roverfanuk Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Lets not forget Gueret is nearly 36, just seems silly seeing as he has never really peaked. He has spent the majority of his seasons below leagues. I even think Millwall got rid because of several howlers that he made! Nicko, must ask. Is this Jenko chappy being lined up as a replacement for Roque, or is he being lined up regardless maybe as Roque's strikepartner?

I don't think he is a direct replacement because he is a different type of player, but if Roque did go he would be a reasonable striker to bring in - because of his number of goals and size. It seems to be a serious interest, so if he is lined up to come somebody would probably be leaving...in an ideal world that would NOT be Roque.

In an ideal world, he would be a replacement for Fowler. With Roberts just being given a new deal, that leaves Benni and Derbs...? Edit: Have just created Nicko's January Transfer Window Topic if anyones interested?
John Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Nicko - what are the board making of Inces' start at BRFC?
broadsword Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 A broach, a nice summer bonnet, a pterodactyl ... :-)
T4E Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 i just can't help the gut feeling at the moment that if this ar5e is given enough time he will ruin my club. I've had that feeling for some time Bryan, if I remember correctly you and I fell out over it.
broadsword Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I never fall out with anyone! Ha! http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/200...15875-20731144/

Fraserkirky Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Are we in the hunt for Appiah?????? If we are not, we bloody well should be. So Newcastle want Warnock then, any chance of a swap deal for Owen?
67splitscreen Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 If we sign the 18 year old kid from Macc Town, what is the differance between signing Matty, from Gt harwood Town?.
Bobby G Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Roque desperate to leave to Man City according to The Guardian. And Janko is the most injury-prone player according to my Austrian-league following friend.
philipl Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Santa Cruz wants out- Guardian We had to be in with a shout of Europe to be in with any chance of keeping him. All this bs about rebuilding and a season of transition simply wasn't a viable option or a luxury we could afford. Axe on his way out if Tribal is to be believed.
Hughesy Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Roque desperate to leave to Man City according to The Guardian. And Janko is the most injury-prone player according to my Austrian-league following friend. So was Roque prior to coming here, as was Bellamy and many others. Unless he has a serious underlying injury (which the physio would find) then we have nothing to worry about.

Unless he has a serious underlying injury (which the physio would find) then we have nothing to worry about. I think this season has proved beyond doubt that the great medical staff we have has to be balanced with a training regime balanced to suit each player- ie to nurse the injured ones and devise a training routine to suit each of them individually. Without that (scientific methods, training routines thought through) we have a load of injury-prone players who are always injured. As we do now. Therfore under Hughes I'd say you are right. Under Ince- stay well clear.
bubblerrovers Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 If well sell RSC we go down simple as that, if he wants to go he can wait till the summer

Under Ince- stay well clear. One little heralded fact about BFS is that he was the pioneer of the use of many of the most modern training and medical regimes whilst at Bolton. The more I think about it, the more I think we need BFS to rescue us from the mess we are in. And yes that is a dramatic change of mind but there is a world of difference between where the club was in June and where we are now. Then it was looking to advance, now it is nail biting survival.
Ricky Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 I'm having a very similar change of heart Philip.
broadsword Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 We need ... Bicycle Repair Man. Only he can save us now.
Hughesy Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 I think thats abit unfair really. Dunn & Reid out injured - happened to both managers Grella & Robinson - both new, so who knows what they would be like under Hughes. Roque - Again last season he missed patches of games. Only real difference is Emerton, but again didnt he have a spell out last season? Was thinking about West Hams problems last night. Maybe we should cash in on Nelsen to Spurs & sign Upson from West Ham. He's a better defender. And maybe bring Bellamy back?
G Somerset Rover Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Why would those two players even think about coming to Rovers right now? Agreed we need a centre half and a pacey striker though. I also don't buy into this talk of Nelsen being a wanted man. Harry publicly made an offer for him over a season ago after his awesome form for Rovers, but why now would he or anybody else want an injury prone slow defender? He can't even get into our team and is a shadow of his former self.
Hughesy Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Thats my point though, if Harry wants him, let him have him. Squeeze them for as much as possible and then offer the cash bait to West Ham. Why would those players not want to join us? Our team is better than West Hams. (Maybe not currently in league standings)
Hughesy Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Why will he not? He has gone on record in the past and said he admires Nelsen as a player.
broadsword Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 That was before he got injured, I think everyone can see he's not the same player.
