Andrews was one of the only players in our team looking to keep the ball on the floor yesterday. He's done well considering the big step up.

I wish PI had listened to me and signed Cisse in the summer, if we had doubt we would be in this mess now.

Agree Elano should be our number 1 target in January.

Simpson should be told to "Beat it",and a replacement found.

Rumours in Scotland that we are set to sign Steven Fletcher from Hibs in January.

1.5-3 Million.

I've seen him more times than you then, eh, Jal?

He has shown enough, in my opinion, to justify a SQUAD place, in case of emergencies. We have injury prone Reid constantly out and Andrews is good cover.

Someone I know well hated Andrews and joined in booing him when he came on and other stupid things, but he said he was actually surprised at how well he handled himself and especially his control and passing.

I think he's good enough for a squad place, as cover.

Anti-Dingle-Brigade we dont need MORE squad players, we need first teamers who can strut their stuff against the best in this league. Fully see were your coming from and thats obviously why we differ so much but I want to see quality, the kids coming through can make up the squad numbers.

The thread is titled "realistic summer moves". Since we don't know what division we'll be playing in perhaps we should abandon it. Andrews could be our star player and captain.

Central midfield was a weak point for us for a long time, even during the good times under Hughes because:

1) We never had 2 players who would be automatic first choices,

2) We had players performing well for a game or 2 and then would be dropped because of injury (Dunn) or bad form (Reid) or fatigue (Tugay)

Even under Hughes, I felt we needed at least one central midfield box to box player who would have the ability to be first choice in 38 games; someone like Parker, Reo Coker, Barry, Mendes.

Savage came the closest but injuries got the better of him.

I get the impression that unlike a stupid David Bentley, Kightley appreciates the value of building himself with the club where he is at.

A Wolves perspective has got to be that yes, he might command £6m to £8m now but if he does his stuff in the Prem next season, that would leap to £16m to £18m.

Thats a daft post. If Kightly proves himself in thePL over a season or two, becomes a regular on the England scene and valued as Bentley was he will be off like a shot.

Bentley's move was the right time for his career, the only drawback from his point of view was that CL teams were not falling over themselves to sign him as he / his agent seemed to expect. Spurs must have been his 1st stand-by option.

I wonder if Wolves would be interested in Gally?

I imagine if they were they would have signed him. We've hardly been hanging on to him have we and they must represent a better option career wise than Plymouth.

I am quite a fan of Mendes.. Closet player IMO, to the talents of our Tugay.

Elano benched again by Man City today.

Should definately be a transfer target in January!

Hardly the man most suited for a relegation scrap imo.

Can't see Hughes letting us buy any of his squad unless we deal with Roque.

If he does Sturridge hasn't signed a contract yet-could be worth replacing Roberts?

38 games from parker? you'd be lucky!

Well Elano is being linked to high flying QPR in this mornings papers... Would like to think, if they can sign him, we'd give it a go too...

Our midfield would certainly have more pace and viciousness in it if we signed him...

Come on guys, Elano is one of the best midfielders in the Premier league. A playr of his creativity and vision is a real rarity these days and usually only a luxury the big clubs can afford. There is just no way that a) he would want to come to us or B) that we could afford him.

Shame we're too late. He oozes class, just like Tugay.

Mendes would have be excellent for us.

Talented player who would fit in well with the type of football Ince is trying to get us to play

Imagine this as a formation for after January:

---------------Robinson---------------

Emerton--Ooijer--Onuoha--Warnock

Kightly--Elano---Grella/Dunn--Gamst

-------------------Carlos----------------

----------Cruz---------------------------

if we were to get Onuoha and Elana, i don't think we will still have Rocky at Rovers!!

Elano is unhappy at Man City (benched and under-used) and so is Onuoha (will always be second to Richards and co.)

I think we could tempt Man City with a decent offer for the two without including Cruz...

i think city will only play ball with us as long as they can sign Cruz.

Elano is a nice footballer but not the sort of player Rovers want in a relegation scrap in an English winter. Onouha is decent and probably a better right back than Simpson but is he really a step up on our centre halves ? Not many young centre halves have the level of consistency needed to play that position. One mistake and usually it's a goal as we are finding out.

Two players I would have gone for in midfield ( and I said so at the time) were Lee Cattermole who's now at Wigan and George Boateng who's keeping Hull in contention. We had to have Grella instead.

Kightly would be my priority, but he won't leave Wolves until the summer at least, he is trying to get them promoted.

Right winger, or Right Back should be top priority with Left wing a pretty daunting one too.

We might as well get a try before we buy loan with someone like we did with Carlos, but for up front, and see if we can stumble on a gem.

I've got this feeling that when Benni is back we'll see a different Rovers.
