Your juvenile quip regarding a job aimed at promoting equality in the London Ambulance Service. I tend to be reminded of the 1950s.

Utter tosh,

There's to many non jobs like that with obscene pay scales.

Jobs like that did not exist in the 50's

How do you know that there are too many jobs like that? Do you know what they do? Or do you just read the Daily Mail?

Of course there were no jobs like that in the '50s, just attitudes like yours

If anyone is stuck in a timewarp its PM? the only three people that truly believe in Communism are Kim Jong-Il, Casto & Chavez- the less said about those three the better

I'm no fan of any of those guys, but heh don't let the facts get in the way....

Your attitude, as far as i could tell from your sniggering post, was to make fun of people who want to make things less unequal. What's funny about that? Or shoudl the blacks sit on the seats at the back of the bus?

Things less unequal- the above dictators; you're joking right? Communism produces three types of people the 0.01% rich at the top of the regime the poor and the even poorer. Take N korea- Kim Jong-Il has a regular Disney day where he watches countless Disney films inside his palace eating ice-cream & pizza. Whilst millions of his own people are dying of starvation. Then we have fidel in Cuba - how many people have had to flee his regime since he took power?

Communism in an opertional sense has never been about equality- its a way of the ruling elite to remain in power - unchecked. As for your stupid remark about black people- get of the race card its lame and an old trick

I don't read the mail,

They are non jobs, they produce nothing, they create nothing, they are a drain on the national purse.

My attitude is to educate people into being the best they can be and to continually improve, some thing that is not promoted in general these days ie it's the taking part that matters

Winning is what matters and being gracious in victory

You have no idea Yoda about this work, or else you'd have explained what was wrong with it, and the homespun philosophy; well if that's the real world you can keep it, because the same people keep winning over and over again.

Please read before posting Bazza: I hate these regimes as much as the next person; and if you gave two hoots I could give you chapter and verse on what I've actually done over the years to support the opposition before and after the Wall came down..

You made the lame remark about the equality job, and I was checking if you actually had an idea what it's about. From your reply I conclude you don't.

Here we go again. What, pray, has the Daily Mail got to do with jobs advertised in The Guardian?

Here we go again indeed.

Well the Daily Mail pours out intolerant filth day after day and the remarks of yoda and bazza about a job advertised in the Guardian was the kind of thing the Mail would have been proud of. Then again you'd know that if you'd read the last couple of pages.

Sorry to be a bore.

Don't appologise for being yourself!

I repeat I don't read the Mail, I also don't read the Guardian

Have you ever heard the truism that "work expands to fill the time alloted"

That applies to those type of jobs

Sorry, Paul M, I just can't see what you are on about. The last time this happened I got a fortnight's copies of the Mail from my neighbour and went through the lot. Couldn't see any of the stuff you keep on about.

Not too keen on their banging on about weight and looks particularly concerning women and one or two articles I didn't agree with but on the whole don't think they are better or worse than any other paper.

It's people's choice what they want to read. I read a wide variety of news and newspaper articles online (sometimes in print) and I wouldn't dream of castigating what others want to read. If I don't agree with something that somebody else does I don't feel the need to try and belittle them because of it but look to put forward a sensible argument. At least we are lucky enough to have a choice.

OK RM, I'll take a look at the Mail this week and let's see what we come up with. Maybe Yoda, our ex pat expert on the public sector could do the same with the Guardian

You obviously have a problem reading the content of other peoples posts!

And I like being called an ex pat, makes happy that some one like you will have to make contributons to the national purse so that my pension will be paid when I draw it.

But...your state pension won't increase after you retire and you won't be able to use the NHS.

Anyway just getting ready for two days of strikes, so must rush.

If you really want to crack down on crime, why not just kill the poor? You don't see many earning 500+k (determined by tax reports, don't want some drug dealers messing up the system) out on the street stabbing and shooting people? We'd still have the odd one, but while we're thinking of getting rid of the dead-beats in society we may as well not wait for them to do something wrong.

In the book ´Freakanomics´the authors argue that the reason for the big decline in crime in the USA in the 90s was actually due to abortion being made available a generation before. The demographic group most likely to have abortions were poor, single women. By aborting unwanted children there were less of the kids who were by far the most likely to turn into the criminals of tomorrow.

So you could actually be onto something there Eddie!

The government lost that particular battle as we live n the EU,

I will also have a French pension as well as my private one.

The NHS! don't make me laugh, France has the best health system in the world.

In any case I could still use

That's because it simply isn't there !

The sad truth is that those who insist on calling the Mail the Hate Mail or the Daily Heil or whatever are all - and I mean ALL - products of our very poor sixth form and university system (or should I say polytechnic system) . There seems to be a self repeating liberal/socialist doctrine in these places that is impervious to ouside influence . I come across massively more right wing views every single day of the year both in the workplace and in the pubs than the Mail would ever dream of printing . So do most people .....

Usually after a few years in the real world* these dreamy class and race warriors grow up and start to act like normal human beings instead of indoctrinated children .

* Obviously this does not apply to those who "work" in the public sector doing "jobs" such as those advertised in the Guardian . There , the indoctrination continues .... :)

That probably says more about the people you work with and the places you drink.

I think you are wrong there tgm. I must say that I don't often frequent inner city wine bars or college campus's but I must say the 'right wing views' that Phil alludes to seems to me to be shared by the majority of society out in the real world around here imo. And those 'right wing views' really need reclassifying cos they are held by people from most political persuasions.
