What is your gut feeling about Santa Cruz, do you think he will be sold in Jan ? Do you think any of the other strikers will be sold as well ?

There is a price that gets him...Mark Hughes would probably pay it but Man City have bigger and better ideas. Don't rule out Villa.

But it's too early to be sure.

have you heard much about the Egyptian? Any good?

Both the right-sider and the midfielder are good players in their own right and own environment.

It's whether they are strong enough for England...and fancy the cold.

A few days at Brockhall should answer those questions.

Is the fact were targeting Egyptian players a indicator of where we are looking for investment, or am i looking into it too far..?

Oh and if we get £18 million for Cruz, how much goes to Bayern?:lol:

If Ince gets the money, i hope he spends the money on players a little better then Vince Grella!

There was some reference on here (can't find it now) re Rovers trying to get Tijan Jaiteh over here on trial. Gambian 19 year old midfielder who plays for Brann in Bergen, Norway. The local rag report that Rovers can either stump up some cash or carry on scouting.

Been on the Brann messageboard. To a man they don't want him to leave but feel he will have developed more in a couple of years and would be more suited to joining the PL then rather than now. Seems like one with definite potential.

From the little I have seen of him he's certainly no new John Obi Mikel but Jaiteh might be one for the future, yes. I think Brann are right to refuse the trial though, and Blackburn are clever for asking - he's not the answer to our current problems in the middle of the park so I think we should spend what little cash we have on signing someone who can make an immediate impact.

I may be wrong but isn't the asking price I saw quoted somewhere for Benitez a tad high for us which would mean that he will probably come in if a big money departure takes place so it may be that he is Santa's replacement in waiting and the club are already resigned to him leaving once a big offer comes in. Hopefully Janko will just be Fowler's replacement after Ince decides not to give him another contract. We need some quality strikers and at least one decent winger in January. If this egyptian looks good enough then fine by me but I would like to see a more established name come in just to give the fans and the team a boost. I can already here the grumblings beginning in case we sign an unknown egyptian winger. Under Hughes it would have been fine but under Ince it is a different story...

I think there was a quote somewhere and it was, as you say, high - could the source have been Chileandude and what he thought based on the fact that the Mexican league is doing quite well and don't let their players leave as cheaply as players from the Chilean league?

No matter if Santa stays or goes in January, there's always a possibility that we'll receive an offer we simply cannot refuse - in any case it is good to have a shortlist of targets to replace him.

Yeah, at least we should be prepared and know who we want straight away if and when he does go so that we don't waste time and watch the best options go elsewhere. I think I have said this before but we don't want to end up like Spurs after they did not replace Berbatov properly and we have already not replaced Bentley so we would be even more screwed if we lose Santa and have no quality striker brought in.

The lunacy of the Vogel situation is of course that as a Swiss citizen, he has a Work Permit which is specific to his employment at Blackburn Rovers.

He got that permit because of his international and club playing record.

However, being totally frozen out at Rovers (and after having settled his family over here), there is no way on earth he could get a new Work Permit with another British employer- he has zero football track record with the club of any sort since last May.

So telling him to go find another club is utterly futile.

Vogel like the rest of us, simply has to sit it out until the horror story of the first few months of Ince's management at Ewood gets resolved one way or another.

I don't think it is fair to make out that Vogel is in any way a purely innocent guy that normally gets on well with managers and other players. He was dumped out of the Swiss team after complaints from other team members whilst captain .Something that suggests quite a serious problem. The well respected manager told him in plain terms that he wouldn't be welcome back.He refused to take an important penalty and then castigated other players in such a way it was destroying team unity. It comes as no shock to swiss friends that he fallen foul of yet another manager. Many folk here think he will do exactly the same at rovers as he did at his last club.Sit out his contract -til 2011 and take the money!!

We should possibly have smelled a rat as there were few clubs chasing him when he signed for us despite his international pedigree.

Do not think we can level all the blame at Ince.

Cant see how Janko would play alongside Roque...

Just to clarify, was Janko the young striker who tormented defences after coming off the bench in the Euros?

I don't think that was him...he is a big lad who played against Rovers in Europe and has been running amok this season. 25 goals at the halfway stage in the season - he must have something.

Agreed.

But were there issues with him when Hughes was at Ewood?

That's a genuine question- I don't know.

Well, at that stage he was the new guy and Hughes was a respected manager. Bring in new manager who few of the players will have been sure about (not suggesting rebellion in the ranks or anything but he was an unknown quantity) Vogel tries to throw his weight about a bit, Ince is not having any. Sounds likely to me.

linked to benitez yesterday-janko apparntly a live one today-if we sign both these players surely roque santa cruz will leave..

as a pair benitez and janko sound like they could make a good partnership-benitez with the pace and janko the big target man but i wouldnt want to see it at the expense of santa cruz..

nicko..have you heard anything on how robbie fowler is fairing?? has paul ince been impressed enough to offer him a longer stay-with matt jansen now training back at the club i think id much prefer him then fowler..

the two egyptians aswell-ones a right winger, what position is the other guy??
