It would be better if people who are offended by ASEF's eloquent reply or statements could do the same rather than a sidey one liner in response!

Some people have a life mate.

As for eloquent I would deem it as rather obsessive and creepy behaviour.

Another poster on here seems to have swallowed a thesarus.Their postings are full of fancy language but don't really say anything.

I think it would be much more interesting if posters could spot who spelt privilege/privelege right.... not! or we could watch paint dry! Irrelevant I know, but I was bored! It could spark a topical debate...

Guilty as charged , Rosie

I looked at the word "privelege" (as I spelt it) , knew there was summat wrong ...and still let it go .

Still ; at least I didn't put a "d" in it .....

There are none so blind as those who will not see .

It is possible to appreciate a person's eloquence even whilst disagreeing with their point of view , Don .

But I suppose it must be frustrating knowing you're not quite up to replying in kind .... :(

Oh, and before the grammar nazis return to their keyboards, the second sentence of my post above was a typo error.

Anyway Phil, next time you choose to quote me try to avoid using it out of context.

In fact good sir, I would be most grateful, even privileged, if in future you read previous posts more thoroughly.

That way you would know in which context I was using eloquence and thesaurus

I think this could well apply to you:

A man only sees want he wants to see, when he's in his mind, where he is that he wants to be, living in a world where he's safe from reality.

Won't you take a chance on this night and follow me.

Another weekend and two more sickening crimes against elderly women in the UK...

An 84-year-old woman has been stabbed to death on Saturday evening in Wales.

LINK HERE

If the man arrested for the murder is found guilty, then his so-called "life sentence" may only mean about 12 years in prison before being let out.

The perpetrator in my view should literally be locked up for the rest of his life until he dies for such an abhorrent crime. The man should never be released, but in soft liberal UK so-called "life sentences" are completely inadequate - in some cases they can mean less than 10 years inside.

Meanwhile over in Belfast this weekend a 62-year-old woman has been raped by an intruder in her home.

LINK HERE

The perpetrator, if caught, may only serve about six or eight years in prison and have access to Sky TV, Playstations and DVDs in his cell.

The liberal do-gooders and EU human rights lawyers have had too much influence over our criminal justice system in recent years and New Labour's claim to be "tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime" is a sick joke.

Dennis Nilsen, one of Britain's most infamous serial killers, has even had the audacity to launch a human rights court battle to gain uncensored access to gay porn magazines in his prison cell. He argued that he was being discriminated against.

In my view none of the buggers in prison - gay or straight - should have any access to porn in their cells.

Liberals, liberals liberals etc.

And they may get swimming pools and they may get Xbox Live and they may get HBO and they may get ESPN America. But they may not get any of it. The point is that you don't know.

You really have no shame about using abhorrent crimes against the elderly for airing your political hobby horses do you? That's kind of twisted to be honest.

Before I opened this thread, I realised it was an old thread, bit of a contentious subject on law and order, been ressurrected, and Rovermatt had made last comment.

My guess was that AESF had posted something topical, and Rovermatt had taken the bait.

Indeed.

Evil scumbags could be out in just 19 years....

_45903112_montage_kinsella226.jpg

16-year-old Ben Kinsella lost his life after being stabbed 11 times in North London by the trio of men above - Michael Alleyne, Juress Kika and Jade Braithwaite.

The judge told the trio of thugs: "Your blind and heartless anger that night defies belief. He had in front of him a lifetime of promise. You have taken all that away from him in a brutal, cowardly and totally unjustified attack."

Yet the three evil scumbags have been given minimum sentences of just 19 years. In my view it's not long enough. That is also the view of Ben's sister, the actress Brooke Kinsella, who said of the terms given to the trio: "It is little more than Ben lived, so it is not really enough."

After being sentenced by the judge, Kika and Alleyne both turned and jeered to members of the victim's family, making gestures towards them. It emerged after the verdicts that Kika had been on the run from police following a robbery in which a man was stabbed nine days before Ben's death. Alleyne was being supervised by the local youth offending team as part of an 18-month detention and training order for drug dealing.

Ben's father said: "How many more families will have to stand outside the Old Bailey to get justice for their child? Our son's only crime was to be the last one, running away, from those animals. Knife crime is now sadly embedded in the very heart of Great Britain. Parents live in fear until their children are safely home."

I'd suggest that sentences for drug dealing, robberies and especially stabbings, are not strong enough. When somebody is brutally stabbed to death the perpetrators in my view should be locked up for the rest of their lives. Through their actions they have forfeited the right to be freed into our society when they have behaved with such evil thuggery.

And they may get swimming pools and they may get Xbox Live. But they may not get any of it. The point is that you don't know.

Well I'm sorry that I didn't give specific examples of prisons with swimming pools or the precise number of prisoners with access to games consoles, but I can tell you of five particular prisons with pools, together with details of running costs.

Holloway, Aylesbury and Standford Hill prisons have heated indoor pools. The estimated cost of maintaining these was £20,200 (inclusive of utilities) at Holloway; £22,660 (also inclusive of utilities) at Standford Hill; and £6,800 plus utilities at Aylesbury.

Portland and Blantyre House prisons have unheated outdoor pools. The cost of maintaining these pools between April 2006 and April 2007 was approximately £3,890 and £2,500-£3,000 respectively.

This information comes from the House of Commons, halfway down the page at the link below:

Prison pools

In 2008 it was revealed that the Prison Service spent £221,726 on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo systems and software for jailed criminals.

Link here

With the country deep in debt and with a big strain on public services at the moment, taxpayers' money would in my view be better spent on other areas rather than prison swimming pools and over 200 grand on games consoles.

