If Hull win through the play-offs, they won't need an away kit in the Premiership as there will be no colour clashes.

There will, the club are reverting back to black and amber stripes next season, they usually swap between plain and striped shirts every couple of years... 1. to keep shirt sales high (instead of changing 1 tiny bit of detail) and 2. It's still traditional as they always do it, and it started because of the lack of colours for the stripes, after the war, I believe...

So, if Hull City go up, there will be a clash with Newcastle at least, maybe West Brom... and pretty much anyone who plays in a dark kit.

In reply to Roversmum... I know what you mean, the colour isn't great... well, for a football kit anyway! and I don't see how it would work as a change kit, as dark grey isn't really much of a change in colour from black(for the stripes on the home shirt)...

I've heard the club are using this season's white away shirt (which is much nicer) as a 3rd kit... so there is still hope for a Rovers black n' red halved shirt... though the problem there is Hull still have KC as the sponsor, where-as Rovers are changing from BET24 to Crown Paints.

Rovers look great in white shorts and socks. Like the great Rovers sides of the early 60's my Dad watched. Leave well alone.

despite the fact that i like the blue shorts and socks I wasn't suggesting changing it, In fact I get excited on the rare occasions that we wear the blue and I want to keep it as a nice change of pace rather than the norm.

Any news on when the kits will be announced? Quite a few clubs have announced theirs already, Rovers always seem to be behind the others in this regard.

Tom Finn said that the refitting and relaunch of the club shop at some stage during the close season is expected to tie in with the arrival of the new club kit - details to follow!

On the Bristol Rovers shirt query on quarters & halves a sister writes:

"The oracle (Bro in law) sez quarters - four on the front and four on the back

psss - they dont realise thats eighths - not that bright in the west country tiz all that cider!"

The away shirts were meant to be released early July if I recall a much earlier post with the home shirt early August.

I remember the discussion about having a new Rovers shirt before I fly to the Caribbean for my Hols mid July :brfcsmilie:

Umbro

ND asked when the launch of the 2008/09 kits were expected. TF replied that they expected them to go on sale in early July. In the next two years it was planned to have shirts available at the end of the season, with the team wearing the new shirt at the last game. This could be done as the shirt sponsorship deal was fixed for three years.

The club and Umbro would welcome comments from any fans about the design of future kits. Comments should be sent via John Wareing (contact details below).

It wasn't clear about the order for shirt sales i.e. whether both together or the away before the home or vice versa. We may get more idea at the next Forum, which is next Monday (19th).

PS see note about looking for comments about future kits. Despite all the comments above I've not had one fan offer his/her comments yet. Don't say you weren't asked!

It's a bit difficult to do before we see the new lot.

Well generally, at least for me, comments relating to improving the kit will always be based on the one from the year before, so until we know what we're playing with it is difficult to tell where things could be improved. There are of course a basic set of requirements, but I'm sure most of those will be respected. The only major change I wanted to see was to have the Black and Red kit made into our standard away kit colours, but that has already been ruled out.

O2G - As iv said before and as many board members have backed up.

Our away kit should always be a halved kit - regardless of the colours if we cant keep the same, it should be halved. Its unique and our home kit is easily noticable so lets have both our kits in that style.

Also the keeper should wear bright colours to try and put strikers off.
