roverfanuk Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Kightly would be my priority, but he won't leave Wolves until the summer at least, he is trying to get them promoted. Right winger, or Right Back should be top priority with Left wing a pretty daunting one too. We might as well get a try before we buy loan with someone like we did with Carlos, but for up front, and see if we can stumble on a gem. I've got this feeling that when Benni is back we'll see a different Rovers. Were only allowed one more loan this season i believe, and thats only on condition that we allow either Carlos or Simpson to return from their loan...

AJW Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 i am sorry ive been away , when did we decide simpson was crap and needed replacing in january , i understood we had him on loan for rest of season , and that he wanted first team football ( which he is getting) and that with a limited budget in january i would of thought another right back was not going to be priority when quite clearly midfield is .......(again)!

I don't understand how you can say in one breath Kightly would be your priority, and with the next breath there's no chance of him leaving until summer ! Do you think we can wait until summer ? I don't. What makes you think Benni's going to be more interested now than he has been previously ?

After Paul Ince decided he was Brazilian and at about 4.50pm on Saturday after the crowd had witnessed the second half of the Sunderland game.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 I don't understand how you can say in one breath Kightly would be your priority, and with the next breath there's no chance of him leaving until summer ! Do you think we can wait until summer ? I don't. What makes you think Benni's going to be more interested now than he has been previously ? Aye that came out wrong. I would make a bid or 3 for Kightly, but even if a bid was accepted I don't think he would want to leave. If this is the case, we need to have a plan B ready. I'm not sure about Benni. He said to my friend he was here to stay now a few months ago and he seems to put in more effort than he did when he was obviously not trying. I think he has some hunger back. He has been trying really hard to play whenever he can, I think he wanted to play against Sunderland in the Cup but Ince told him to go to his father when he was ill? I'm not sure. I just have a feeling. Benni running his socks off instead of walking around combined with his usual skill can be phenomenal.
John Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Report looks like pure speculation: Norwegian newspaper VG reports today that Norwegian international John Arne Riise could be ready to quit Roma to save his career. Blackburn has Riise's close friend Morten Gamst Pedersen in the team and with fellow international Tore Reginiussen also on the way in, it could be a possibillity to move to Ewood Park.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Hmm Riise. Shame he can't play right back. He'd certainly be useful to have around though.
Amo Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Bring in Riise and oust MGP. All's fair in love and war.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Aye that came out wrong. I would make a bid or 3 for Kightly, but even if a bid was accepted I don't think he would want to leave. I agree with you about Benni from the two bit parts he's played recently he seems to have the bit between his teeth again, lets hope the recent bereavement hasn't blown him off course.
philipl Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Plenty of speculation linking Jason Brown to a loan move out of Ewood in January. If we are replacing Brown with Gueret, I will simply despair. Ince has had half a season to get the hang of the modern Premier League game and we are still looking at Macclesfield's centre forward and MK Dons' goalkeeper. Roy Keane has spent £70m on players at Sunderland, many of whom are scarcely better than Coca Cola level. What is it with Man U's former hardmen that they are shrinking violets when it comes to signing proper Premier League players? Do they have a hidden inferiority complex or something which means as Managers they cannot hack it with top players?
CrazyIvan Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Ince has had half a season to get the hang of the modern Premier League game and we are still looking at Macclesfield's centre forward and MK Dons' goalkeeper. There you go again. Well done, you are very talented at reading the dodgy websites and believing what they say aren't you? Former clubs, former players and the press love to spread rumours. Oh yeah, when did we arrive at the half way stage in this season as well? 13 games into a 38 game season?
bellamy11 Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Ince has had half a season to get the hang of the modern Premier League game and we are still looking at Macclesfield's centre forward Link? Or does this come from your insider?
philipl Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Link? Or does this come from your insider? Nicko said the Mac forward is apparently training with Rovers with a view to something happening in January about three weeks ago. In the absence of a working search engine, you are either going to have to find the post yourself (there were about ten items he covered; it's the most recent detailed post from him if I remember correctly) or take it on trust.

This post? http://www.brfcs.co.uk/mb/index.php?showto...;p=687591 *If* that's true and we do sign Macclesfield's centre forward in January then I think we will officially be a laughing stock.
G Somerset Rover Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 CrazyIvan I don't think anybody needs reminding of the whole Andrews 'will he wont he' deal. Nobody believed Nicko, and we did indeed sign him. Now regardless of the debate as to whether Andrew's is actually good enough, chances are that Ince is more than likely to go after more of his old staff.

rover6 Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 The Macc forward would be for our reserves, so I do not see what is so despicable about the prospect of him signing. It's not as if he'd be thrown straight into first team contention.

philipl Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Rovers being linked with a January move for 6ft 5in Salzburg striker Marc Janko- leading scorer in Austria.
joey_big_nose Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Rovers being linked with a January move for 6ft 5in Salzburg striker Marc Janko- leading scorer in Austria. Very good scoring record, decent for the national team too. At 25 the right sort of age. It is hard to predict where we will be signing players in January. You could make an argument for every position on the pitch bar goalkeeper imo. One of the players brought in has to play on the right wing though.
Hughesy Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 He would be a good signing if we could also bag a good crosser of the ball.
G Somerset Rover Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Agreed that we need a couple of players with a decent cross on them and that's one of the reasons why we're not scoring nearly as many. But Santa Cruz is easily good enough in the air - we don't need to get a huge target man in. We need some pace up top, in the mould of Bellamy who was always willing to get behind defences and run the channels. Whether the board will fund any kind of move for a pacey striker is a completely different matter, especially with Roberts being given a new 3-year deal.

rover6 Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Scott Sinclair being mooted for January move to various clubs - probably on loan. A realistic transfer move? I'm not sure how good he is except that he is hyped but wasn't exactly outstanding whilst on loan duty.
