summer. Worth a move in January with a low bid? Clause in his contract
AussieinUk Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Pennant could come for free in summer. Worth a move in January with a low bid? Clause in his contract Nice find Hughesy. Although the thought of having Pennant in the team back in the summer, didn't really agree with me.. I wouldn't mind him coming in January (as long as the fee was low) Having said that I would still like to stick with me 1st choice RM and go for Kightly. Shuffle the pack and move Emu to RB and bring in the either Pennant/Kightly to RM. Team would defin look a lot more balanced

Shuffle the pack and move Emu to RB and bring in the either Pennant/Kightly to RM. Team would defin look a lot more balanced Kightly recently signed a new contract, would cost a fortune and might not fancy a transfer to us anyway if we are going in the wrong direction and it looks like his current club might be coming up. And Pennant - no thanks. Just hope our scouts can find us someone better than him.
philipl Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 The Guardian's view on the Pennant situation with Rovers linked again. Apparently Bolton are going to bid £3.5m in January and Wigan would move for Pennant if they lose Valencia.
Hughesy Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Also the papers are saying the reason he didnt sign for Stoke was that he wouldnt back down from his 50k a week demands. Surely we wouldnt pay him that?
Majiball Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Its just Pool trying to stir up sales, since Rafa has no dollar. I'm not keen on Pennant at all, given the cash he would want. Christ even on 50K over three years that comes to 7.8M and then there's the fee, Kightly is the better option. Not only would he fit in better with our wage structure, but given he's pretty much carrying wolves, looks the better prospect.
philipl Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Also the papers are saying the reason he didnt sign for Stoke was that he wouldnt back down from his 50k a week demands. Surely we wouldnt pay him that? Pennant presumably believes that because he can go for free in the summer, he is due a big raise on the £50k per week. I'll be surprised if the current reality of the football world has connected with either his or is agent's consciousness in time for him to make a move this January.
47er Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Also the papers are saying the reason he didnt sign for Stoke was that he wouldnt back down from his 50k a week demands. Surely we wouldnt pay him that? I don't think we would. Failure to agree terms was said by Nicko to be the reason he didn't sign for us. Apparently everything else had been agreed with Liverpool. I just don't take to him, I doubt he would be a good influence in the dressing room for a start.

He's always getting mentioned in the same breath as Burnley and, since he plays as a right winger, I wondered what people think of him? 7 appearances and 4 goals seems like a good return for a right winger. Thoughts anyone? Always thought he was a good player. It seems bizarre that Ferguson is so infatuated with Darren Fletcher and yet gave Eagles short shrift. Anything to do with nationality... Or, is it something to do with the fact that Eagles is notorious for having a bad attitude - at least on the pitch. He was a bit of a Sergio Big Boots Peter and liked committing terrible challenges, if I remember rightly from the early reports. He's doing well at Burnely but I wonder if he'll fizzle out like Luke Chadwick.
dring1 Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 i dont think pennent will offer much more than emerton at right midfield to be honest. i think we should be going for some one better who will improve the squad.
den Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Always thought he was a good player. It seems bizarre that Ferguson is so infatuated with Darren Fletcher and yet gave Eagles short shrift. Anything to do with nationality... No. It's to do with Darren Fletcher being a top class player and Eagles not.
Sparky Marky Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 i dont think pennent will offer much more than emerton at right midfield to be honest. i think we should be going for some one better who will improve the squad. You're saying that having Pennant on the right wing wouldn't improve us???? Emerton isn't a winger. It would have been ideal for Pennant against chelsea....he'd have given Wayne Bridge a proper game.
Hughesy Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Pennant has pace, something we lack, he can also beat a man, and also isnt afraid to put his foot in. I think he could be a very good signing if playing regular.

It would have been ideal for Pennant against chelsea....he'd have given Wayne Bridge a proper game. he would have helped with the injurys at the moment but when emerton is fit i dont think he offers anything different. plus brett has been playing very well their but he isnt long term and i think we should go for some one better than pennent other wise stay clear.
Hughesy Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 You got any ideas who then? Because for a sensible price, there seems a lack of right wingers knocking around.
dring1 Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 You got any ideas who then? Because for a sensible price, there seems a lack of right wingers knocking around. knightly seems to be the best option along with that chillian some one mentioned but your right there is a lack of wingers available but i dont think we should be splashing money for the sake of it. pennent had his chance to join rovers but wanted mega wages so im saying stay well clear.
