G Somerset Rover Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Why will he not? He has gone on record in the past and said he admires Nelsen as a player. Yeah 1-2 years ago he wanted him. I expect every team outside of the top four would have been interested at that stage. Since then his form has dipped drastically, he isn't guarenteed a start for us and has lost his pace. We'd struggle to sell him on for any kind of decent fee IMO.

joey_big_nose Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 One of the greatest shames of my Rovers watching career was Nelsen's loss in form. He was brilliant right up to this time last year. His injury and subsequent decline coincided with Rovers own steady demise. Biggest contributing factor to the disappointing second half of last season imo.
roverfanuk Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 I'd be curious to know whether this story is correct, or if it's a figment of one of the Guardians writers imaginations. I notice their is a complete lack in any shape or form of quotes in that article (from Roque or his reps). So until Roque comes out and says something, it's all hearsay... Que Nicko, to say whether it's true or BS...

roverfanuk Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 If City offer us 18 million or somewere near that figure, i think the board will sadly accept it i think. Why we should make sure Elano is part of any deal: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=6hj_XF_CxMI
Hughesy Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Would people accept £15m + Elano for Roque?
gazsimm Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Would people accept £15m + Elano for Roque? would Elano come to us though??? and could we afford his wages????
Bennisfromheaven Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Would people accept £15m + Elano for Roque? That would be tempting but i think if we have money for Elano without any swap deal that would be great. Our problem at the moment is the supply to our front men, a good winger will make the strikers look even better!
Hughesy Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Who knows. Astrit Ajdarevic - the Swede on trial from Liverpool - Dont think anyone has mentioned him before? He played for our reserves last night.

He played for our reserves last night. Are you saying Astrit Ajdarevic knows if Elano would want to come to Ewood? Suppose someone should ask him then!
Fraserkirky Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Would people accept £15m + Elano for Roque? Yes. Although I like Onouha + Elano + 13million. That would be a hell of a deal as long as we can bring 2 Fowards in Jan. Owen being one, and Fred being the other. Add Appiah to that and we will stay up! Jan outs- RSC, Fowler, Mokoena, Simpson, Nelson. Jan ins- Elano, Onouha, Owen, Appiah, Fred. Dreamin!!!
almuncle Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Only if we can get him for a decent price, I think Duff could be decent for us again.
gumboots Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Only if we can get him for a decent price, I think Duff could be decent for us again. See how many chances he missed last night?
almuncle Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 No, I was watching the England and the Swiss matches, just caught the heavily edited German version. Just shows how misleading they can be then. They suggested that although he missed a few chances he was their most dangerous player.Seemed to back to something approaching full fitness again.
roverfanuk Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 In January i wouldnt be to bothered if we sold, Ryan Nelsen (been poor since injury), Benni McCarthy (6 million ish) and Morten Gamst Pedersen. Also we could release Robbie Fowler (pointless waste of wages), Danny Simpson (has been poor for too many games) and Steven Reid (huge drain on wages for no return). If we could bring in a striker like Janko as Roque's strike partner, a couple of center backs 1 of which would be Onouha, a center midfielder or 2 Appiah and Elano, and a right midfielder like Kightly. I could see our worries becoming a thing of the past!
DingleBaiter Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Forget Pennant, its not worth the trouble: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...party-pics.html He's (apparently) been training on his own for quite some time, the Waiter doesn't want him anywhere near it seems. Then again, given some of the tripe being banded about how things 'supposedly' are with training etc. under Ince, maybe he'd fit in?
DingleBaiter Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 One little heralded fact about BFS is that he was the pioneer of the use of many of the most modern training and medical regimes whilst at Bolton. Such as? Details, Philip, Details..... People often say that he adopts all his super technological mumbo jumbo & is some sort of a geeky whizzkid, often without any substantiation. One of the reasons for that seems to be he took a laptop (for presentation, DVD etcs) into his interview for the England job and the crusty old farts didn't have a clue what it was - therefore he was too 'scientific' and 'modern'. Personally, IMO he's Charles Hughes bustard offspring with gadgets and a team of minions - another Clive Woodward? If he was so good, how come his transfer policy seemed to be guided by 'other factors'? One wonders who our transfer targets would be if we were crackers enough to go for him? Campo? And yes that is a dramatic change of mind but there is a world of difference between where the club was in June and where we are now. Then it was looking to advance, now it is nail biting survival. I can see your point - but where on Earth do we end up next season, providing we did stay in the Prem - which is still far from sure given his last job and the fact he's also got two relegations on his CV? We may as well close the Academy and any hopes we have of complying with the Board's focus on youth integration over the next few seasons.
philipl Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Not details but reference to it in Allardyce's meet the press on his first day at St James' Park A supplier's promo but it indicates how BFS lead the way when at Bolton Let's just make sure there is a Prem League place for Rovers next season, please.
roverfanuk Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Interesting!?! Blackburn are trying to out-muscle Wigan in the race to sign Ecuador striker Cristian Benitez. (Daily Mirror)
nicko Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 The Benitez story was mine. However I hope they have not gone...because he got injured in training and won't play this weekend. Bit of a blow.
tony gale's mic Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 The Benitez story was mine. However I hope they have not gone...because he got injured in training and won't play this weekend. Bit of a blow. Any news on the Ince situation nicko?
roverfanuk Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Is their any truth in it Nicko? (sorry have to ask) Are we actively looking for a new striker then? Any word on that RM?
nicko Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Is their any truth in it Nicko? (sorry have to ask) Are we actively looking for a new striker then? Any word on that RM? There is a big striker - Janko - and a little striker - Benitez - on the 'watch' list, so it could be two new strikers. No surprise as the goals have dried up and there is the Roque situation possibly coming up. No word on any name for the right wing - but the Egyptian could be the answer. Plenty going on.

What is your gut feeling about Santa Cruz, do you think he will be sold in Jan ? Do you think any of the other strikers will be sold as well ?