Rather than Nintendo systems, I'd like to see more prison spaces available, so we can keep dangerous violent criminals in jail for longer, protecting the public, rather than releasing them early due to a lack of spaces available.

You really have no shame about using abhorrent crimes against the elderly for airing your political hobby horses do you? That's kind of twisted to be honest.

On the contrary. 12 years ago in 1997, New Labour were elected after promising to be "tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime".

Since New Labour have been in office, gun and knife crime has reached huge levels, especially in our inner cities and since 2000, fifty-three people sentenced to 'life' in prison have been released after serving less than six years.

When so-called 'life' sentences can mean less than six years, I think the whole criminal justice system is discredited. In 1996, the shortest 'life sentence' stood at seven years - fractionally longer than now. So since 1997, under New Labour, so-called 'life' sentences can mean less time served in prison than before.

In 2006 it was revealed that 1,023 foreign prisoners, including murderers, rapists and people convicted of sex crimes on children, have been allowed to walk free when they were meant to be considered for deportation.

In 2007 it was revealed that around 25,000 prisoners were to be freed early in an effort to ease prison overcrowding. On Gordon Brown's first day of office as PM in June 2007, 1000 criminals including burglars, drug dealers and fraudsters were released from prison early.

Are you able to explain Rovermatt how this is in line with a promised policy of being "Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime"?

I'd suggest that the early release of prisoners is partly a consequence of Gordon Brown's refusal to build new prisons when he was Chancellor, and it's the general public who are now paying the price with their safety.

I feel I'm perfectly entitled to criticise Government policy Matt, given New Labour's broken promises on crime and as Ben Kinsella's father has said this week: "Knife crime is now sadly embedded in the very heart of Great Britain."

If you think that I'm "twisted" for criticising soft sentences for despicable violent crimes, then that is your view. I happen to think that New Labour are "twisted" for promising to be tough on crime, and failing to deliver on their pledges - releasing criminals early and failing to adequately protect the public.

For the record, prisons should not have Sky TV, Xbox or the other stuff you hear about, as it is a punishment. Sure, there should be educational facilities, so people who want to reform and get qualifications can better themselves, but definately no nice things that honest law abiding chaps like me can't afford but would have. Otherwise I might as well go and stab a granny so I can watch the ashes and play some pool.

We've heard it all before.

I don't really know what you mean there. Can you explain please?

As for the title.... The rope is too quick for the two sicko's who tortured and then murdered the two french students in London.

A cabinet minister who should be aware of what a mess this country is in....

andy-burnham.jpg

Health Secretary Andy Burnham is one man in New Labour's cabinet who should be aware of the problems of crime in this country. He should know that we've got plenty of lowlife scumbags in Britain who are making old people's lives a misery. Mr Burnham's gran suffered at the hands of some of those 'loveable scousers' while spending her last years in a care home.

Burnham told The Sunday Mirror today that his gran had her wedding ring pulled from her finger and stolen. Shameful - but not uncommon in our sick society. Burnham said that his gran - who died aged 91 in 2002 - "had stuff nicked all the time" in her care home.

Isn't it a sad state of affairs when elderly vulnerable people are treated with such disdain by scumbags looking to steal their possessions with the intention of possibly flogging them off for drug money. It debases our society and show how far we have sunk. Clearly the liberal social policies of the last 40 to 50 years haven't been a success. Somewhere down the line we've gone very badly wrong.

What answers have the politicians got towards these problems? Should we do as David Cameron suggested and "hug a hoodie" ? Would that makes things better?

If hoodies pull the wedding rings from the hands of elderly women should we give the young criminals a big hug, make excuses for them, pat them on the head and say that they've had a hard childhood?

What other answers has Mr Cameron got? What about New Labour? They came into power in 1997 promising to be "tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime". In recent years Labour have spent their time releasing violent and dangerous criminals from prison early because there are not enough prison spaces available. Foreign prisoners have been released without being considered for deportation.

The Government Actuary's Department have published data showing how the UK's population is likely to grow over the coming decades. In our already small crowded island, the population in the UK could soar to a staggering 90 million later this century. Such a massive increase, driven by immigration, a rising birthrate and people living longer, would add 50% to today's population.

So if we haven't got enough prisons in Britain now, if we already have extreme pressure on housing, transport and public services now, what could things be like with 90 million in Britain?

Would that mean more violent criminals released early? Will we have to hug more hoodies and hope things get better?

It's clear to me that we've got massive problems in our society. No doubt those on the liberal-left will bury their heads in the sand and pretend the damage isn't happening. But to many of us, who have seen with our own eyes the failed socio-liberal experiment in recent decades, and can see the damage it is causing with divided communities and violent crime out of control, we know that we're staring at the abyss.

yup, its those Damn liberals and lefties who havent been in power since the 70's

America which has a much harsher and more right wing criminal justice system, is in a worse state than ours. But that doesnt fit your tiny rabid rightwing mind does it?

Are you an active member of a political party? A pressure group? A victim support group? Do you take an active role in a youth organisation, trying to ensure kids dont become the scrotes you fear so much?

I guess not and that you're all mouth and no trousers, a cowardly keyboard warrior if you will.

So you condone stealing from the elderly and vulnerable? Anyway why should anybody have to do what parents should be held accountable for? That is where the problems lie.

But if anybody is a coward it is you Flopsy, hiding behind your XXL sized moderator keyboard. Give any of that level of insulting stuff back that you have just dished out and whoever does it usually ends up potted. You need to pipe down and just stick to trying to moderate this mboard in an even handed manner.
