Lathund Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Samba and Vogel in. Zurab and Dunn (Injury) out. With Samba's recent form I'd have prefered to see either Emerton in with Ooijer in the centre, or keeping Zurab in there. I wonder what Zurab is thinking when Samba plays poorly, and then Zurab plays well when deputising for him, and then gets dropped again as soon as Samba is back. ROVERS: Friedel, Ooijer, Samba, Nelsen ©, Warnock, Bentley, Reid, Vogel, Pedersen, Roberts, Santa Cruz. Subs: Brown (GK), Emerton, McCarthy, Mokoena, Derbyshire. TOTTENHAM: Cerny, Chimbonda, Dawson, Woodgate, Hutton; Lennon, Zokora, Jenas, Malbranque, Keane ©, Berbatov. Subs: Fortune (GK), Tainio, Gilberto, Huddlestone, Bent.

rovers1993 Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 lets see how vogel can cope with jenas... come on rovers!

Interesting that Vogel is starting. He hasn't played a competitive match for a long time and to play him from the start in a must win game against a decent side he must of impresed Hughes. I just hope it doesn't backfire.
rock steady Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 would have liked to see benni in the team today. oh well...

Agree, this is a very strange move by Hughes! We had a good chance of winning this game, but with Samba back in the starting XI...You better get yourself ready for another horror show by the blackburn defence!
FourLaneBlue Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Samba´s best performances have usually been alongside Nelsen in defence who may have been helping him out as a mentor. Maybe Hughes is thinking that is what Samba needs to settle him down and get back into form.
RibbleValleyRover Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 I'm still a bit shocked that Vogel is starting
Rovers in America Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Guess we shall see what Vogel has. Looking forward to that today.
Lurid Coat Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 I'm still a bit shocked that Vogel is starting I'm both shocked and excited, to be honest. I've always been a big fan of Vogel's, so I'm ecstatic that he's getting his Rovers debut so soon, but this might also just be a testament to how Hughes rates Tugay and the Axe (i.e not at all)

I'm not expecting anything major from him, as its his first game but its nice to see a DM with a pedigree in the side.
RibbleValleyRover Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 0-1 ffs.... FFS, against the run of play. WE PLAYED Jenas onside, bad defending
rovers1993 Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 berbatov is a diving ####! trying to get penalty! we need instant reply to get back into the game... why do we need to concede first everytime?
RibbleValleyRover Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 85 minutes to save our season. Villa 1-0 up against Bolton
rovers1993 Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 well at least man city is 1-0 down... we need a win badly! if not then say good bye to europe.
Mr. E Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 if the team which lost 4-1 to the worst team in the league stop us today....well....well what. We're Rovers. It's what we do. and this is what I'm talking about. Santa Cruz gets the ball 1 on 1 vs the last defender, and he doesn't go for it. He runs out of the area, waits for support and the entire Spurs defense floods back in.
BRFC1995 Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 poor, really poor at home! need pompey to win cup and villla to f£££ up against bolton or season is looking over considering liverpool and united to come, the sentiment ffs never more apt!!
tony gale's mic Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 if the team which lost 4-1 to the worst team in the league stop us today....well....well what. We're Rovers. It's what we do. They lost 4-1 to Derby?! This is very disappointing but no need to be so melodramatic.
krislu Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 with Samba back in the starting XI...You better get yourself ready for another horror show by the blackburn defence! Didn't take long before our defence played the brilliant "lets-get-them-offside" card.... Bentley getting frustrated, can't blame him..
rovers1993 Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 last game they went 1 - 0 up and lost 1-4 so we'll just have to see... it's not over until the final whistle is blown.
Tango Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Samba's all over the place at the moment, Berbatov's running rings round him.
rovers1993 Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 spuds looks like a world cup winning team against us now... they are ripping our defence apart again and again.
